Well like a couple of people have said, "There ain't much on this menu I haven't eaten". My wife and I lived to north Africa for two years and we made it point to eat with the local people as much as possible. Lot of things I couldn't identify and probably some I might not wanted to know about. I grew up in a family when they butchered a pig, we ate everything except the squeal. No parts of any animal was wasted. I too order liver and onions when out because my wife won't cook it for me. And oh yeah, cow's tongue, nothing better cold with lots of mayonnaise. Nice thread, Jerry

And about every other thing in your life. I remember the same thing going on about Japan back in the 50's. Think their labor cost got so high now that some other country had to take over production (China). Who's next? I've tried for years to buy just american made tools for my work but you just can't do it. Jerry

We must have the record for having the most Governors imprisoned of any state in the union. Wonderful Thing, Jerry

I too have my lights on a relay but I choose to switch them independently with a switch on the back of the faring. My lights are set rather high so I usually toggle them on and off after dark so as to not blind oncoming traffic. Problem was I found myself fumbling for the switch. What I did was tie my lights into the emergency switch on the right handle bar. No kill switch anymore but the switch for the running/passing lights is right at my finger tips. Jerry

I seen some film on the news about the ride, looked for Dan but didn't see him. They were more interested in the guys with Santa suits etc. Great ride for a great purpose but way to cold for me and of course there was still some slick spots around. Jerry

Randy, Just what I was wanting to hear. That was one of the best meets I've been to. Riding was great, no pressure to do anything in particular and no pressure to raise money for anything. Just riding and a lot of BS. Love it. Set the date and we will try and be there. Jerry

You guys are weird!!!!! Actually I use to frequent a bar that had a coffin up on a table and every once in a while some clown would climb in and lie down. In 1976 I had a new Ranchero and built a small tool box for the bed and it sort of looked like a coffin, I was kidded so much about it I finally took it out and burned it. Jerry

YAMAHA VENTURE BROCHURE Wanted
BOO replied to woz111's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I think I have a brochure around here somewhere for the 1300 Venture Royale. Can't remember the year. Hundred bucks their getting????? I might just sell it if I can find it. Jerry -
Yeah I had a set of the Kurkyakyn on the 89 I had and sold. I probably can did up some pictures also. (Maybe) I didn't see where they helped so much but at the time I was wearing a pair of boots with a pretty good sized heel on them. I actually felt more comfortable without them, it felt more like a stirrup that way. My pegs were also the 3 inch offset ones. There are several guys on here that use them and I think Freebird has a set on his bike? Jerry

I was thinking more about this today and talking to a fellow biker and the more I think about it I think it's BS! Like said before I have changed several tires on the big bikes and you just aren't going to put that tire on without some tools......Not on the Venture at least.... I would also like to see the guy take a tire off with a hack saw...... Jerry
-
Rick, Yeah I got the address and you should be receiving "just a little something" in the mail any day now. Think I sent it a couple of weeks ago. Jerry
-
Having changed several tires on different bikes in my life I just can't quite believe this one. I'm not sure what the straps are doing except clamping the bead together, it certainly is not making the diameter of the tire bigger. I would have to see this one in person to believe it knowing how hard the Venture tires are to change. Jerry

I would stand up for Rick anytime. He bought a bike from me with a Certified Check and a few years later he sent me a check to buy a trailer for him. I also helped transfer a trailer from Georgia to Minnesota for him. He's an upstanding guy and his word is good. Having said that, one has to make his on deals in his own ways. Rick, what the heck you gonna do with all them bikes? Just can't stay away from the blue ones can you. Good luck, Jerry

Good article. Good advice is practice, practice, practice. In my opinion the best advice in the article, The Soldering Iron You don't need one of those expensive professional soldering workstations you see advertised in electronics parts catalogs, but you should have a decent iron, ideally with a variable temperature feature. I've used the Xtronic 16-30 Watt iron for years and am more than happy with it. I paid under US$30 for it. A hot iron is a happy iron. You want to get in and out of there (to the solder/component/soldering pad) as quickly as possible so as to weld the component to the pad without baking the component's little brains. Discrete components are designed to take the heat, but you don't want to push your luck (and a scorched PCB is *so* not cool-looking). So you want an iron that can be as hot as it needs to be to melt the solder, but no hotter. You'll probably also want some tips of different sizes, especially really small tips if you're going to be doing a lot of work on tightly "populated" circuit boards. I'm sure some electronic guys will jump in and tell you to use low wattage gun on those circuit boards. 100 watts is not low wattage....15 watts or less. Jerry

Good to hear another person came out of another accident with just a few injuries. Just shows what a little protection will do. Its been a long time since I've been down on a bike but it seems to me when you are sliding on the pavement the speed picks up and the end is a long ways down the road. And then sometimes you get to make a decision, if you get high sided whether you want to go for height or distance. Good luck and heal fast, Jerry

Does that mean you are not listening to Willie anymore? OR Maybe you have listened to to much Willie....................... I will never change my name.... (and I have been told to never say never) BOO

Anyone Know the size of this bolt?
BOO replied to Tom's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You're suppose to check something before riding? I have a hard enough time just finding the ignition key.......... BOO -
More Motor?

I agree with the guys, stuck float or flooded float. I've never had much luck in just tapping on them but you never know what might happen. I've never thought of running pure seafoam into them either but that sounds like something that could work. I had to take mine apart and clean them to get it corrected, didn't really find anything but there could have been something stuck in the needle seat. Good Luck, Jerry

I've found through the years that the Yamaha dealer is about a good a place as any for the fiber disc and about the same price. I actually have never heard any bad things about any companies disc. Good Luck, Jerry
