Yeh, a number of years ago I contacted Yamaha about that to see if there was a fix for that. Apparently they tried but failed so they simply discontinued the production of the 1st Gen. They finally found a solution to this problem when they came out with the 2nd GEN.

yup my 89 likes best above 3500, though since I rebuilt the carbs she don't mind cruising along at 2000 rpm at all and will speed up without stuttering from there unless I want to just up and take off then I got to drop a gear or two.

years ago back in the late eighties, I was fleet maint manager for a fleet of trucks. A rep from Quaker state came to see me about supplying me with bulk oil. When I commented that I was not interested because of the high varnish and paraffin content in the oil. His comment was simply that yes their content was a bit higher than most oils but that he could give me a better price point then who I was using at the time. Naturally I still declined.

I have been a Mechanic for over 40 years working on most anything that moves and the only engines I ever saw full of sludge ran Quaker State. Guess there is a reason why engines run quieter on Quaker state I assume it has to be the high varnish content.

actually during the leadfoot years of the 60's and 70's young male drivers were worse due to the hot rods and muscle cars but a study came out a few years ago indicating that it has reversed and its now the young female population specially in the 25 to 30 range that have become the more dangerous drivers but for some reason the insurance still rapes young male drivers.

Sorry you had rain Abdule but glad you made it home safe. I took the time to stop for breakfast and had a dry drive all the way home to Burlington. Of course I was in my Tundra so it would not have nade a difference either way for me. I also had a great time, though I did miss being on my bike. However the turnout was good and the gathering was great. Always enjoy it when we get together. Next Stop WNY rally. Last but not least a big thanks to Marca, Carl and Don for all their hard work in organizing this event. I would also like to give thanks to Mike and Tammie for their contributions which included a great impromptu Picnic, which I am sure everyone really enjoyed.

It happened to me in the accident I had in 2007. I was cut of by a car who suddenly changed his mind about turning left and swept across the dividing 6 ft wide median into my lane cutting me off which caused me to wipe out. Initially it was deemed that the driver of the car was 100% at fault. While I was in Germany the final police report came in and based on it's findings, the insurance Co. decided to hold each of us 50% responsible. the other guy claimed he was in my lane all along and that I came up behind him and lost control. Despite the fact that this guy had no license (it was suspended) and drove an uninsured Car borrowed from a friend, the officer gave his version more credibility then mine. She did not even show a left hand turn lane in her report nor included the skid and scrape marks on the pavement which clearly backed up my version of what happened. I did up my own version of what happened included a google aerial pic of the intersection indicating vehicle positions and movement prior to during and after the accident. I also indicated were the the skid and scrape marks on the pavement were and pointed out that I had shown these marks to the first officer on the scene and then Later tried to show them to the second officer who refused to go look at it and was the one who wrote up the report, and failed to include any of this in her report. I then sent this in to the police complaint dept. The head officer of the complaint board promptly investigated into it and was able to verify my version of the events and verify that there were collaborating marks . Apparently the officer who took over the investigation was new and this was her first solo report and she had left this fact out of her report. As a result the police dept promptly corrected this error and kindly contacted my insurance co. who has now agreed that the other person is once again 100% at fault. They offered me a $6,600.00 settlement minus $250.00 should I decide to keep my bike. Needless to say I kept my bike and spent the summer of 2008 restoring the bike.

As I mentioned in post http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?137380-Went-for-Angiogram-and-left-with-a-Stent I had a stent inserted. I would like to know from those who have had stents how long before you went back to riding as my doctor recomends that I should wait at least a month and better yet not ride at all this season. To me it sounds a bit overkill so I would really like to hear from those that have been through it.

Unfortunately here in Canada we have this ridicules legal thing that basically disallows you to protect yourself. If you subdue someone entering or attacking you by killing or maiming him even though your life is threatened your charged with excessive force. If you simply subdue or secure the attacker in any way simply to hold him for the law you are charged with unlawful confinement. A buddy of mine was once attacked in his own home by three guys who brought with them a baseball bat for the sole purpose of laying a beating on him. He managed to get hold of the bat and put the run to them. Next thing he knew the police were on the door and he was charged with assault which stayed on his record for seven years, go figure. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a violent person and I certainly for the most do not condone violence except when it comes to defending ones home, family and freedoms against aggressors. So on that note I do agree some laws need to exist to prevent small aggression's from snowballing into larger uncontrollable issues, but who decides where the line of common sense lies?

On another note when it comes to carry I hear a lot about open and concealed and wonder what factors determine why one state vs another state choose to go with one or the other. On one hand I can see where open carry makes it quicker to pull a weapon for self defense but can also make it quicker to pull a weapon unnecessarily in the heat of an argument. It also seems to me that when a state allows concealed carry only, the criminal has no way of knowing who is carrying and who isn't causing him to be less bold where in an open carry state a criminal can simply pick and choose his victim increasing his odds of success. So what is the reasoning behind the different forms of carry?

Hey Puc I fully understand the part about the the right to bear arms. My curiosity revolves around an individual who has a permit to carry and is forced into a situation were he was forced to to use it in a lethal manner to protect himself and/or loved ones and where he would stand in a court of law? Is he charged on the spot? Is it self defense unless proven otherwise? or is it manslaughter until self defense is proven? This is the part that confuses me.

I do believe you when you say you need all the help you can get but not sure if I am qualified.... Shoot I don't even own a white coat or padded room. Now Sarcasm that there is something I may have some qualifications in and would be more than willing to lend a hand. Also hard manual work heck I can be helpful there too. I love hard work, I can stand there and watch you work all day and if you do need some assistance to get things done I believe I still have a lunging whip in my tack box from my horse training days.

Being Canadian and only allowed for the most part to own hunting or sporting rifles, or hand guns for target shooting, which require special permits to transport from one spot to another and not familiar with gun carrying laws such as you have south of the border. I am curious. So now an individual who has a permit to carry is forced into a situation were he was forced to to use it in a lethal manner to protect himself and/or loved ones. Were does he stand in a court of law? Is he charged on the spot? Is it self defense unless proven otherwise? or is it manslaughter until self defense is proven? Not judging just as I admit to having mixed feelings on the subject both for and against, and not because of the firearm itself but rather the complexity and unpredictable nature of human beings in general, but just curious as I stated.
