  1. That is right Chris once I managed to get a GAG on Carl the rest of the day was a real pleasant ride. If you like, You can call my cell its in my Profile or PM me if you want to hook up with me in Burlington and we can ride from there to Casablanca. I plan on leaving the house at 8:00 am so I can have a coffee before Carl drinks it all. That goes for anyone else passing through Burlington on the way.
  2. Prayers and best wishes to you Brown Angel - Hope you recover quickly and soundly.
  3. Thats cause Canadian Skeeters have a milder and more sweeter diet. Close but thats the hard way ...... and quite frankly I am surprised you would do it that way. ....The better way is you take a hammer and knock the needle into a board and then you peel the skin back and off just you like you would a cat fish.
  4. Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the bike. Glad your brother in law is OK though.
  5. So what your saying is ....you still live in the 50's though the rest of the world has moved on.
  6. Unless the previous owner switched the wires so that the CB ant would now be on the right side which is something I would have done had I owned the bike. Why you say! Because generally field strenght reaches out further in the direction of the longest ground plane, that being diagonally from the back corner where antenna is mounted to front corner on the opposite side. Just saying. Now back to reality. NICE BIKE!!
  7. Your right it is .... Soooooo why don't you put the shovel down and show Don some sympathy. After all The last thing he wants to do on MD day is cut Lawn
  8. Sadly its the chance we all take to enjoy the past time we love. Glad your one of the lucky ones to still be here to talk about it. Heal well my friend.
  9. For all it takes and the added benefits derived, I would definitely pull out the carbs and do a full tear down and restoration. Specially if it was already running poorly before you parked it. I even replaced the needle and seats. Be careful when you remove the seats from the bowel that you do not bend the pins that support the floats (don't ask). Once done its like having a whole new bike. Check out this thread for the rig I set up to bench set the floats. It worked like a charm. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86821-home-made-set-up-for-wet-setting-floats-on-the-bench
  10. Bett you suprised yourself with what you can do when you stop speech-a-fying long enough:essen_018:
  11. Check the MD calendar ... I will be there ....and thanks for the warning

  13. Try Sky Doc - Look in the Classifieds
  14. I take it that was the 1st MD group shot with Yammer on your right and Fool on your left. Wow MD has really grown since then
  15. I think the purple would look great. I would go with a two tone purple by replacing the dark grey with a dark shade of purple, Then have someone like J-Bird dress it up with some real nice pink, pink and gold or pink and silver pin stripping. Maybe a nice epitaph across the back of the trunk lid in her honor with the cancer pink ribbon above it. Or maybe form the epitaph in an arch over the ribbon.
  16. Didn't you go to high school during the LSD hey day's ----NUFF SAID:cool10:
  17. Now just for the record:backinmyday: The above statement is not entirely true Now that we are getting warmer weather we up here are staring to close the doors cause we don't want to let all that air conditioning out and cool down those nice warm days we are getting So the truth of the matter is that @Flyinfool has lost control of his weather machine and is looking to blame us innocent Canuks:canada:
  18. That Is absolutely true ------I even saw him have one with white and pink sprinkles on it.
  19. I will be at Casablanca waiting Having a nice warm cup of coffee.
  20. 1st off let me say that yes I can see some like myself posting less. Not because we are any less interested or Loyal to VR but because after being a member for and posting for almost 9 years I just do not have a lot to add to the majority of posts without repeating myself or remaking comments that have already been made. With the abundance of tech advice already on the site there is very little to add as well, other than to redirect a new comer as to were to find what they are looking for. I do however still jump on to see whats happening and to maintain friendships already acquired through this site and hopefully continue to make new friends. Its great that we have a site that is so full of tech advise that no matter what the issue the answer can almost always be found whether it be in the read only tech section or whether it be through advice given on the open forums. The tech info was the initial reason I joined this site but as time went on I gained and made some really wonderful friends. Even my wife who does not easily except most of the people I sometimes make friends with really enjoys those I have made friends with on this site. Another thing I really love about this site and its members, unlike a lot of other motorcycle sites, is that we are not so motorcycle indoctrinated that we feel we have to act like a bunch of one percent-er wanna Be's, but continue to be a regular bunch of fun loving family oriented CRAZY WONDERFUL people who enjoy each others company as well as riding and still maintain a PG environment. I enjoy our group gatherings, rallies and meet and greats. I enjoy the fact that members can count on other members for help in so many ways. I enjoy the fact that when members are on a road trip they can look forward to be welcomed by other members when in their area. In my opinion although this site started out as a site for the venture MC, and despite the fact that we now have many members that ride a brand other than the venture but yet still remain members says it all. Because at the end of the day regardless of brand, we all still love to VENTURE out on our motorcycles and so in that sense we are all still, VENTURE RIDER'S. Heyyyy WHO you callin'n old. I have to agree, though I have not traveled as far from home as those like Aussie Anne and Quick Step and even our frosty friend from Iceland affectionately known to us all as StarFan. I would never have had the pleasure of meeting them and many others closer to home had it not been for VR. Nor would I have traveled and triped to some of the places I had the pleasure of going to as a result of Rallies and meet and greets. Not possible, they would have to see us as something different from themselves in order to refer to us as such. But when they compare us to what they see in the mirror every morning they only see us as perfectly normal. Says it all and then some.
