I'll say one thing for you Chuck you don't give up easily. Good luck and I'm looking forward to some more of that chicken while Darrin is putting the bike back together:stirthepot::rotfl: Have fun. Jerry

Oh Yeah, F1 fan here, never been to a race in person but will get around to it sometime. Have always be a big open wheel race fan. Was raised in Indiana and attended many 500 miles races through the years. Several at over tracks as well. Kind of gave up on the Indy Cars until they seem to get back together and quit fighting. Don't have a pick for F1 this weekend, think it really depends on the qualifying at that track. But for Indy Car, can you say Danica/Andretta/Green? Don't forget the old stock cars, I'll take Kyle/18 anytime. Love the way that guy drives. One of the things I want to do in the future is see a Super Bike race and they do come to Road America which is pretty close by. Jerry

Interesting thread although I doubt it's helping fixing his problem with the antenna. Someone through in a new term to me NGP antenna, can I presume that's a dipole type antenna? I know some of the Cell Phones use dipole's and I'm pretty sure the antenna's used for boating must be dipoles? Unless the water is being used for the ground plane? Sorry about stealing the thread, Jerry

Keep looking and you will find someone with a better deal than that. Sometimes it takes a while. You keep going back to that dealer and he knows he's got you on the hook.. I don't like car salesmen and they don't like me. I would never spend that much time in a dealership either. Good Luck, Jerry

Heck you have to check everything. I bought a NEW truck a few years ago, larger truck that could scale about 30,000 pounds. One of the documents I received when I took possession was a paper that showed all the things that the dealer had checked before delivery. On the way home the truck overheated, LOW on cooling water/anti-frieze. Just can't trust them 15 year old wash kids....... Jerry

I hardly ever take my key out around home, have one of those Star Parts keys, hell my dealer couldn't even find where to start the bike. Figures right? If I am out and staying in motels I usually lock the handlebars with the switch. The cover is a nice thing, keeps the young kids from playing with the bike (10 year olds) I do have one of the cable locks with a round key to unlock it but have never used it. Appears to be just be added weight for traction. Jerry

It usually drips right off the bottom of the shock mount. Should also show a spot on the floor, not a real big one. Most of the time if you have too much in the crank case it oils up the intake to the carbs. And yes the rear shock still will hold air but you get a real bouncy ride. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22544 Jerry

It can be checked any place between the radio and the antenna. Best is right at the radio but easiest is under the seat I'm thinking. Jerry

This hard to do without looking at the way you have it hooked up. I will try and answer some of your questions hoping maybe this will help you. Not sure I helped you much but chasing RF problems can be a real challenge sometimes. I know you mentioned a couple of different things that you have in your circuit, only use components recommended by the antenna manufacture. These would all be matched parts. Jerry

John, So glad things are going in a positive direction. Hang in there just a few more smaller battles to go. Good Luck, Jerry

Don, I haven't really noticed the site being slow because either the internet or my ISP causes it to be a little slower from time to time. I just tried to turn on the sidebar and I can't get it to come on. Jerry

Sorry to hear about the tire, I don't worry about the tires being matched and right now I have a E II on the Front and E III on the rear, of course both are Dunlop. But even different brands should be okay. One thing I would add is that different brands have different spec's for supposedly the same size tire. But I don't think it is a problem as long as you follow the "Owls" advice. Jerry

You forget to take your meds again? Jerry

Yeah I still try to answer a post if no one answers it within a few hours. Even if I don't know what they are talking about LOL. Now adays with all the members I don't have to answer many with one of my stupid answers. There seems to be someone around that knows all the answers. ----and I mean that in a nice way--- Jerry

Here is my stand on the plugs/patches/plug patches. I would do it myself and watch the air pressure very closely until I wear the tire out. But I never, never recommend that someone else do it. I think if I recommended someone else run a tire with the patches and they had a problem, that would be hard to live with. I think it's something you have to decide. By the way I have had very good luck with plugs through the years. Jerry

Harley brake/tail light question
BOO replied to BigD's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
HD or some after market plain ones are available. Besides measuring the size be careful of what you buy, they make them to fit that size but with the screws on the side of the light. I believe you want the ones with the screws on the top. NO NO NO I'm wrong, you want the ones with the screws on the sides, NOT the top..... I have a set of the top screw ones I would sell cheap... I talked to the guys over there at PCW racing and did it exactly the way they said to do it in the instructions. One thing I want to clear up here is I had no problem with where the clutch engaged but I had 2 points that it did that. When I would let the clutch out a little the bike would start to move so you kind of hold that point until you are ready to go and then let the clutch out and twist the throttle and go, ONLY it wouldn't move at that point, just the engine revved and you had to let the clutch out about another 3/4 inch before it would take off and go. Felt like a newbie revving up the engine and not going anywhere. What I now think might have been the problem, I should have put in new master and slave cylinder kits. There might be a spot that the lever is hanging up a little. To lazy to do that though. I'm happy with it now so I am going to ride it until it gives me more grief. I don't know if I mentioned this before but the fiber disc's are within tolerance and the steel ones look fine so I didn't change those. Jerry

Sounds like our server is more of the problem than our site. If it had an attack that is one thing but I can't imagine you (Don) had so many emails in the middle of the night to cause a problem. I would think a few corrections to the site, that you have already taken should correct anything our site is doing to the server for the time being. I see right a way there are probably only 1/2 the amount of members logged on this morning and I would credit that to the time out function Don just put into effect. I know some people leave their computers on all the time and stay logged into sites, I'm not sure how much pressure that puts on the server but it must be some. I know some of the local ISP's charge extra for that sort of thing. I would hate to see it go to a pay site but if that is what has to happen then so be it. Jerry
