Lewis, Maybe I missed it but did you ever post the items that would acceptable to bring as gifts? I did see they wanted no stuffed animals. Jerry

I did the very same thing to the front brake on my bike, it didn't grab like yours but it sure did make a grinding noise. Glad you are okay though and like Don I don't take things like that well. Jerry

Don, Algonquin is only about 20 miles or so from Hebron. Our newspaper is the same for both communies. As far as I know there is no drugs or alcohol involved, I think this kid was on their way to school. I feel sorry for everyone involved. Jerry

I have to admit it sounds most unbelievable. Jerry

This has been mentioned above but I too will agree that Handle Bar position is very important. I have found for me that with the back rest I don't have to hang onto the handle bars so hard. What I am saying is I rest against the backrest and just use the bars for steering. I recently removed my backrest just to see if it was that much. I got to tell you, I felt naked, nothing to lay back against and the muscles between my shoulder were pretty sore as well as my lower back. First thing I would try is the backrest but if you buy a custom seat you may want to buy the matching one. Good Luck, Jerry

I see you probably have the information by now. I also notice that they are going to set up a fund or something along those lines. I don't know how much information the Funeral Home has but if you want to wait till later I will try and find out whats going on. Although he only lived a couple of blocks from me I didn't know him very well. I had talked to him a couple of times told him he could ride with me anytime I was riding but we never got the chance. He did tell me he had been off work for some time. Seems he had fallen off a semi trailer while covering a load and had had a lot of back trouble since then. He was also suppose to go to the Work Day at Freebirds with Stardbog but I believe he had to cancel at the last minute due to his back problems. He had a very nice First Gen he was buying parts for to try and get it the best it could be but it was already a very nice looking Blond. Jerry

I just realized that David Idle/ BigTruck here on the forum was killed in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday morning. Not sure where he was headed but a 17 year kid on his way to school pulled out in front of him at a very bad intersection. I wasn't sure it was him until this morning. I will look up the link to the newspaper report later when I get time. Please think of his family, he was only 50 years old. Here is the link: http://www.nwherald.com/articles/2007/10/04/news/local/doc4704ad6a1604c796874025.txt Jerry

I have always been amazed at the difference in gas mileage that people have. I've pretty much always got in the upper 30's with the Ventures I've owned. First and second gens. Some have reported in the mid to upper 40's and I've wondered how they were able to do that. So the bottom line from me is I can't help you but I would be really interested in what the problem is when you get it corrected. Have you thought about hooking the AIS unit back up just for grins? I can't imagine it would have anything to do with the mileage but you never know I guess. Good Luck Jerry

Scott pretty well answered the questions. Is it worth it? the one I have is 300 bucks, it's nice but the one Freebird makes is more reasonable but I really like having one. Took about 15 minutes to install the one I have. I use the lift with mine and I use hockey pucks. Every one I have had is a little hard to use, the bikes are heavy. But like Scott said it's all in the technique. I've seen some pretty small people use them. I really like it for changing the oil and I too store my bike on the centerstand in the winter. A little side note, a friend of mine has a Venture and he would really like to have a centerstand but he's to cheap to buy one so I usually put my bike up on the stand every time we stop when I am with him. Think I would check the air pressure, sounds like they are under inflated. Can't say that I have ever seen the outsides wear first. Sometimes if you ride a highway with a high crown to the center one side will wear more then other places on the tire. Jerry

Air suspension question

Did you pump it up while on the center stand??? I believe it would be different if you pumped it up on the side stand and then checked it on the center stand. Jerry -
Yeah the wind is the worse. Don't think I've been in a wind quite that strong I have been in wind probably in the 40 MPH range in thunderstorms. Pretty sure I have never been "nackered".:cool10: The cutting part I understand. Have fun, Jerry

I haven't received a bad check in a couple of years but it seems it cost me 25 to 30 bucks. I did recover the money from the guy but never did get the bank charges. Hope the person is big enough to cover the check and the bank charges. Jerry

That actually sounds a little to cool at 210. The Harley I had had an oil cooler on it and in cool weather it would cause the engine to run to cold and I would have to run it on choke. I also had a cover for the cooled and that would cause it to be okay. Maybe 210 is okay but I would think the oil would want to be much warmer then that. Jerry

Did you change the basket as well or is that not available? Mine is slipping also, 59K miles. Second clutch I believe. The spring is much heavier then the stock one. I was looking to go to the Barnett, they make some good stuff but I also would like to calm down the chirp if possible so the other option would be to buy the "I" basket from a Yamaha Dealer. Jerry

Very Good, he mentioned he had sold the bike to someone on the forum but didn't say who. Yes his Midnight is a very nice looking bike and he keeps his bikes in great shape. I'm going to email him and see if he will post some pictures. Jerry

Knew they made this color but this is the first one I have ever seen. Jerry

I can't help except to say I think you got a big problem. One of my boys had a 250 Yamaha some or the other and lost the key but there was a number on the switch and he was able to get a key from the Yamaha dealer but it took some time. Don't think you will be so lucky with the Venture though. Good Luck, Jerry

Saw Bud (Circuit Rider) at our swap meet today. As you may recall he sold his RSV and bought a new Goldwing and had a Hannington sidecar put on it. It's an orange bike with the side hack painted to match. It is one Gorgeous bike, very sweet. Wish I had had a camera to take some pictures. Jerry
