Damn that's cheap and that's one of the nicest colors Yamaha has made. Someone got to buy it at that price. Good luck and sorry you have to sell the ride. Don't you have a wife or some kids or something like that you could sell instead? Jerry

Had to board a few ferries in my life. Most of the time it's not one of the things I want to do. Probably been 10-15 years ago I was up in the Door County area of Wisconsin and was going to ride the fairy to Washington Island. Lake level was pretty low and they would not let you ride your bike on. One of the deck hands had to do it. Short story is I didn't go. I figured if someone dumped the bike it was going to be me. Maybe 5 years ago I was in the same area but this time you loaded your own bike. Seems they had to pay for to much damage through the years. It was still a bad deal the concrete ramp was steep and the ramp up the ferry was steep but I made it. One of the worse places I've been on the bike was Savanna, GA. I decided to ride down the cobble stone ramp to the river front. Bad error in judgment. The stones were slick and I had a heck of a time stopping the bike before going into the river. Actually about 3/4 of the way down I had made up my mind after going into the water the first thing I needed to do was get rid of the leather jacket. Heck I stopped with 2 or 3 feet to spare. Jerry

I didn't know you could use two springs. Seems like it would be too much? I know there is a stronger spring that makes the pull a lot stronger and makes the disc's grab better. Jerry -
This thread has been run before several years ago but it's always interesting and if it gives just one person a reason or the will power to quit it turns out to be a great thread. I tried to quit hundreds of times. Finally in 1980 after smoking for almost 20 years I was able to smoke my last cigarette. No health problems, just something I thought I should do. I quit cold turkey. I do have a new habit though. I am a Carpenter and since I quit smoking I carry a carpenter pencil around in my mouth like a cigarette so the ends are all chewed up. Jerry

Hadn't looked at this thread before, seen the title but it really didn't register. I really can't remember the first few but there was about 30 or 40 in in the beginning. A few false starts with some different software and I remember voting on the name. If you don't like the name you could throw some blame at me as I voted for it. I was number 8 when the site took off but of course the big crash changed all that. Of course the numbers don't mean much. The site turned out to be a great site under Don's and the moderators supervision. Jerry

What? Where am I? How did I get here?

Not sure what's going on with your bike. All our gas in this area is also 10% ethanol and I don't put my bike away the way I should which means all I do is turn the key off and park the bike for the winter and when I get ready to ride it in the spring I start it up and drive off. Most of the time this is when I put the Sea Foam in. One year I had a float stick open so I had to take the carbs apart and clean them. Probably what you are going to have to do. There is a good article in the Tech about this. I really doubt your problem is covered by warranty. Good Luck, Jerry

WHERE WAS I?????? Where the heck were you, I was there two days last year and I don't remember seeing your mug there anywhere..... Don't worry about the wind, just twist the throttle a little more and slice right through it. Jerry

Welllllll, it don't look to good for us coming down that weekend. Jane's boss is giving her some grief about taking off that Thursday/Friday. Wants to wait a few weeks to make a decision but by then we might loose some other dates and then be up a creek. Bummer, Jerry

I'm sure our group will be going down again. Haven't missed it for 5 or 6 years. We usually run down on Sat morning and spend the night and come back on Sun. Jerry

Jane has to turn her vacation time in tomorrow. We have the book home now and it looks as if that weekend might be a problem. The person that has to go into the courtroom when she is away is getting married and will be gone July 6 through 10. Only good thing is not much goes on in the courtrooms on Friday's. We will know for sure tomorrow evening. Not the end of the world if we don't make it. Jerry

I really like the July dates more than the May date, it may get a bit chilly in NC in May but it gets damn chilly some days or nights here in Illinois. My wife has to turn her vacation dates in on Monday so if you could make a decision this weekend that would be great. Most important is a date that works for the most people or the people doing all the work. Jerry

Middle of July looks pretty clear also. Week of July 15th and July 22 seem to be open and couple weeks away from other events. I can probably work it out in the April/May thing also. Jerry

I'm pretty sure that B-29 also crashed. I heard when he was doing his stunt when the pilot supposedly bailed out one of the wings folded and it is now trash. There sure is some nice RC's around the country, lots of money though. Jerry

I have taken long trips for years and can't say I've ever had a bad experience. Each trip has it's own set of issues I might say. Some of my ideas about long distance riding, I really don't like to plan the trip as to where I have to be and when. If I do plan the trip I always put a day or so extra between stops so I'm not rushed. I don't force myself to ride say 500 miles a day. If I ride 80 miles today and 700 tomorrow I do that because it feels like the right thing to do. I have NEVER taken a long trip with more than one other person and to be honest I would rather ride solo. (refer to 80 mile days and 500 mile days) The guys have a lot of good ideas above but I don't carry much more in tools than came with the bike. If I have a flat I'm going to call someone, if the engine quits I'm calling someone. I don't carry a tire repair kit in my cars and I don't carry them on the bike. Pack the bike so you don't have to unpack the whole bike every night. Most things are common sense kind of things, just have a good time and enjoy yourself. Jerry

Well during hot extended rides I end up soaked on the bottom side but it's not related to engine heat so the shields would not work for me. Mine happens as a result of the vinyl seat and my big a$$ so I have put the sheep skin on the saddle and it works fine. Good Luck, Jerry

I didn't know it had fallen that low, last I saw it was $40.06. It must have fallen on Friday. That's really bad news for people looking for a job the way the economy is. I wouldn't blame the Arab's to much for high pricing of gas, you need to look a little closer to home for that problem. I also heard the other day one of the refineries rep saying that if gas prices get any lower they would be closing down some refineries. Watch was that does to gas prices. I'm afraid the economy is going to get much worse before it gets better, Jerry

Make sure the gas cap is tight, I don't know about the sputtering but it will cause the check engine light to come on. Don't ask me how I know... I wouldn't waste my time going back to the gas station, they are just going to deny it anyway and it will just get your blood pressure going. A friend of mine just rented a Chevy Impala for something under $200.00 a week with no mileage charge. I can try and find out where he rented it if you want. Good Luck, Jerry
