  1. I just got my insurance renewal from Echelon General Insurance Company, through Riders Plus. I thought these guy's were supposed to be biker friendly. It went up approximatly $200.00 to a painful $812.00. That is roughly a 33 % increase, no tickets, no accidents and no claims. That was for one million liability only. No collision, fire or theft, for my 89. How do they justify such a whopping increase at a time when the average worker is lucky to even get a 2% raise If they even get one at all. I know some who haven't had a raise in 4 years and then there are the ones who have even been unemployed. :Avatars_Gee_George: :Avatars_Gee_George:
  2. I started sooner then that....1st a four wheeler PRAM. From there I went to a tricycle, next a two wheeler {w/o training wheels:Avatars_Gee_George:} Then the 50 honda and so on.
  3. Looks like I got vetoed . . . . . The Mrs say's I can't go. . I have to help with the packing for our trip. Actually I think I will be doing most off the packing because she conveniently got herself stung, in the hand and it has swollen up like a balloon. Maybe next time.
  4. I let the window guy's talk. Then I give them some window dimensions and the type of window I would like priced out. After they calculate it out and give me a price, I respond by suggesting they buy from me, because my prices are a lot lower than theirs, or sometimes I just thank them for letting me know that my prices are a lot more competitive then their's .
  5. I'll say one thing for you Steve . . . . .You give the term sunkin livingroom a whole new meaning:rotfl:
  6. Just my humble opinion, but will doing the initial 37 ft/pd preload torque, I always felt it wise to rotate the handle bars back and forth while turning the nut, to make sure the bearings seat or preload properly. Then back off and set your final torque.
  7. Will this be an overnight or down and back the same day.......I am having second thoughts and very tempted to throw my hat in the ring
  8. Good luck with that. If it is any consolation I guy I work with had that done two years ago and you wouldn't know it if you saw the way he he slugs away in the truck shop or plays sports.
  9. CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR
  10. I wear Terra light black work boots. They have a zipper on the side instead of laces and are very comfortable. Once a year I leave them in the hot sun for a day and apply snow seal [it is a product which is mostly bees wax] until the leather will not soak up any more and I have never had wet feet. Using a hair dryer or setting boots in a preheated oven then turned off works well too. In the past I have had similiar results using mink oil or vaseline, but the the snow seal seems to work the best. I have also wondered about the long term effect of vaseline on leather since it is petrolium based but personally have not experienced any bad results.
  11. I doupt I would have thought of that one , and I am McGuyver from way back. Defifnitly a candidate for the Poor Mans Tips and Fixes. Glad your enjoying your trip. Can't wait to see the Pics

  16. Its simple. Companion ship that does not argue or talk back. does not hand you a honey do list as soon as you walk in the door or drink your beer. Does not spend the next hour telling you about the rough day they had as you collapse in the doorway from your own 10 hour day. If accidently locked outside they are quiet as soon as you let them in. don't force you to listen as they relate today's episode of all my children. Huh gotta go now the Mrs just walked in Coming dear
  17. Did you check his papers ? How do you know he is not an illegal immigrant ? fresh off of a refuge boat? OH wait I am thinking of Canada.
  18. 1st gen is the same hook up so if it is made for a gold wing it will work on a 1st gen. Also if you are using a full face helmet J&M, SCALA and IMC all make sets designed for the full face helmet. The mike simply velcros to the jaw piece. If you get one of these don't place the mike directly in front of your mouth but to one side.
  19. Thats exactly what happened to mine I was puling away from a ducati when there was this loud bang which we both heard. At the time I did not know what it was so I continued riding the bike for the rest of the summer. Then when I changed the oil I discovered it was a very pretty metalic grey, OUCH. Bought new bearings and seals, took it apart and that is when I was suddenly enlightened as to what that mysterious bang was. Well I believe it is only a 1st Gen thing .......because second gen's just don't have the power
  20. Yes definitly a Canadian custom well founded in our roots
  21. I don't think it should matter, as I have noticed due to all the meet and eats. A lot of our American friends are becoming bilingual, and learning to speak Canadian EH!
  22. Politcs is a loosing and frustrating argument no matter what side of the fence you sit on
  23. If you watch the ball as it leaves the bat it is heading straight for the pitch then vanishes and a second ball appears out of nowhere. For one split second you can actually see two balls as the substitution takes place.
  24. This story occured a couple years ago and was all over the media at the time. It was actually the first time I even heard about ID theft and realized it was even possible. If I can refind the story I will post it.
  25. My 89 tended to wander when the steering head bolts were too loose But I also found with my 89 if I overtightened steering head bearings too tight or stiff it will tend to sway and when going to into turns I would find myself fighting it into the turn as the bike would tend to try to straighten itself out. Once I backed them off a little it was fine.
