  1. Kent, I would like to see some more pictures of the gages you have mounted below the left speaker. I'd like to see the back and also how you have the wires/tubing run. Thanks, Jerry
  2. Brad, It appears the cheaper tires even in the Dunlop line have a lighter load rating then say the more expensive models. Dunlops are almost the same as what you are saying about the Michelin's. The D404 are 74 load rating also and the E3's are 77H which is about 920lbs. So we have to make sure what we are buying that's for sure. Not sure what the V speed rating is but the H is 130 MPH. I'd be interested in finding out what you have on your bike. I would also like to take a look at the tire sometime. Jerry V is 149 MPH, appears the better Michelin is slightly better than the Dunlop E3.
  3. I agree with the statement about the gages. I have checked mine by averaging the tested pressure. Off the top of my head I wouldn't know what to use as a standard. A couple of people have mentioned using a trailer for the excess load but I don't want to pull a trailer for several reasons. Knocks the gas mileage down a lot, 8 to 10 MPG. If the trailer doesn't have brakes then the stopping distance increases by quite a lot and there was a long thread about stopping the RSV recently so adding to that problem is not good. As you can notice the tires have a spot close to my heart. I am quite concerned about them not to the point I worry a lot about them but it is something that need attention. Jerry
  4. I also agree with the thought that the tires rarely blow, I think they are low on air pressure for whatever reason and then they build up heat and bruise the sidewalk, then all the air comes out. Once the pressure is pretty low say 1/2 what it's suppose to be, the rear end gets real squirrelly and then you're in a big world of hurt. You can try keeping the throttle up and staying off the brake but eventually the rear tire will come apart and down you go. I've said this before but I think I would rather have a front tire go down then a rear one. Seems to be more control. I've had both and neither is anything to brag about and can ruin your day. Jerry
  5. I have read in the manual or maybe on the trunk plate about loading and I think you are correct. We are overloading the rear tire by quite a bit. The tires seem to take the abuse for the most part but if you happen to let the pressure get down a little bit then you are in big trouble. I don't think it's a problem of any certain brand because I've heard stories about several different one's. I know some people are riding the bikes with air pressure down a few pounds and thinks it makes the bike ride better, maybeeeee but I keep mine right up to the limit or try to. I don't check the pressure as often as I should but when you are traveling at Interstate speeds you better keep the presure up. I know the pressure will build up a bit but I still keep the pressure up to limit cold. Jerry
  6. How did your picture get on my drivers license??????????????:rotfl: Jerry
  7. Here are some of my pictures of the meet. Total count for the meet and eat was 18. Pretty good turn out for such a cold day, no riders though. Here are a few of my pictures. Dan did a heck of a job, always fun with Dan around. Jerry
  8. OOOOOOOOh yeah, if you ride, you going to dump it sometime or the other. I usually try to do it with a lot of people watching me and heck if you do it in front of a bunch of bikers they will usually run over and pick the thing up for you. Don't ask me how I know all this........... Jerry
  9. Everybody gets the same answer, must be why we all belong to this site.:clap2: You are a Road Captain You live in the wind. You could be at home watching far off destinations on TV but you prefer to discover your own. You cross state lines like most people cross the street. When stuff happens people look to you for answers. You are a wiz with duct tape and bailing wire. Riding is not just a diversion but a way of life. I really like the part I red highlighted. Jerry

    Speakers

I would have to agree, I have installed the Pioneers in a couple of bikes and they are only slightly better than the stock speakers. I also bought one of the small Amp and it is totally junk, I wouldn't call it an Amp, might qualify as a resister or impedance. I believe the people using the Equalizers are having better luck with those then what I did. Be interested to hear what you end up with and how you like it. Jerry
  11. 4 5 and 6 looks good. Jerry
  12. Very interesting, my 01 doesn't have one but then it's red not black. Jerry
  13. I received mine on Dec 25, my wife kept them as a Christmas present for me. They are really nice, like they said "Better then the picture". Good job Don, you came through again as usual. Jerry

    Medication Error!

I have been on Meds (Eck leave this alone) for quite some time and I get real excitable when the color changes or the labeling on the pill changes. I take one of these and two of those a day but I have been known to take two of these and one of those. My Doctor thinks it's funny. I always check the number in the bottle which is quite interesting also. I'm suppose to get 60 pills and it has varied from 56 to 68 through the years, don't they have to account for the pills? Hope your friend is okay. Jerry

    A Tribute

Don, Don't we have rules about writing that mushy stuff on this site? Talk about PG sheeze........ I have been married over 40 years and I could say the same things, sometimes I don't know how she puts up with me. Congratulations on the Anniversary and God Bless you Eileen for putting up with our Don. Have fun in the north woods. Jerry
  17. Also, I was the third buyer of my 01, the orignal owner, HD dealer, another owner and then me. I had a shock replaced and two of the wind deflectors replaced before the warranty ran out. You should be fine. Jerry
  18. Like the guys above I bought my RSV in Dec and it was the following march before I got it into the dealer. Here comes the kicker part and will start another long thread. I had to pay $25.00 to have mine inspected, some say you don't have to pay anything I just paid the 25 because I didn't want any trouble with my dealer on something questionable later. Jerry
  19. That's what I was thinking also, just a good frost, heck just scrap it off and go riding.:rotfl::rotfl: You know what they say about Texans though. We're suppose to get a heavy frost today, about 6 inches worth. Jerry

    Jackets

Yeah, me too but I think the snowmobile is a warmer machine then the motorcycle. At least the older ones were, cira 1980's. I also find the snowmobile suit to be a bit slick on the vinyl seat. I don't ride below 40 deg F and that's not very often. Jerry
  21. I hate the things, have them on a car we have and the things turn so dark that on a multi lane highway I can't tell if the guy is in my lane or in a lane beside me. Hard to make lane changes because of the darkness. Jerry
  22. I have mine done every five years whether I need it done or not. LOL SleephawksMechanic did mine a couple of years ago so I'm half way to another one. Jerry
  23. Close to 40 deg last night with about .3 of an inch of rain, currently 1:30 pm and 13 deg on the thermometer with heavy wind. Remember Midnight rider talking about 60 deg weather and going riding a couple of days ago? They have blowing and drifting snow today. Jerry
  24. Good Luck, Jerry
