  1. You really don't need to be concerned about all the people legally carrying in the USA, you need to be concerned with the illegal ones. Do the bad guys not have guns in AUSTRALIA? And if there are no guns down there why do the Leo's have to carry. I too am not trying to get a heated discussion going, just making a couple of observations. Jerry:big-grin-emoticon:
  2. We all can agree about the stock mufflers, buy some RK's and run a 1 3/8 hole saw straight through all the baffles. Still not to loud. Jerry
  3. Yes they are the same, Jerry
  4. I too am going to do a clutch before riding season. I can hardly pass a car on a two lane highway because of clutch slip. I am going to use the spring kit in mine if it don't already have it. I will have to take the cover off and look at it before I order parts. I have heard and I believe the stock disc's from Yamaha are as good as any. I don't think I will add any more disc's then it calls for but that is a good thing to do if you only want to sort of repair the clutch. 86er, What do you mean extra spring? Maybe you put the extra disc in ? Jerry
  5. I agree you have the antenna pointed much to low. I think you need to call the satellite company and have them make a service call to adjust it. Jerry
  6. You buy them to use on the bike? Jerry
  7. Very nice looking stuff and pricey. Guess it just depends on what you think your body is worth. Unfortunately I am like you Don I'm not to smart about what I wear. I know what I should wear but I mostly chose jeans and real stupid things like nylon jackets that would take a Doctor weeks to pick out of your burnt skin if you went down. Of course there are jeans made of Kevlar and they are somewhat reasonable in price. I have even laid some skin down on the highway a couple of times and still not smart enough to wear protective clothing. That must have something to do with teaching old dogs .....ect.. Jerry
  8. You can buy about any size square stock you want, just have to go to the right place. I would be more inclined to modify the receiver so that it fit a standard insert. Wonder what the previous owner was using? Jerry
  9. Congratulations on the new home, I'm sure you will spend many happy years there. Good for you, Jerry
  10. I tend to think the new parts will not fix the problem but it's worth a try I suppose. I don't know how many miles you have on your bike but it takes a real lot to cause problems with the needle grove. The needle fit's pretty tight in the tube so for it to hit the seat at a different angle is pretty unlikely. I would give the bowl and jet area a very good cleaning and try it again. Also be sure the tube is clean of all varnish and the sides of the needle are clean. Good Luck, Jerry
  11. I don't recall the gap, you will have to look in the manual. Some change the plugs without taking the tank off but it's not a big deal to remove the tank and it sure makes things easier. Good Luck, Jerry
  12. That's a sleek looking piece of equipment. This Compaq I'm typing on has been all over the country, been dropped a couple times, rides around in the trunk of the RSV. Has some doors missing and has some scrapes and scratches but it still works fine. Battery even still works and I've about got use to the new 6.2 DOS operating system.:rotfl: Jerry'
  13. I too have had back problems for many years probably 45. Like most of you guys I have abused myself through the years and I pay for it and have been paying for it quite some time. I also use to dirt bike a lot, can't do that anymore. Rode a 1st gen for years and finally got to the point I could only ride it about 100 miles at a time (50 with pain). Bought the 01 and it fits fine, hardly any back pain when I'm riding and I do some 800 mile days. Anyway I also live on pain meds but not all the time. Unlike the other guy there I can't hang or go to a Chiropractor, I am worse when I leave the office then when I go in, he had to help me to my truck one time so I could come home. L1 and L2 are fused in my back. The other comment I would like to make is my wife has never had any back problems until the last year or so and I think she now looks at me in another prospective. For people that don't have back pain, they have no idea....... Good Luck, Jerry
  14. Your bike sure looks grey/silver to me? Of course I am a little color blind. Jerry
  15. Few years ago my friend and I were riding up the interstate about 75 MPH when all of a sudden my bike went dead, first thing I did was pump the gas a few times, I don't know why just seemed like the thing to do, and then I noticed the kill switch was off. Turned it back on, huge backfire, friend bought fell off his bike. I was riding a 86 VR when this happen. When I was a younger rider we use to turn each other's kill switches off just for fun so that's usually one of the first things I check when the bike won't start. It's really a bummer when you are kick starting the bike. Jerry
  16. Pretty sure they have Royale emblems also. Jerry
  17. I usually do my own, ask Stardbog, he just happen to be here one day when I took the rear tire off the rim, balanced it and put it back on. No special equipment, you just need someplace to hold the rim down. I've been doing this for years on and off. Don't like to take it to the dealer because I have to come back and get it. Sometimes I change the tire and let a HD mechanic I know balance it. Search the web, there's all kinds of information on the net. Jerry
  18. Little update. Still haven't been able to get over the houses, there are several train cars derailed and one of the has some sort of chemical leaking so the town is still evacuated. Have talked to the relatives and it seems the houses are probably waterproof. Guess that's what you have insurance for. Jerry
  19. Did you check the plug to see if it's firing? I know of at least one incident where the coil on one of the cylinders went. Yeah sea foam.. Jerry
  20. Yeah, Rick we are fine. I have two nieces that live side by side and one hit their houses. Not to bad though I don't think but it happen just at sundown last evening and I haven't had a chance to go over to their homes yet but I don't think it is to bad. Did destroy a house about 1/2 a block away and also derailed a couple of train cars as well as the engine. One of the cars had some kind of chemical in it so they evacuated the whole town, pop about 200, so I don't know if they will let me in there this morning or not. Need to make sure their houses are waterproof. Oh yeah the important part they are fine, no injuries at all. Jerry
  21. If it has been running fine and you didn't change anything don't go turning screws. Use some Sea Foam in it, it takes several doses sometimes to get the carbs cleaned out. Sounds like they have some garbage in the jets. Plugs sound like a good idea also. Jerry
  22. Cassette cover is still available from Yamaha I think. Use to be able to get them from BikeBandit. I think I have one of the caps for the reserve water bottle, I will look. Jerry
  23. Wear bars? How far down can you wear the tires before the wear bar shows? Jerry
  24. More fun without the shoot. I can hit the target wither out the shoot. Jerry
  25. The E3 Dunlop front tire is about 760 lbs at 130. Jerry
