  1. What, you were in Canada and you did not call:backinmyday:
  2. I have to Agree with big Tom. Although the idea of a substitute MD is not a bad idea and no disrespect intended towards those who like the idea, its just that for me right now it would not feel the same. Freebird's MD is just that, Freebird's MD. Wether or not I would go to an alternate MD, remains to be seen as I still do enjoy meeting up with all the members I have gotten to know and have yet to meet. More importantly what ever has disrupted the flow of Freebird's and Eileen's life at the moment, I hope will soon be set right.
  3. Gee Don you haven't suddenly developed a fear of Mini have you? On a more serious note, I hope whatever the reason, that it is more a case of bad timing then one of a serious nature. I know you look forward to this annual event as much as we do. Since getting involved with VR in 2006 I think I have missed only one. It has become an annual fix for me, looking forward to meeting you Eileen and all the rest of the crew ( even Yammer if you can believe that). Good luck and may God be with you and hopefully whatever the situation is that it will come to pass quickly and all will be well soon. Hopefully we will still meet somewhere and shake warm hands of friendship before the summer ends.
  4. Wanna go for a ride
  5. Ok just remember the majority of us are old members and we ride 1st Gens Not fair ---dirty pool all one of you huh Oops I remember a couple MD's --one of you might actually be overkill:Avatars_Gee_George:
  6. What ............No hot sex small 1st aid kit in soft pouch a tool kit in soft tool bag spare plugs, bulbs and fuses a bit wire, tape and connectors a small assortment of zip ties, bungie cords and small length of rope (I never go anywhere without a length of 1/2" rope) rain gear and thermal vest. a change of dry clothes (specially underwear for those after a close call situations:shock3: ) I probably carry too much but often I don't know if I am going to stay over night somewhere so I also carry a compact air mattress a compact sleeping bag a small 2 man tent (eureka spitfire II, rolls up the size of a thermos bottle) small cooking kit and compact stove. Believe it or not it all fits in my saddle bags leaving my top trunk empty for whatever.
  7. and looking cool
  8. Are you sure you are not mistaken ---------That looks more like BIG TOM to me. ........After coming out of Hibernation toooooo early. As for myself I will take this steady dry cold and snow over slushy damp wet winter days any time. And I do work outside, a lot, this time of year, fixing broken down transports. Laying in the snow beats laying in ice cold slush, that soaks through your clothes.
  9. Wish this had been posted a year ago. maybe I wouldn't have lost my spare RX glasses. :bang head: Now how about the leather jacket, rain suit, vest and gloves. Will there be a sequel.
  10. I myself have never tried it, never was that interested in trying it, and I do not judge those that do. However here is an interesting point. As most know ,Holland has allowed legalized pot for many years, yet about five years back, I read an article, were Holland is rethinking its decision, to legalize it because the government, is beginning to feel that the free use of it seems to be having a negative effect on the people. In what way, I am not sure and I never saw any more articles about it after that. Just interesting food for thought. Though it would initially seem that it would put a big dent in the drug cartels revenue, I would wonder, since it is not their only drug of revenue and therefore think it would not be much of a dent at all, it may even be a means for them to partially legitimize their operation.
  11. This may be true....But Ohhhhh the headaches, every day I dread going into work knowing I will be faced with more frustrated semi drivers...and who can blame them:bang head:
  12. May the lord be with him and protect him as well as give strength and faith to his family .
  13. And of course like all emissions systems the SCR system comes with its own special brand of problems. At work we have opened up exhaust/DEF systems were due to dosing problems the inside of the exhaust system was left looking like it got hit by an arctic snow storm and plugged up solid with dried up DEF.
  14. Personally I would prefer a gas job in a pickup truck. Once you do get into maintenance be prepared to crack open the piggy bank, Gas engines are much cheaper to maintain and tend to require very little. fuel economy is not much different. Having said that however stay away from the early 6.6 Duramax. They have a lot of injector and fuel pump problems. At one point we were replacing injectors on 2-3 trucks a week. Easy way to spot the early model from the later model is by the valve cover. In the early model the injector was under the valve cover which required valve cover removal to replace. In the later model the head and valve cover were redesigned so that the injector could be replaced without removing the valve cover. Ironically this model was not plagued with injector issues the way the earlier one was. As a matter of fact we rarely see them come to the shop. Also as pointed out earlier regardless which diesel truck you get make sure the engine is backed up with the Alison transmission.
  15. WOW thanks for posting.
  16. A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says,'I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir.' The driver says, 'Gee, officer, I had it on cruise control at 60; perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating. ' Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: 'Now don't be silly, dear -- you know that this car doesn't have cruise control.' As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, 'Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once !! ?' The wife smiles demurely and says, 'Well dear you should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did or your speed would have been higher.' As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, 'Woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?' The officer frowns and says, 'And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic fine.' The driver says, 'Yeah, well, you see, officer, I had it on, but I took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket.' The wife says, 'Now, dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you're driving.' And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket, the driver turns to his wife and barks, ' WILLYOU PLEASE SHUT UP??' The officer looks over at the woman and asks, 'Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?' (I love this part) 'Only when he's been drinking'
  17. AHH but after the initial outlay and you start mass producing then how much would a gun cost? Group buy anyone

  19. You obviously haven't been to a meet and eat recently or you would realize we are not slow at all
  20. saddlebum

    Why?

    because!
  21. How about gangs and drug cartels producing their own weapons at will. They would not have to smuggle anything.
  22. When you get right down to it, it really is a catch 22. If laws are too harsh innocent people get caught in the net. And if they are too lax criminals get away with doing what ever they feel like. Then of course there is the money factor. If you have lots of it you stand a good chance of getting off, even if you are guilty and if you have very little, you may not get off, even if you are innocent. Really makes you wonder where this world is headed.
  23. Glad to hear conditions are improving Earl, That is good news indeed. Hopefully the surgery, if and when it comes to that will be a walk in the park.
  24. I just read the post Earl and am very sorry to hear about Jean. Hopefully she wil pull through and be alright.
  25. It seems you did not need it..........You apparently are quite the cat tamer Glad You and Becky made it home safe, sound and with full belly's. :fatsmiley:and hopefully that goes for all. Thanks for the tip Brad ....I checked my watch and it turns out it was still on 2013 time. Last but not least thank you to all that came to this third annual Burlington M&E. It was a pleasure to see both old and new faces. We even had a small American invasion, which was really nice to see. All in all a great way for Ventureriders to get together and roll in the New Year.
