  1. We do this all the time on big rigs. Ist we incease spring capacity. then we increase tire and wheel size together we are able to apply for a complience sticker showing a higher gvwr. There are however some restrictions as to how far you can go. This is based on axle size and wheel bearing size, they do have limitations as to how far you can go oversize.
  2. saw a similiar thing a couple weeks back. The bicycle was disassembled into three sections and secured in a special mount attached to the bike over the pass seat and rear fender area.
  3. You really need to post some pics of this tool.
  4. I must make a correction on the post below, it was a $200 increase over two years. last years rate was $812.00 ....Still way too D----- much though $900 for bare minimum insurance ---give me break PS this is not socialism -- we don't have that here in Canada ----it is corporate RIP OFF.
  5. Too Plug or not too plug, is too general of a term. Plugs are different as day and night. And to be quite honest the only plug I would trust is this one http://www.techtirerepairs.com/Catalog/ItemList.aspx?SalesSubGroup=MR030&family=MR&salesGroup=MR03 I have been using these for over twenty years in fleet applications and would not trust anything else. If a complete inside/out repair is required this is the way to go http://www.techtirerepairs.com/Catalog/ItemList.aspx?SalesSubGroup=MR050&family=MR&salesGroup=MR05
  6. Just recieved my insurance renewal. Hard to believe They INCREASED it $200.00 over last years to $900.00 for the year. This is for $1,000,000.00 public liability ONLY .(No collision. No personal Injury. No loss). How in the world can they justify such legalized highway ROBBERY. And this is through RIDERS PLUS who are supposed to be motorcycle friendly. I am convinced that there is a secret agenda by the Government of Canada and the Insurance Companey's to rid the world of Motorcycles. Am I ticked off .....you bet I am. I think its long past due that All Motorcyclists launch a MAJOR PROTEST.
  7. Soo I suppose dat der's your story and yuze is a stickin to it huh
  8. How come there wasn't one this year , answer me that Big Tom . .
  9. Sorry to hear you had to loose your Dad. Hope the surviving family is holding up OK
  10. As everyone else has already said, I am glad you are OK. A bruise or two is much better than what could have been.
  11. Definitly a much wiser move. I wasn't really thinking open brushes at the time. Guess I just got lucky
  12. RUN BRAD . . RUUUNNNN:bikersmilie:
  13. He has a 2nd Gen so its pretty certian that he had to use the up and down bar method :rotfl:
  14. Thats what I did a couple years ago. I taped the nozzle close to the entrance and once in awhile a little shot of wasp spray to be sucked in as well. by the end of about four hours I had an inch and half of dead wasps. The interesting thing was the more that got sucked in the more that returned to the hive to help (I think they are telepathic) of course they got sucked in too. PS that was also the end of the hive. Final touch was a bit of non expanding spray foam to seal the holes.
  15. I read that too but at the time I felt it much safer, to just cut the nylon rings and leave the metal tubes in place, popping the diaphrams over the lip. worked very well that way, with much less fuss.
  16. That is before taxes, insurance fees, cost of living expenditures and oh did I mention taxes:mo money:
  17. With all the free food you offered them . . . . . you would think the least they could have done was to offer to finish off your siding for you. :rotfl:
  18. Sorry about your predicament, but why did you try to pull the metal ring out ? To get the plastic rings off, you simply nip them in half with a pair of wire cutters and then to install the diaphrams you simply gently stretch them over the lip of the metal sleeve. Just don't over strecth them. see the instruction sheet http://jbmindustries.com/Yamaha650.html
  19. I agree, but it is a simple enough check to just eliminate the possibility, as remote as it may be.
  20. When you say olive oil, are you including Pure Virgin Olive Oil  I have ran the Amsoil synthetic motor oil in my 89VR but switched back regular non-synthetic oil . I found my engine sounded a lot more mechanically noisy with the synthetic, speacially the vlaves.
  21. A short test in the shop may not catch an overcharging sustem if it is a suttle one or intermitant. Put a volt meter on the battery and moniter charging, while riding. There are usually only two reason for acid smell. defective battery (eg: a bad or shorted cell in the battery) or overcharging charging system boiling the battery. Moniter the voltmeter while riding to see if at any time the voltage exceeds 14.8 volts. Another quick simple check is with ignition left off, disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Connect one lead of the voltmeter to the neg post of the battery and the other end to the disconnected ground cable (an ammeter would be better for this but not everyone has one and the voltmeter will suffice). Reverse leads if the needle swings in the wrong direction or if using a digital it shows neg voltage. You should see less than 1/2 a volt, If it shows more, say as high as 10 to 12 volts you have a parasitic drain. Start pulling fuses one at a time until the voltmeter drops, this will indicate which cicuit is draining the battery. Put the fuse back in and start disconnecting individual items on that circuit to pin it down to the cause. Keep in mind that some items like the radio or othe on board electronics do constantly draw some power to maintain memory. Disconnet thier fuses to remove them from the equation.
  22. Congratulations Bob. Enjoy your new found freedom. I guess this means Goldie will be seeing some major TLC--- in between parties of course. ....... Uhh speaking of which -----When is the party:dancefool::dancefool:
  23. My left front fairing actually consists of two good halves bonded together with plastex and reinforced with fiberglass drywall tape on the inside embedded in more platex. So far no one has been able to pick out were I spliced the joint, so for all intents and purposes it is as good as new. Final answer . . . . keep them you never know.
  24. ...It was probably his 1st bike and a Harley at that. ... ...As a result he was most likely super impressed with himself...... ....Guess thast didn't last long... :rotfl:
  25. I called him on the phone via the number he provided in the other post and As it turned out, the headlight was not the issue. It was taillights that cut out. I pulled up some schematics and tried to help as much as possible over the phone. I believe he managed to run a bypass wire to his taillights to get himself mobile. A note of thanks to those members that over the years went to the trouble of converting schematics and manuals into PDF files and posting them. As a result I managed to compile quite a folder and as a result this file has come in handy on more than one occasion.
