OK here is an old one for you "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" Explanation to follow but I'll let you all think on it for a bit. Its reeal fun when you throw this one at the younger crowd or this one "smarten up or you'll get a switchen"

Really sorry to see another of the old guard have to climb down off their steed . But having had a relationship on and/or off line is far better than never having had one at all specially with this crowd . No need to leave the site though, as we have all become more then just common venture owners. Many as you well know have formed friendships and bonds and mutual interests that go beyond the site and for that I for one am grateful this site came to be. All thanks to some guy called flea bird or was it tree bird or was it bee herd oh wait maybe it was Tea Nerd nope no I think ..................wait I got it @Freebird. So hopefully the fine tradition on this site continues. Like many here I do miss a lot of the old members from way back when, but at the same time enjoy meeting many of the new and upcoming members . In the meantime enjoy your Mi ti's :doh:oh sorry I mean Miata's (but not both at the same time.

For the most part this is true but don't overlook the terminals in the connector plug. If the the terminals are corroded or loose fitting it will give the same symptoms as cold or cracked solder joints. Try tipping up the panel and wiggling and/or pressing the connector and see if the E4 code goes away. If it does you have more or less localized your problem. Re solder the solder joints, if possible remove the old solder first. I have used both the solder suction toll and the copper braid to do this and both work well. Then re solder. Also pull the the terminals out of the plug one at a time inspect, clean and re tension with a small pick before reconnecting it to the class computer.

Sounds to me like the guy prefers an engine you can lug at low RPM. My suggestion to him is put a small diesel in a bike, Nothing lugs like a diesel engine. The only exception is the old Detroit 2 stroke diesel, like the V4 it loves RPM,s. On another note, I seem to have more of a problem with trying to keep my speed down then I do in getting there. I have occasionally found when getting on the highway and I punch it on the ramp to accelerate to highway speed, I have looked down to see that all though I am in third I have far exceeded the speed limit and haven't even left the ramp yet and have to back off the throttle to smoothly merge with traffic. That to to me is far from Anemic. If someone can't ride any machine and learn to feel where that machines power curve is than he is not a natural rider.

When microsoft pretty much forced us to upgrade to windows 10 from 7 and 8 my computer worked like it was firing on half its cylinders, freezing and all sorts of other stuff. finally it crapped out all together. Call Wayne up he takes my laptop and redoes the whole thing and its working fantastic. I finally have a properly functioning laptop .. .....But wait Microsoft now wants to update my laptop again and it sounds like I have no choice, with windows 10 creator (also known as windows 10 version 1703). Has any one done this up grade and am I justified in feeling just a whole lot terrified? or will this be painless with no long term side affects.

Glad to see a good time was had by all. And Paul no one could have said it any better about this group. Like you my 1st social event was Carls venture in in 2006 and I have never looked back with any regrets. I have made great friends and always seem to add a few each year. I think this is one of the most down to earth groups a person can join up with. The next comment I gotta make is regarding those pictures ...as if it wasn't bad enough missing out on this years event. .....you cruel people are posting pictures so I can actually see what I missed.....But keep keep em coming any way I really do enjoy looking at them. GREAT PICS everyone.

There are a few in the area that would help on line but hands on help this weekend would not be so easy since many of the more knowledgeable ones are in Minden for the Ontario Rally. Myself I am laid up with a bad virus or I too would be in Minden. He might have better luck next weekend. On that note what exactly is his issue?

Unfortunately I am very sick with a viral chest and sinus cold and laryngitis, so I will be not going. I hope everyone has a good time anyway (In other words try not to miss me too much). I will definitely miss spending the time with each and all of you as I was looking so forward to this event the moment Don announced a sequel to last years event. So ride safe everyone, enjoy the weekend and post lots of pictures.

To be honest do not have a fixed time yet. It will take about 2 - 2 1/2 hours from Burlington to Mount Albert road and 48. Hoping to leave Burlington around 9 or 10 at the latest . Basically have to see what time stickhandler can make it into Burlington as he has a fair piece to go to get to Burlington.

Keep in mind this is the Indy Toronto weekend. there will be road closures and lots of traffic. Can we be more specific as to the location. Front st is long and just how far west of Jarvis.

can someone please explain this (non-motorcycle)

I found some times using different grades of gasoline when you don't need to is kind of like giving a patient a placebo. I bought a truck from a good friend of mine who always told me he got more millage and better power when he ran premium gas yet when I tried to compare with the same truck after i bought it just for kicks the only difference I found was I paid more per gallon for gas but gained nothing. Maybe he just had more faith than me. -

Whether or not you should be using regular or high octane fuel is based mostly on the compression and timing specs of your engine. The higher the octane is, the slower it burns it actually (contrary to popular belief) is not necessarily a better grade of fuel. In a low compression engine you can actually loose performance and get worse fuel millage burning 91 octane or higher because it does not ignite as readily. In high compression engines higher octane fuel is used because it has a higher flash point, this is to prevent what is commonly referred to as pre-ignition. Many older folks may recall the unexplained rattling noise coming from your engine when pulling a loaded trailer or climbing a steep grade. You either retarded your timing (which resulted in power loss or you ran a higher octane fuel. In simple terms Octane is a flame retardent it raises the temp required for fuel to burn or ignite. Todays engines with all the electronics and sensors are able to control preignition where older non-electronic engines could not so a good part of the sales rhetoric to put higher octane fuel in your vehicle is plain hype. However some smaller engines like weed eaters and chain saws require the higher octane fuel, Why? Because those little guys run very high compresion ratios and regular gas can damage the pistons due to preignition. If you ever see a piston that has suffered preignition damage it will look like some one had a field day with a little shot gun.
