  1. Ok Flyinfool you just Just hold on one doggone minute here .............. I am being framed ..............I aint left no door open .........YET
  2. Just took a look at it and played a bit. Seems pretty cool
  3. Which model of the tom tom rider are you using. I had the rider II and loved it until it quit. the only issue I had was screen visibility on sunny days but I am led to believe they solved that issue with their newest model. I currently use the Zumo 660 which has great daylight visibility but I find searching points of interest and some addresses not as quick or effective as my old Tom Tom was, many times responding with cannot be found. I have also found an app called HERE which seems to work very well w/voice directions and it even will give inside mall directions to stores etc.. It is a free download. Plus it does not require data to function so if you loose phone signal it will continue to guide you VIA satellite signal just like a regular GPS. With regards to water on the screen try going to some of the outdoor stores and check out various hard cases I have a clear one that works great. only downside is phone has to be removed to operate unless you turn on hands free mode and either blue tooth or plug in a hands free wire.
  4. Ok so now I have a question. Taking into account all the pictures taken of Carl and myself over the years. Ive started noticing that in the majority of pics Carls are a frontal view were most of the time all anyone gets to see of me is the bald spot on the top of my head. Its pretty bad when Carl and I walk into a group of venture riders and they say Hello Carl right away but I have to bend down so they can see the top of my head before they recognized me " Oh saddlebum its you"
  5. Can't say for sure what my longest ride is but I have set out a few times at 7:00 ish in the AM and arrived home 1or 2 AM the following day. One such ride was a color ride Carl, Abdul and I did some years back. I believe I left the house about 6:am that trip and met up with Carl in Rockwood and the we hooked up with Abdul i think near Caledon. Abdul only rode with us for part of that trip but broke away near Collingwood to visit some friends of his.
  6. I agree total with what Carl says. With the valve cover, 1st choice would be new gasket and rubber washers for the retaining bolts. Second choice would be a tube of RIGHT STUFF (far better than any silicone product) and some stainless washers for the valve cover bolts. Either way should have a tube of black RIGHT STUFF any way as even with a new gasket its good to use a bit in corners. Most auto suppliers and Canadian tire stores carry it.
  7. @Midicat I just got off the phone with Marcarl and we had a little discussion. So here is what we are suggesting if you want to bring your bike to Carls this Sat we can pull the wheels, you can take them up to Zednos get your tires on and balanced. In the mean time depending on what exactly it is what you want done Carl and I can work away at the rest of the bike.
  8. I am inclined to agree with Carl. They do a lot of work on various bikes there and may even be good at it but it seems to me most places are a little sketchy when it comes to our ventures. As Carl pointed out what sort of issues are you having. As far as the tires go I would pull the wheels either at home or a friends and just take the wheels in. That way you can be sure to lube the rear drive as required which I have heard from some that they forget to do or are maybe not aware of. But price wise on tires and standing behind them They have been good. I have used them 3 times for that now.
  9. Like me, my Daughter in Law loves old planes and loves motorcycles. Well the B17 was at the Hamilton air museum and since my Son and His 2 boys were off camping. She called me up to tell me she was going to see the B17 and would I like to come. I agreed and countered with a suggestion to Take the bike, which made her even more excited. So dropping everything, I picked her up and we had a very pleasant scenic ride stopping for several hours at the air museum and ending the day with My Son and their 2 boys meeting us at my place were my wife made us all a great dinner.
  10. If wire connections are loose or dirty, it creates resistance which in turn creates heat which can melt wires, even the wires themselves if they get hot enough so clean and secure all wire connections.
  11. I disagree you may think Bob is better looking and you are entitled to your opinion but Becky gets my vote.
  12. Just saw the thread now. Gotta do some pondering on this but I just may be up for it. Will know better once I have conversed with upper management.
  13. My condolences to the family as well
  14. I missed everyone as well but due to the fall I took which aside from a cracked tail bone included back and neck injuries, I had no choice but to stay home. They also managed to scare the pants off of me when they called me in 2 days ago to say the neck xray indicated a fractured c-6 Vertebra in my neck and that the muscle spasm was holding it together. Went on to tell me to head straight to emergancy because I was a walking time bomb and that anything could happen inc stop breathing if it should shift. So CT scan was taken and I was given a clean bill of health. Apparently when you get older X-rays on bones can be a bit deceiving, something to do with the effect of age on bones. Better safe than sorry though. Note I said age not old age.
  15. Since none of the three mouthkateers Marcarl, Tooch and Saddlebum (the quieter of the three) did not appear who carried the speech-a-fying ball
  16. Main thing is clean and dust free. then spray the plastic with a plastic bonding agent (body shop supply stores carry this) then primer wet sand with 600 grit or finer paper then the base coat. wet sand again with 600 or finer grit paper then apply clear coat. Wash thoroughly with running water after each sanding and let dry . wipe with clean cloth and appropriate solvent prior to applying the various coats of paint.
  17. Then there is the other side of the coin. I have ignored legit notices out of fear of it being a scam and ended up with issues because of that.
  18. I so miss not being there. Instead I got to go see the Doctor who sent me for neck x-ray's and CT scan. it appears when I slipped and fell landing flat on my back I fell a lot harder than just hurting my tail bone. He thinks I may have suffered a minor concussion since my ear drums started feeling like they where full of water and it felt like I could both feel and hear my heart beat in my ears. P/S BIG TOM whoever told you I was a hard ass? Hard headed maybe (or at least I was) but just too nice a guy (polite Canuck) to be a hard ass.
  19. I am pretty sure that for the most part your fleecing theory applies mostly to the middle class. The government being one of the biggest fleecers.
  20. I STAND corrected I have to LAY out this. Gonna miss you guys too Bob I have been looking forward to this event and could not wait for the time to arrive but I was helping a friend out stepped on a wet slippery part of his deck, both feet went straight up in the air and I came down hard.
  21. Sorry to say but I am going to have to sit this one out. I took a bad fall last weekend and cannot sit because of an injured tailbone and neck.
  22. Having a few issues to deal with but If I get them sorted in time I will try to join up with you at Casablanca.
  23. This thread makes me sick to my stomach. When I think of what us poor Canucks get raped for when it comes to insurance.
  24. You should not be going that fast anyway ------ you will lose your tent poles ------- Silly me I forgot you don't bring tent poles.
