Whatever you decide here are a few things to keep in mind 1) should have a tub style floor with sides at least 6 inches high. 2) the floor should be of very water proof material. 3) avoid plastic floors as they add bulk when packing to save space. 4) the floor should have no stitching or seams at ground level and preferebly double tapped at any of the seams that do exist 5) the fly should go right to the ground 6) the zipper for the fly should be located at a pole not between poles, so as not to form a trough were water would run and leak through the zipper. 7) the zipper should be covered with a generous flap. 8) the fly should have loops to which additional guy lines can be attached in case of very heavy winds

You might be .....your starting to repeat yourself....

Just a shot in the dark here, but it almost sounds like a bad O2 (oxygen sensor). these were a common failure on GM products. they are usually screwed into the exhaust pipe just past the exhaust manifold.

Not entirely true. Geodesic dome tents yes will stand up to strong winds but I have seen some of the non-geodesic dome tents blow away. the eureka duo is shaped like the stealth bomber and similar shaped tents stand up extremely well to gale force winds.

How do you lube your joints?
saddlebum replied to rstacy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Liquid soap, pure antifreeze or silcone grease (such as brake lube or dielectric grease). BUT Do not use any petroleum based lubricant such as oil or normal grease. Some rings are oil resistant but unless you know for sure it is safest to avoid any kind of petroleum. Depending on the type of o-ring the petroleum based lubricants cause them to either swell or deteriate. Also do not put them in dry or they may roll and tear or pinch. If your stuck with nothing, spit on it.- 28 replies

This is the one I use. http://store.eurekatent.com/spitfire-2-tent I am 6' 1 1/2" tall. Has aluminum flexible poles, sets up in ten minutes, has plenty of sleeping room plus room to spare for a duffle bag. I have slept through some pretty severe thunderstorms and came out bone dry. Plus it all packs up very small, about the size of large thermos and fits right in the saddle bag of my 89 VR leaving plenty of room for my riding clothes. I highly recomend it. PS on hot summer days you can leave the fly off as the inner tent is one big mesquito net. http://store.eurekatent.com/spitfire-2-tent mountian co-op also has a good selection of tents. I also recommend staying away from tents stocked by places like canadian tire . walmart etc. as I have tried them and woke up wet maney times.

I remember a time when if you stated " I didn't see him or it " You automaticely Got charged with careless driving as you just admitted that you were not paying attention and if the victim, died you were charged with motor manslaughter. In Ontario the ministry has been posting " Be safe watch for Motorcycles " on the overhead display signs above major highways and yet people still seem to be ignorant of the motorcycling public. It is also amazing that it seldom involves cagers who ride motorcycles or know people who ride motorcycles.

Nope ...don't need one ....I have a good nose and feet for getting around in the dark..........If I bump my nose I know there is a wall or post there .... and if I trip and fall I know something was on the ground in front of me

Well maybe come next years show we will have to do this again.

Well we had a great turn out for sure. It was the perfect way to break up the winter isolation for those of us who do not have the luxery of ridding all year round. Food was good, the company of freinds was excellent and I do believe a good time was had by all. Many had been to the bike show, so needless to say what some of the conversation was about. I for one totally enjoyed it and would love to thank everyone who made it. Speacial thanks to bongobobny who produced the initial spark to make it happen.

Of course none of this will get discussed at Tuckers Sat night ....will it ???? Because I can get into enough trouble without any help.

which Garmin Zumo did you get?

Go for it Abdul. ...food for thought snow mobile suits work great on motorcycles too. Thats what I wear when I ride on cold winter days ( but only if the roads are clear and dry).

I have made reservations for Venture Riders at Tuckers Market place in Burlington for 8:00 PM this sat Jan 7th, for 25 +/- people. Please let me know if you are coming and if this time works out ok. It is the only time I could get here for a group this size. Other option would be to try another location to get something closer to 7:00 or 7:30. Keep in mind that although the time would be earlier. you could end up leaving later due to other places not being a self serve.

Tuckers is not a bad idea but on a Saturday it can get real busy. There is also Boston Pizza, the Keg and Jack Astor's all on the same cornor as Tuckers. Would help to know how many plan to attend. I know the owner of Ye Olde Squire I can talk to him and try and see if I can get something set up there as another option. It is just 2 streets south of the QEW on the cornor of Walkers line and fairview
