RIVCO Center Stand Question ???
BOO replied to Sterling Turner's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've been to the Rivco place several times. The owner and the guys there are great. They should take care of your problems. Jerry -
Frank, I lost a GPS last year on the way to Georgia that was mounted on the suction cup, got ran over by a semi also. I bought a new one and drilled a hole through the windshield, not going to fall off now. Did a little mod to the suction cup, have 1/4 inch stainless bolt through the mount and windshield. Put a stainless fender washer on the outside of the windshield with a rubber washer under it. Works great. Jerry

OWL and ECK, You guys are definitely on my list, like it or not. I'll let you guess what kind of list. I thought the same thing you guys did when I saw this "friend" thing. I have been ignoring anyone that sends me a request but I'm still waiting for the first one.:rotfl: Jerry

Yeah pretty much I guess except some of the F1 guys are pretty good in the rain, usually not the same ones that are good on the dry. Interesting without the traction control. The kid from England is pretty good in any case. Jerry

Report on Another Successful Clutch Spring Upgrade
BOO replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just did my clutch and I bought the kit. Ended up taking the full disc out and just using the spring. I think the half disc just makes you take off a little softer, not so grabby. I doubt you would save much money just buying the spring as you should buy the gasket also. Most places sell the disc for 7 or 8 bucks. Won't hurt to rough up the other disc's while your in there. Like Goose my disc were well within tolerance and I have 61,000 on my bike. Jerry -
What Contest!!!!

Goose, We have the same problem in our area. Dan (Stardbog) tries to have them but we have little participation. Hell he even talked a local dealer out of several hundred dollars worth of coupons as well as shirts, hats etc. We do have some so I don't want to make lite of them showing up, they are great people but with a give away like that we should have half of Illinois show up. The other side of the coin is I meet with 5 other bikers every Saturday Morning and another group on Sunday morning. Happens about 52 weeks out of the year. I've wanted to get down to St. Louis with Bill and them guys but haven't made it so far, one of these days. Jerry

Sure looked like there was enough room for both of them if he hadn't let the car get away from him when he lit up the tires. You almost got to call it a racing incident. I don't think anyone that's a winner is going to back down, you see it time after time. It's just not in their nature. Unlike the Sprint Cup stock cars, the open wheel racers seem to race every minute of every lap. Jerry

It's on as far as I know. I'm planning on going and I have an airline ticket for my wife that can't be sold back so I would say I'm going no matter what. Jerry

I don't remember how many times I've been there but probably 6 to 10 times and several days for qualifications. Not a real viewing track, not many seats let you see the whole track and most that due let you see the track, you can't really see the racing. Best you can hope for is center main straight or 4th and 2nd turns get sort of interesting. The experience is another story, at one time you could camp in the infield the night before and have a heck of a time. Poker games, working girls, you name it. I think they seat maybe 250 to 300,000 people so it's interesting. There are a lot of tracks around the country that are better for just viewing the race. You should go to Speedway, it's a blast. I had the 404's just before the E3 and they are a bit soft compared to the E3's. I really like the E3 but at the time they had no tire for the front so I put an EII on the front. By the way I got fairly good mileage on the 404's, can't remember exactly how much but I will check my log when I get a chance and let you know. Think it was near 15K though. Jerry

Mostly around $4.09 here but the next town over was $4.29. I bought some because I know it's better gas then the cheaper stuff. 35 gal tank in the Dodge, Jerry

Bill, Congrats on the new bike, hope you like it. They are great bikes. Jerry
-
Yeah, I did indeed see that and understand what you went through and your noise was probably much worse than what I described but I was making a point that you can get that type of noise out of very low tires and I suspect your tire being low contributed a lot to the separation. By the way I am a Dunlop fan and until they really do me wrong that's what I ride on. I too put the E3 on the bike, great tire, little hard and I have over 20,000 miles on a rear as we speak and will probaly get another 5,000 on it. Again you are a lucky man, Jerry
-
Don, I also have to agree. A person should do that kind of first thing when buying a bike be new or used. Then you should not have to worry about it for some time. But the fact is, it's a pain in the you know what with the RSV's and most people don't do anything until they need major repair. With all that being said, I use the short cut method also AND I leave mine looser than most people and that's probably even harder on the bearings. Jerry
-
Sometimes if the tire is just low it will sound like that. One year when I took my bike out of storage while riding it home it started making a noise like that. 28lbs of air. Don't know why it went down over the winter but it did. I think you were very lucky though that it didn't blow. Jerry

How involved are MC inspections in your State?
BOO replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Watering Hole
No inspections in Illinois either but when I first got my Insurance with Giecko I had to take the bike to the local Kmart to have it inspected. The guy actually had a form with a list of things to check, didn't cost me anything just a little time. But since you brought this up I have ***** about Illinois. To get an operators license for a motorcycle you have to me a trick rider on a trails bike to pass. All of the bike shops have a loaner or a rental 250 cc so you can pass the test if you have no license and buying a touring bike. What a joke, you couldn't pass that stupid test unless you were some kind of trick rider. I know I know someone is going to jump in here and say he has passed it on a Venture or some other big bike. Even the local Harley dealer has a little Honda to loan to the guys buying the HD's. I've been riding for most of my life and I don't think I could pass the current test. Thanks for letting me vent this really hits a sore spot with me. Jerry -
I don't know but that lemon pie was pretty good the last time even with the Millers LOL Jerry

Don't take this wrong Lewis, I use to be a big Nascar fan, heck they would have had to put off my funeral for a couple of hours if a Cup race was going on. But I got to tell you now about all they do is cruise around in circles for 550 miles then flip a coin to see who will be leading at the end. Ain't quite that bad but all most, Jerry
