Hey Rus, Merry Christmas. Looks like he is down in the Cincinnati, Oh area and I know there are some guys down that way but can't remember who they are. Jerry

I use to store my bikes in a Pole Barn at a farm before I had room to keep them at home and in the springtime they would just be soaked with moisture. Didn't seem to bother much of anything but I sure didn't like it. My 65 BSA would get some corrosion on the cooling fins but they are bare aluminum, mostly just a white powder that wiped off. One wonders what's going on inside the engine though but it should be coated with oil. Jerry

Although Yamaha hasn't made any announcements about the cure for the whine in the Venture Engines after looking around on the Star site I find they do indeed have a fix for the whine...... http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/apparel/apscitemdetail/2/102/all/all/3856/detail.aspx Cheap too. Jerry

I change mine most of the time, even been known to balance them from time to time but I recommend you have them balanced on a machine. I use a 30 gallon barrel to work on. Use a large C clamp to break the bead and a couple of tire tools to get the tire off. I have some thick pieces of Teflon (1/16 to 1/8 inch) to protect the rims. Been doing it for years. But then again I have been accused of being cheap also. Good luck, Jerry

I have had several stators fail on bikes through the years and for me it doesn't seem to be to much load on the system. I have never had a real lot of lights and I don't use the heated clothing. It's one of those things that is prone to failure, maybe once in 100,000 miles. It's not something I would change if it were still working okay. If you have to do it along side the road the biggest issue would be finding a new one, changing it is not an issue. To tell you the truth the battery is way past it's useful life but I wouldn't change it either until it fails. But that's me. At least the battery is available in a lot of places. Jerry

Sure did sound neat though, would be a nice sound effect for the Venture. Jerry

Thanks for the information. This is just a laptop that I use to access the INTERNET while watching TV or sitting around the living room so it has none of my business stuff on it. It does have lots of pictures and some email stuff I wanted to save and I did. Formated the Hard Drive and reinstalled XP, seems like we are good to go now. I just wonder where I got the darn thing to start with. ECK probably sent it to me or may be that white headed Owl? Thanks for all the help, Jerry

I'm sure there are people here that spend a lot of time in Motels than I do, including Freebird. I probably spend 20 to 30 nights a year in Motels but I very rarely stay in one that I think is very clean including bed sheets. I usually stay in the Choice chain of Motels but last year when I was traveling from New Hampshire to Georgia I stayed in a Hotel from Hell. Absolutely the worst I have ever stayed at. If it had not been so late at night I would have kept going. I slept on top the bed with my clothes on. It was so dirty I didn't even want to take a shower there. I wrote to the chain but all that got me was a form letter telling me their Motels were all privately owned and they had limited control over them. Makes you want to buy a tent. Jerry

First of all, ECK go sit in the corner, you made me go back and reread my post thinking I had typed all that garbage you had in your post, gonna cost you bud........ I sure do appreciate all the posts I have received about the mIRC. I want to post a few points about the problem. 1. I didn't download this program and I don't know how it got on this computer, I am the only one that uses this laptop. 2. When you go to the Control Panel there is a line to uninstall mIRC but it won't let you do anything because it says the program is running. 3. You can't stop the program from running no matter what you try to do, some dude from England or somewhere keeps popping up and wants to chat with if you will just register with them. 4. There is no folders in the directory named mIRC or anything close. If do a search for mIRC you will get a couple of hits in the windows/system32 folder but they are just short cuts and it does nothing to delete the program. 5. The more I try to remove the program the worse it has gotten, to the point the computer is almost unusable. At the suggestion of a couple of folks I did a restore back to an August date. Everything seems to be fine now but then I read longtrain59's and now I have this feeling I still have it. I'm going to follow the link to Microsoft to see what that shows. Again thanks for all the suggestions, I know with your help I will get rid of this thing. Jerry

I take it that someone said something in the last few days while I was fighting with my computer. Dang I miss all the good stuff. We should have a section for all the stuff the Moderators have deleted so the rest of us can see what happen, only kidding Don. I have sat down and typed quite a bit about a subject and after I proof read it I decided it wasn't worth posting. Sometimes what I had to say was worthless but other times I could see where someone might take offense from what I said sooooo I just deleted it. If someone really ticks me I would come closer to confronting them face to face. Don, you don't need me to tell you you are doing a fine job so I won't, Happy Holidays, Jerry

Okay I still have the thing and it gets worse as time goes on. No, no virus protection and have had any, this is the first time I have gotten anything that I couldn't get rid of. Those free virus programs are $29.95. Sure they check for the problem but they don't correct anything for free. I also went to the mIRC site and see that it is a chat program but I got to tell you it sure acts like a Trojan. And it seems the more I try to remove components the worse it gets. I have actually had the thing for months. Would show up just every once in a while when I first started the computer up. Kept getting more frequent and if you clicked on the X in the corner you would close all programs running and shut the machine down. When I try to uninstall on the control panel, it says it is running and cannot be removed. I suppose I am going to have to buy a virus program to remove it but I will go to one of the stores, Best Buy or what ever to buy it when I get time. Thanks for the help guys, Jerry

I have a program on my computer that I don't know where it came from and I can't get rid of it. And it's a real pain the A**. It's mIRC, I know what it is but I want it off my computer, gone..... Control panel doesn't work and I've searched all over their web site and can't find out how to get rid of this darn thing. It seems to be taking over the computer. Thanks in advance, Jerry By the way, you don't have to be a geek to give me the right answer. Anyone will do.......

My neighbor took his bike to a dealer in Wisconsin (out of business now) and had it triked. The kit came from somewhere in Texas. I believe he said the rear end was a ford. As for the axles I'm guessing they are custom made. Anyway he seems to know a lot about what parts it was made of. I will question him and see what he knows. I know he has no blueprints though. Jerry

Goose, And that's part of the problem also, these places are betting you won't take the time to cancel and ask for a refund but I'm with you, you lie to me and I won't trust you again and I will pay more for to an honest company. I also have an order story. I ordered a new computer from Dell, free shipping and it was even free if you picked "ground" or "next day" deliveries. I thought " well that is great" and they did ship it free "next day delivery" BUT it took them 3 weeks to ship it. Dummy me. Jerry

My first thought is air pressure but you said slight, hmmm I would still start with the air pressure and then ck and see if you threw a wheel weight. Wheel bearing? Probably not but you can get the front tire off the ground and spin the wheel, you should be able to feel the bearing if it is rough or maybe even hear it. Good Luck, Jerry

Don't know much about the key problem but sounds like you got some good advice anyway. If you are having problems with the Carbs, spraying that stuff down the throat is going to do little if anything to help a dirty Carb. To clean the Carb you can try some seafoam in the fuel but the best way is to take the bowls off and clean the inside of the bowls and any air/fuel ports in the Carb. Don't forget the fuel filter! Nice bike, I always liked that color and it was one I would have liked to have. But when you buy used you have to take what is available. Nice lights and chrome, there are a couple of things missing but not much. Did you know that Yamaha had a Venture line pin stripping set? Very very nice though, Jerry
