  1. Yes and Merry Christmas to you and all the rest of VR riders as well
  2. Last time I was in Germany they did not care what lane you drove in. But if you did not move over to the lane to your right to make way for a vehicle overtaking you then you risked a 600 Euro fine. I think All of Canada and the USA should have a similar policy/law. Oh and by the way the consideration shown by Canada drivers tends to end once you get into the greater Toronto area were most drivers seem to have lost the matter normally found between ones ears.
  3. Dave as you know I am only 15 minutes or less away so if you get a chance call or PM me and we can set up a time to get together and check out your bike and see whats going on. Unless your buying substandard batteries or using a poor quality battery charger you either have a parasitic draw or your charging system is over charging and killing you batteries. I am more than happy to check it out for you.
  4. Try riders plus. so far for me they have been the cheapest at $860.00 per year. I might be able to get cheaper bike insurance elsewhere but only if I move all my other insurances over to them but They can't compete with my other insurance company on the other stuff. So all totaled leaving my other stuff with cooperators and my bike with riders plus gives me the cheapest overall package.
  5. I was told years ago when I was just a teenager by a friend of my fathers who was a lab tech for shell research that oil never wears out but only gets dirty and looses additives. Back when we used to change oil filters every second oil change he would say we had it backwards that we should be changing filters at regular intervalss and oil every second or or third filter change. I have never been one to change oil regularly once or twice a year and changed oil filters every other month and never lost an engine getting over 200,000 miles.out most of them. Also I tried syn oil in my bike and did not like the way the engine had more mechanicals noises. So zwitched back to dino oil. My brother who works for an oil.company says with today's technology in oil refining, oil is even better tha it was then. As far.as.diesel goes, it too has higher costs because they now have to get the sulpher out of the fuel and other impurities due to modern emissions standards. Just saying not justifing anything.
  6. Hey Carl do not know why I did not see this thread before now but for some reason I missed seeing it. Though I am sure glad to know no one got hurt, I am certainly sorry for your loss. Also feel free to call on me if you need a hand with anything. I would be more than happy to lend a hand or two if you need them.
  7. Back on the farm we had two wells. ..The first one we just dipped once because the pail came up empty:confused24:......Just say'n .............
  8. Glad that someone finally came to the right conclusion and corrected the issue before it become real bad state of affairs.
  9. That is great news for sure ( Although if it was because you had too much brain you could have had the surgery and passed the surplus on to me seen as how I seem to be missing a few, Not as many as Yammer :whistling:but enough .)............
  10. @cowpuc you mean to say you was born old . No wonder you and @Marcarl have so much in common
  11. I have watched the original three/trilogy, but when I heard the new one is episode 7, I got to my head. How did it go from 3 to 7 . So I got on google and investigated . Now as I understand it , The three original episodes I, II & III have been bumped to IV, V & VI, as they have created three so called prequels and named them episodes I, II & III which I have never seen and now they leap frogged and created episode VII . So does that mean I gotta go back and watch from the beginning again just so I will be able to understand what is going on in episode VII . On another note my grandchildren have never seen any of them and since between my wife, her sister and my daughter they own three Shih Tzu dogs, it will be interesting to see what my grand childrens reaction will be towards the Ewoks.
  12. Thank you @Marcarl and @cowpuc. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL It is very sad that the very Christianity that both US and Canadian governments were founded on, which allowed for religious freedom to all comers to this great continent is now being forced to stifle Christianity by the same religions who enjoyed those freedoms, while in the country's of their origin those with Christian beliefs are persecuted. I hope someday that Peace will cover the earth and that religious differences no longer become a cause of war hate and violence but become a basis for mutual Love Respect and understanding.
  13. Less than a month to go and although there will be some extra seats for last minute arrivals, the more accurate head count I have the better, so if you plan on coming please try to RSVP on the calendar as soon as possible.
  14. My bosses overdid it at the truck auction and bought a rig they regretted. I am pretty sure that they would have no objections to me borrowing it to take down @Flyinfools puny little Royal Dalton door.
  15. and a more accident free riding season than last season. I would also like to see an end to world wide violence.
  16. It has often been said if it ain't broke don't fix it. I am quite comfortable with the site as it is. I think that the sites uniqueness is the fact that we are primarily venture owners and this is our main bond, but yet with arms open to non-venture owners who are a part of this site because of who we are and the family type connection that also bonds us. I find that quite often an all makes bike forum tends to loose our type of identity and becomes dominated by the more radical and younger crotch rocket riders who would frown on our PG rating or conflict avoiding policies. I joined this club in 2006 which will soon be 10 years for me and I have enjoyed everything and everyone involved with this site. I have made some very strong friendships through this site and gained an amazing amount of both knowledge and help from this site and its members whenever I needed it whether I asked for it or not. I am also a member of a local bike forum dedicated to bikers in Greater Toronto Area which is an all make membership for the sake of local knowledge but I just do not feel as at home there as I do here.
  17. ----See what happens when you play with your cell phone during class. Maybe next time you will pay closer attention ------- ----OH WAIT THERE IS NO NEXT TIME. ------
  18. Guess I am the odd one because I still have a whole collection of cassettes and still play them in the truck on the bike and in the house all the time. Been meaning to get one of my kids to transfer the stuff to stick or I pod (cause I don't have the patience or finesse to do it). I really should push a little harder to either get one of them to do it or buckle down and do it myself before they start to tangle up. Some of the music on them you cannot find anymore and I already lost a couple favorite ones.
  19. I have used the Bondic as mentioned above. It is available at Home Depot. It works well for some things and for others very poorly. I found some materials it will not bond to (usually anything with a smooth surface) and will just peel off once cured. Some materials (usually porous) it will bond quite well. It does not work well for tight butt joints because if the UV light cannot reach the glue it will not cure. If making a butt joint you need to leave a bit of space and use it as a filler so that the UV light can reach the glue. At the end of the day even under circumstances were it will work . For sealing gaps, coating wires or sealing electrical joints its pretty good. All In all it is handy to carry around and use for quick temporary repairs but I have not considered it very reliable were any strength is required or for any long term repair
  20. No problem Mike I always book a few extra seats just for this sort of thing.
  21. Took you long enough to figure out how privileged you are.
  22. The Burlington Ontario 5th Annual M&E 2016, is only a month away. So if you plan on coming please go to the calendar http://www.venturerider.org/forum/ca...1-9&redirect=1 and RSVP so I can get a head count for reservations. We have had a great turn out every year so far so lets have another good Venture rider and friends turn out this year and ring in the new year VR style.
  23. I am not disputing the dangers involved in riding a motorcycle. I think it is something we are all aware of but accept the risk because it equally involves the other side of the risk. The euphoria and sense of freedom we feel when we ride. There is something about touring and seeing the sights from the back of a motorcycle that surpasses that of cruising in a cage. A modern day version of riding the open plains on horseback. Not sure if its just me but there are many occasions when I am riding that I think to myself will I be one of the lucky ones who gets to ride his entire life without incident or will I be one of the unlucky ones. Either way I am thinking, but I enjoy riding so much. I often finding myself justifying what I do by thinking we do not get to choose how we leave this world but we do get to decide to some degree what we do while we are here. And so I continue to ride even though deep down I know that my logic makes no sense at all since there is an accepted risk involved no matter how you look at it. So for those of us that do enjoy riding may we all remain safe and grow old doing what we love.
  24. Hey @cowpuc you keep say that. Why is that.
