  1. Not sure you had nothing to do with it ---You may have started a trend on the poor old girl. Once picked on always picked on.
  2. I will look into it tomorrow, as well the wheels are off so I will get new hides put on tomorrow as well. Gotta phone around some and see who has stock, most likely Zedno's. I have used them twice in the past and there pricing with installation was as good as I could find and they stand behind their tires. and then scour there shed while I wait, for some parts to replace the damaged stuff or grab some lunch or both.
  3. That ain't helping I could get superstitious. If I ain't already. well I could if you happen to be available cause I noticed while pulling the wheels my fork seals are leaking worse than I initially thought. Your assistance might expedite things a bit since I have not done them before. I checked out Freebird's posting on the subject and it looks like a fair amount of work assuming I can get the seals on time.
  4. Thanks Dave and on that note, even better yet that my friend did not get hurt since I asked him to give me hand. Funny how there is often still a bright side to bad situations.
  5. I have no idea, I think it boils down to the individual and how you feel about the bike. It certainly is not an investment issue. I for one love the 1st gen bike with regards to its handling, ride comfort (specially on long trips) and performance. It can be a challenge at times and yet when its in top form its a hard bike to beat IMHO.
  6. So today I was in the process of putting the bike up on the lift table, to pull the wheels so I could replace the tires, and just to be safe had a friend stand by to help. Well he thought the front wheel clamp would hold the bike up and so let go of the bike to grab a safety strap. What a sickening sight to see my bike topple over and go crashing to the floor from the elevated table. Surprisingly not much seems to have got damaged, I guess landing on plastic blue recycling boxes was somewhat of a good fortune. So far the major damage is (1) my brand new clearview windshield I just bought 2 years ago which between cost, exchange, duty and shipping ran me $450.00. (2) the radio controller on the handle bars,(3) the back rest and (4) some scratches in the paint. To think if I had just done it from the garage floor like I have always done in the past It would not have happened. Goes to show how the best of intentions sometimes just bites you in the butt. On another note looks like my fork seals are leaking pretty bad so while the wheels are off I guess they will be added to my to do list.
  7. Not much to add here. Abdul pretty much said it and I do add my thanks to Bernie And Dave for opening their home to accommodate us and take the pressure off of Marca who I hope took full advantage of the break to recuperate from her procedure. Also Carl for the great burgers. Marca, I will be round to bug you and make up for lost time soon. And speaking of miracles it wasn't so much that as it was the fact that Carl substituted a road full of manure in place of the usual U-turns and such, and I'm not talking about his speechifying either. Meeting Puc again was a good twist to this annual affair Sorry I did not get to say good bye as I had no idea he was going to be gone and heading out before we returned from the Gelato Place. At the end of the day we all went home knowing we had a great time, Again.
  8. Prayers up for Kevin and Family. and once again the loss of aother fellow rider is certainly a sad state of affairs.
  9. Since you plan to get it anyway. Get er done and expedite if you can. That way if you do get it on time you can still come.
  10. MD is still up in the air. A lot going on and I still need to replace the hides on my rims. Though I don't feel to threatened by the currant state of surface crazing and Dogman Is only 20 min from my house, I would feel better with new hides for a long highway trip. The main issue is getting it done in time for the trip given how fast time seems to be flying by with everthing going on. In any case, My camping and travel gear is all set to go just in case.
  11. Well I sure hope Tips gets to feeling better so you can make it to ...:178:mans. Be great to see the pair of you owl hoots again since its been some time since I last saw the two of you.
  12. Since we are on the subject of tires at what point would side wall weather checking be considered risky. I am showing some very fine surface weathering on my tires but not even close to penetrating to the cord, looks more like fine cat scratches. Were it a car I would not hesitate to continue running them but I am kinda sitting on the fence with regards to getting at least one more season out of them specially since they still have plenty of tread. Kinda sucks cuss last time I replaced them even though I had lots of tread because the rubber got too hard and I was loosing grip on the road surface. and now again I seem to be having to consider replacing tires that still have plenty of tread.
  13. More than likely I will be camping at Dons This is assuming I manage to get there.
  14. Ahh but you see up here natures provides all, For going potty there are leaves (we try to avoid the poison ivy ones), birch bark, pine cones or sap for tinder just to name a few. And 2 sticks to rub together to ignite the fire Oh and to bring them home you lay em in your saddlebags on top of wet grasses with more wet grasses on top orrrr if you really want em fresh you put em in your saddle bag then fill it with water so their still alive when you get home. Like I said who in their right mind brings a newspaper fishing. All that news is what you go fishing for to get away from.
  15. Personally I like it the way it is with the separate classified section. If you put it in the Forum you would have to weed through a lot of posts to find something and secondly it would clutter up the watering hole etc. By having classifieds as separate link as it is now you have an easier time looking for something because you don't have as many posts to scroll through. P/S I never take a news paper fishing ....who does that anyway
  16. Ok :backinmyday:first of all there is a major fault in both of @cowpucs scenario stories.... ...Who for the love of Pete in their right mind brings a newspaper on a fishing trip
  17. Good to hear he is improving.
  18. There's no better safety equipment than fore site coupled with common sense. Unfortunately even the best of us can slip up on that one on occasion when sudden impulse sneaks in and takes control. Your friend was probably well aware he messed up and the back talk, was probably him just trying to hide his embarrassment.
  19. I kinda wish you had of, but like you said its only reasonable to figure I saw it. But with so much going on I have been on site hit and miss sometimes I only check the 1st page just for a quick peek. Not that any of it will make a difference now. Either way he will be missed.
  20. I do not know how I missed this post other than the fact that I have only been taking quick peeks as of late due primarily to other issues going on in my life. But I sure wish I had not had to see this one late or otherwise. Dan was one of the 1st I connected with here on the site back in 2006 and always one of my favorite people to banter back and forth with. It was one of greatest pleasure when I finally got to meet him in person at the 1st MD I attended and then later at many rallies since. I was so looking forward to seeing him again at this years MD along with everyone else. It was always sad how one thing after another always seemed to befall either on Dan himself or one of his Family members. Maybe this was just the lords way of saying enough is enough time to come home Dan. I like many others will miss you Dan and to your family I offer up my deepest condolences. Rest in peace my friend.
  21. Not sure How I missed the earlier post of this but since being preoccupied with other matters i have only been taking brief looks at the site. Certainly hope and pray that he pulls through this.
  22. I am pretty sure they are claiming the light out put is the same as an 1,100W bulb not the actual wattage or currant draw. My LED fog lights run on a 2 amp fuse 20 gauge wire and put out more light than a halogen bulb.
  23. and the Marca Part of Marcarl Took Carl down in the 1st round:Avatars_Gee_George:
  24. OHHH you so should have checked with Marcarl before ordering. Good chance he has some barely used ones cause he used to just lay the bike down instead of using the side stand.
