I will second that suggestion, for the average Joe its pretty much the best choice. With four needle gauges you have to be sure they are in sync with each other or you will get incorrect readings. Some high end ones can be re-calibrated prior to putting them to work but you pay well for those. Mercury ones I believe are no longer made since mercury has pretty much been banned.

What do you cook with on a camping Mc trip?
saddlebum replied to Pasta Burner's topic in Watering Hole
I remember doing all that in my younger years. Oh the memories. Another fire starter I also used was soaking news paper with hot parafin wax then roll them up into tight 1 inch dowels while still soft. once they cooled I cut them into 1 to 1-1/2' pieces. To start a fire you peel back about an inch of the roll for a wick and light. They burned for a long time and were unaffected if they got wet. Little folding twig stoves are also amazingly light and effective. -

Thats just a @Marcarlcode. He has several all meaning the same thing. -
I was looking forward to it but unfortunately I can.t trust my knee right now to stand up to such a trip and having been off work for the past 2 and half years fuel costs are somewhat prohibitive right now.

I'm Kind of New, but Not New... Just Older.

Good to see you back Brian. You sure loaded yourself down with some hefty projects. Hope you left yourself some time to get out and feel the breezes. -
I wish all the luck on a job well done. I am on the threshold of looking at a knee replacement myself. When and how bad it needs to get before doing one I have no idea. But will be interested in hearing about your experience.

It is sad that things are slowing down but I am glad you are determined to keep the site up and running. I generally look in daily though I have a few times gone for days were I never open my laptop. Thanks again @Freebirdfor all your hard work. AS far as face book goes I don't even have an account and likely never will. VR is the only social media i am on and its the only one I need.

They all have been great Rallies and I totally enjoyed each and every one of them. However if I had to choose the most memorable one, for me it would be Guntersville AL. After leaving Canada I hooked up with Jim (aka: Jayceesfolly may he rest in peace ) at Salamanca and we rode down together sticking to the small mountain back roads all the way. It added an extra day of riding but the mountain scenery and riding those twisty mountain roads, just made for an amazing ride. Camping were the deer came right up to your tent and the tour of the Amazing Cathedral caverns all added up to a trip, that for me was unforgettable.

North East Coast Riders, It's Time For a Reality Check!
saddlebum replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Always a great reminder of good advice. Maybe even more so for seasoned riders since we sometimes get to comfortable and overlook whats important. BTW who you calling crazy? -
How can we say NO - after all we let that grumpy ol coot @Marcarl stick when he reduced himself to a spider. It would just be to darn hippo-critical or somt'n likes dat. Plus we likes Trina ----So you kinda owe her a nice dinner outing for having your back.

Very well put and yet there are exceptions were children and the quality of their up bringing does actually come first over self gratification and it actually shows. Yet despite the proven results of good diligent old fashioned parenting, there are still those who despite their amazement at how well kids brought up this way behave and develop good social attitudes, still insist their way is better or put their own gratification first then sit back and wonder why their kids are not so well behaved or develop an attitude of entitlement.

I will probably get crucified for what I am about to say. So forgive me if I hide in my corner after my comment but I am a firm believer that the growing increase of parents who spoil rather than discipline their children and the growing trend towards leniency is a big part of the problem. I also believe that when both parents work and kids are shoveled off to daycare rather than one parent staying home to raise the kids is also a factor, though I do realize in many cases do to financial hardship parents have no choice. Toss in the lawyers who manage to turn many black and white situations into grey areas which almost always lets perps off the hook specially if the perp has sufficient financial backing versus those who do not. The confidence rendered in the fact that actions may not result in consequence is IMHO a big factor. I go hide now before the tomatoes and eggs start flying.

Generally clutch pulsing is the result of warped discs same as a brake pulse. I would probably replace the clutch and and pressure plate. Also make sure your hydraulics is completely releasing pressure to the slave cylinder or whether or not the slave is hanging up for some reason and not fully backing off.

Google maps and Garmin Base Camp

I use Tom Tom's phone app. I find it very accurate and unlike many other phone apps it does not require a phone or Data signal to function. Granted when you do not have a signal additional features such as traffic conditions or fuel prices will not function but the Phone will continue working like any other GPS. I also find it to be more accurate than Garmin and much quicker as well as more accurate when doing a search even when your off line. For this reason I have pretty much kissed my Garmin good bye.
