Well my wife is now home from work and she said in this county the small claims limit is now $15,000.00. ---just shows what I know--- But just because you get a judgment against someone you still have to return to court to try and make them pay up. She also said besides going after checking, savings etc you can also go after homes with a lien and the persons wages of course. But I got to assume this painter is probably an independent business man (I use the term loosely) so the wage thing would be tougher to get. Of course it could be some dude that owns nothing, no money and no full time employment. At any rate, good Luck Moose and I hope things work out for you. Jerry

Good luck in court. I would imagine this thing is going to go on for a while. A little note about the DNA. There was a murder case here that had went on for two years and I notice in the paper the other day that they arrested a young man for the murder because they had just got the DNA test results. Don't mean to make you guys feels any worse about this than you do but that sure was a long time for test results I'm thinking. The police said that the Lab was back logged. Good Luck, Jerry

That's not exactly how it works in Illinois. Although he can go to court for the small claim, after he wins that he has to go back and make the guy show his assets and maybe the Judge will let him go after them. More than likely the guy can ask for a payment plan and if the Judge goes along he could be paying it back at 5 bucks a month or so. Real pain, been there several times. Better to try and get something out of him before going to court if possible. Jerry I think we are up to something around $2,500.00 here in Illinois, I remember my wife saying something about it the other day but of course I was not paying attention as usual. Jerry

If you have the EBC parts in the bike I would just run the thing the way it is. The OEM clutch is probably as good as any. I don't think any one clutch is that better than the next. I just put the heavy Vmax spring in my bike and it works fine but is a little stronger to pull. If I had it to do over I probably would use the OEM. Of course that bolt is a problem with these bikes and need to have some locktite put on it. Good Luck, Jerry

I've never hit a tire but I ride quite a few miles a year so I'm assuming it's just a matter of time before I do. I also have seen a recap come off a semi and I remember thinking if I were in the right place it would probably take my head off. I don't like the semi's either but you must pass them from time to time. I have hit several things on the highway, none of which caused me to go down but a few times I think I sucked the seat right up in my throat. When I was taking my wife to the airport after the Asheville meet I narrowly missed a big piece of exhaust pipe off a semi, I was following the car in front of me to close and didn't see it till it was too late but I barely touched it. I don't know how many lives this cat has left but I'm thinking it's not many. Jerry

Jeff, Thanks for the information. We read so many things on the forum about miracle cures for different things I was just trying to clear up some things in my mind. Sounds like you have it cured. Good Luck, Jerry

I find the older I get the slower I go. I do enjoy seeing what is around me and I'm not looking to get there (where ever there is) faster than anyone else. My wife just started riding a few years ago and the last thing I want to do is scare her. Like they said you have to ride your own ride and be happy about it. Find a group that rides the way you want to ride and have fun. Jerry

Okay now I have a couple of questions.
-
I'm not big on anything that has to do with maintenance. I don't wash the bike until I can't remember what the color is but I do occasionally clean the windshield. So as you might guess I don't do much for winter time storage, sometimes I take the key out but one winter I lost the key before spring. All kidding aside (am I kidding?) all I do is fill the tank with fuel and keep a charger on the battery. Some Seafoam is also nice. Jerry

Well I ain't gonna say it myself but a guy I ride with from time to time has a bike just like mine, color and everything and he just loves the Bridgestones. Especially with white walls. Now I didn't say he was smart, I'm just saying he likes the Bridgestones. Good Luck with the search Margaret. Jerry

I like the looks of the bike a lot. Very nice bike. Belt drive is not a problem, more HP to the wheel, nothing to grease, quiet. The faring is a bit different but it sort of looks like the first farings Kaw had when they first came out. I also like the idea of the faring being frame mounted, more protection from the elements. I'm not in the market for a new bike but if I were this bike would sure be in the running. Just my opinion, Jerry

I usually use the NGK plugs but I think the ones in the bike now are Champion. I can't seem to tell much difference in them but the guy I ride with quite a lot is an auto mechanic and for some reason he don't care much for the Champion plugs. He also don't like the fram filters but I get good results with them. Just my opinion. Jerry

I agree with that. All you have to do is call the local County Emergency Management group and they will call and have it cleaned up at the cost of the owner, that would get his attention. Jerry

The dealer in Woodstock usually has one on the floor. I think he probably sells 2 or 3 a year, maybe more, just a guess on my part. Jerry -

Testing a Stator
BOO replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah I think you could use an ohm meter to check the resistance. Usually when the stator is bad you will have an open open coil. (burnt spot on the wiring.) Take a look at this web site, it might be a little help for you. http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/ Jerry- 1 reply

Agree with mm482, usually have the antifreeze in the oil but it's possible to have it the other way. Maybe head gasket or bite my tongue it could be a cracked head. It sure is a bummer when you buy something used and it turns out to have a bunch of problems. Good Luck, Jerry

Just as I suspected, no changes except for color. They are not going to change anything until they are forced to. My guess is this is the final year for the RSV. I do have to say I like the Silver/Black or whatever it is. The other color looks very close to my 01. 12 more months of trying to guess what Yamaha is up to and I bet the 09 still has the whine.
