TomTom 550 Question... Talk to da dummy
saddlebum replied to Snaggletooth's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I also use TYRE. The program works real well with Tom Tom was actually originally designed for Tom Tom. Once you load TYRE to you PC it puts a user link directly into Tom Tom Home, from were you upload your itinary directly to your GPS. -

They also have an excellent tech support team via chat line or land line. They even took the time to talk me through a total reprogramming of the unit when I screwed up my 1st major software update. Yes you get operating system software updates as well as map updates. -
I have these as well which I use when I am out on the boat and/or fishing. They to work great. Just that the pair I have are not long enough in the leg for me when on the bike and I find them a little bulkier to wear or to pack away. Also should the rain stop suddenly and the sun come out, but you can,t stop right away to get out of them, it gets hot and sweaty in them real fast.

Serious Problem...HELP!!!

:sign yeah that:My battery has been in the bike since 2007, does not get removed in winter, and has the Battery Tender going all winter long, and is still going strong. Trickle chargers on the other hand (not the same as a Battery tender but often refered to as one). may be a differrent story. If not watched they will boil a battery dry and ruin it. If I use a trickle charger to store a battery I use it with a wall timer and set the timer to turn on the charger for 1/2 every day and then turn the charger off. With regards to a battery being charged all the time while in the bike don't forget there is also a regulator which turns the power off and on as required. -
I sent an e-mail directly to the manufacturer at this address marketing@froggtoggs.com. Shipping was not an issue as they covered the shipping cost for replacing my old jacket. It did not cost me a single penny.

Once a squirrel makes its home in your attic there is no keeping them out. They will be determined to get back in no matter what you do. I found the only way to get rid of the ones in my attic was to hang a wire snare in front of the hole. I know it sounds cruel but no worse than poisin and no dead body's left to rot in the attic. Keep in mind if left alone they can cause house fires by chewing through wiring. However recently I have heard if you know someone with ferrets, get some ferrit poop and place it inside the hole. It supposed to drive them out and keep them out.

TomTom 550 Question... Talk to da dummy
saddlebum replied to Snaggletooth's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I am not sure but I believe you are still getting it through the home site, just that it needs the gps connected so it knows which gps you want the manual for. P/S I have three Tom Toms and I love them. I find once you get to know your way around them they are much more user friendly then the Garmin and have more search options as well as alternate route choices. My only beef is that the screen fades out too much in bright sunlight were the garmin seems to handle sunlight better. And by the way your welcome. -

Open Tom tom home Run update to make sure you have the latest version loaded to you PC once update is complete, connect your Tom Tom to your PC with the USB cable when the screen on tghe gps asks if you want to connect to your PC tap yes or connect on the gps Once connected it will search for and update your GPS automaticlly when finished click Done, home will return to the main screen Leave your Tom Tom connected On tom tom home window click the big triangle that says more under it, on the lower right, it takes you to the next page look for the window that say's read the manual for my device and click on it The page that pops up should show your device and a list of languages choose your language to down load the manual in pdf format Ionce it is open I suggest you save it to your desk top -

I hope he is not staying away out of frustration. I know how sometimes those who know much, can get frustrated by those who know little but think they know much. Eventually those who do know much get fed up, throw thier hands up in the air and say the heck with it. I certianly hope this is not the case with Goose as I for one value his knowledge and opinions, even if at times, I may debate them. At the same time I am always willing to stand corrected when I find or am proved wrong, as I am sure most of us on the site are, and that too is part of everyday learning Goose is a wealth of knowledge, a great guy and I hope he comes back on soon. :thumbsup2:

Frogg Toggs have acknowledged the defect with the zipper and have upgraded to a HEAVIER DUTY zipper. I e-mailed them about mine and though it was out of warranty (3 or more years old ) they sent me a new jacket, with the upgraded zipper, free of charge. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68375

I prefer the 2 piece frogg toggs. Have never got wet in them and rode through some real bad storms Much easier to get in and out of (and I wear 1 pc coveralls every day) More freedom of movement than a 1 pc some times all you need is the pants, some times just the jacket The Frogg Togg jacket makes a great extra outer layer for extra warmth and wind break should the temperature drop drasticaly, while your out on a long ride. Also easier to deal with should the need to use a bathroom arise

I believe BBQ has just become a generic term for outside grilling like Skil Saw has become for all circular saws despite who makes them. Or maybe it is just an acronym like LOL, BYB, BTW, LMAO
