I once bought a cup of coffee at Tim Hortons. The cup said roll up the rim to win. I rolled up the rim and it said please play again. I walked up to the girl and said I won. She asked what did I won. I said a chance to play again. Could I have another cup.:rotfl: PS she did give me another cup . She too had a sense of humour.

Motorcycle taillight downshift brakelight activator
saddlebum replied to PGunn's topic in Watering Hole
Looking at the picture and the fact that it has an arrow which I gather indicates the direction the device must be mounted, I assume it is a mercury switch or similiar g-force principal. Decelaration would activate the switch. So what happens if you are going over a series of bumps? Would your brake light keep flashing ? -
I once used a product called Dr Vinyl that worked very well, but have not seen it here in Canada for some time. However Permatex has a Vinyl repair kit that seems very similiar.

It may be a bit late but, personelly I think the timing was great to help get the juices flowing for the coming season and help ease some of the PMS blues. Reminds me of the great fall colour ride Marcarl, Chabicheka, and I took through Ontario's near north this past fall. It was one of the most enjoyable rides I have had.

battery tender
saddlebum replied to silver08's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Before getting my battery tender I used a 2 amp charger and a wall timer. I left it hooked up to the bike all winter and set the timer so the battery would charge for 1/2 to 1 hour every day depending on the size of the battery. I only switched to the battery tender because when I bought my VR it came with one. -
Don't cry "I'm bored, theres nothing to do" gauranted Mom or Dad always had the solution to that one and just as Gauranted you were not going to like it.

How about a bumper sticker I once saw. " WHEN GUNS ARE OUTLAWED . . . . .ONLY OUTLAWS WILL OWN GUNS"

I agree with the father all the way up to shooting the computor. Though I have nothing against firearms, being a firearm owner myself. Nor am I against using firm discipline. I do not feel however that using a gun to discipline a 15 year old is the right way or the more mature way to go about it. I agree with the earlier post that she should have been forced to give it away to someone who could use one, but cannot afford one. I am sure that seeing another childs face light up, as she handed over her cherished laptop, that she would see what it is to appreciate something. Instead I think the father demonstrated his own lack of maturity and self discipline, by destroying the laptop wether by use of a firearm, sledge hammer or driving over it. A firearm is a deadly tool for hunting and defence, not a child rearing tool. I also fear that this type of use of a firearm would give antigun lobbyists more fuel for their cause. They could well claim this as an example of someone irrationally pullying a gun in a fit of anger. As gun owners we have a responsibility to prove to these people that honest gun owners are responsibile and have a large degree of respect for the weapons we are entitled to own.

Seems to me every bike I have owned or seen up close that has a few years on it have the heat checking. It only seeems to be the outer surface and rarely seems to pnetrate right through. As you noted with your old ones when you inspect the inside they are usually OK. Only once did I actually have one split right through. That was on my 1975 canam 250. It caused my bikes RPM's to stay up when I backed off on the throttle.

I just got off the phone with a person having an East Indian accent claiming to be from Internet Canada. They claimed that my computer may be passing and receiving Malware and wanted access to my PC to fix this. I obviously declined, and then googled the number. It appears this number 760-705-8888 has also been related to other scams such as wanting your hydro info etc. They were very persistant and they even asked me go into my computer mangement folder so I could see the errors for myself. Fortunatly I am fully aware that this file will from time to time show errors and warnings, but for someone who is not it makes the whole thing sound very legit. At which piont they offer to correct this, you need only to give them access to your PC. Needless to say I declined and strongly suggested they go fly a kite. I also found this interesting link when I googled the number http://tragicswake.com/2011/03/phone-scam-warning-760-705-8888/

A hunter and his friend were sitting in a tall tower stand near Highway 7 early one cold December morning. Suddenly, a huge buck walked out over the corn they had spread in the low shrubs. The buck was magnificent, a once in a lifetime animal. His rack was huge. The hunter's hand shook as his mind was already counting the Boone and Crockett points. Moving quickly, the hunter carefully aimed the Leopold scope on his ..300 Win Mag at the unsuspecting buck. As he was about to squeeze the trigger on this deer of a lifetime, his friend alerted him to a funeral procession passing slowly down Highway 7. The hunter pulled away from the gunstock, set the rifle down, took off his hat, bowed his head and then closed his eyes in prayer. His friend was stunned, "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen you do. You actually let that trophy deer go to pay respects to a passing funeral procession. You are indeed the kindest man I have ever known, and I feel lucky to call you a friend." The hunter shrugged. "Yeah, well, we were married for 37 years."

A large part of the problem is that the front pilars on either side of the cars windshield create blind spots big eough to hide a small car, never mind a motorcycle, or pedestrian on the side walk. Add to this the fact that more and more cars refuse to stop 1st, before pulling out into traffic, or crossing a side walk, but often just whip out with out properly checking traffic. On top of that, throw in a cell phone to boot. The biggest culprites seem to be young female drivers bent on rushing and multitasking through their errands. Ever notice how the cell phone never leaves a young womens hand, be they walking, driving, or even sitting through dinner. Every five seconds they look at it as though they will just die if they don't get a message. I have actually had to tell my daughter in law (who I love dearly) that in my house cell phones are not allowed at the dinner table. I find it very rude when someone is constantly texting during dinner, and they scare the life out of me when i pull up along side someone texting while driving. Its like the text they are sending say's "who's Next".
