These are the two Aircraft carriers I was on in 1965- 1966. The Randolph cvs15 was old in the 60's and the Forrestal cva59 was fairly new at the time. Couple of interesting facts about the Forrestal. In the early 60's they landed a C130 cargo plane on the deck and later got it back in the air. By the was this is not a normal plane for an aircraft carrier, wingspan over 130 feet but they missed the bridge. I had just been transfered off the Forrestal when it headed for Vietnam (whew that was close) and while over there launching A3's etc they had a missile explode on the flight deck and caused a lot of damage not to mention several guys were killed. Anyway here's some pics. BOO By the way the first pic is the Randolph cvs15---Sub chaser The second pic is the Forrestal cva59--Attack Carrier. The Randolph also picked up Gus Grism 1961 and John Glenn 1962

Oh yeah all the sea stories, there is a million of them. I also spent 5 years in the Navy as a Radioman. All you have to do is let a couple of guys sit around with nothing to do and they will fine a way to get into trouble. I never was involved in any of the pranks but I seen plenty. I was on two different Aircraft Carriers--Randolph CVS 15 and Forrestal Cva 59--- guys spent endless hours looking for "Sea Bats" Seems they mostly live in the exhaust of jet planes..... I think I could have stayed forever also but I didn't.... I'm still in contact with several guys I served with. Although I was only an RM2 I was friends with my Senior Chief and we have been fried every since 1969. Just got an email from him a couple of days ago. BOO

Front and rear tire pressure
BOO replied to Chiro's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I run 40 +- front and rear in the Dunlops. Have for years, seems to be fine. Good luck with the new tires. BOO -
21 Could have got a couple more if I had read the dang question. The rest were really wild guess. I hate test day. BOO

Interesting comments about the 1st and 2nd gen bikes. My wife actually liked the seating on the 1st gen bike better than the 01. Not me though. Go figure. BOO

Good story, I've rented Harley's a few times while on vacation without a bike. And they are a nice ride, especially the new ones. I would probably have a HD if I wasn't so darn addicted to these Ventures. It's hard to find much wrong with the HD. The heat of course and it seems like a smaller bike than the Venture, at least the handling sure is different. Friend of mine flies to Knoxville, Tn then rents a new goldwing for the week and runs back and forth on the Dragon. At least I think that's all he does because that's all I hear about. LOL BOO

I must have missed this the first time. Your grips look great with the weights added. Nice work. But I love my throttle boss also. All these dang choices in life....... BOO

I may not be the best one to answer this question either. I bought my bike used and it had the grips on it. I do not like the smaller stock grips so these work great for me. I also have the throttle boss on both grips. Mine have began to pit from the sweat, I presume so one of these days I will have to replace them. One thing I have wondered about is the effect of the weights on the vibration but I don't seems to have any sooooo..... BOO

I sure would like to come back down there again. If the date works I will definitely be there. My kind of meet. Talk about cool riding, I do believe Skid was riding in the mountains in shorts when the temps were in the forty's...... BOO

I find it interesting sometimes to "Google Earth" an address just to see what comes up. Your address on Pebble Beach Blvd turns out to be a residence in Vegas. Can't tell exactly which house it is but like I said, it's interesting. Typically what you see for ebay sellers, just a computer in someones house. BOO

Seems there is no way of loosing points with the gals, you just have to try to keep making more than you loose. I'm more of a Willie guy but that would make no points and probably loose several. Good going Gary, BOO

I bet I messed around with my seat bracket for a couple of years. Actually made a bracket for it and that seemed to work fine for a while maybe even a year and then it started to bother me again. My issue was it was hitting me to high in the back. So I went back to the original bracket but put it together in a different configuration. Seems to be perfect now, we'll see. The combination of backrest, seat shape and firmness of the foam in the seat seem to make a lot of difference. BOO

I have one of the cheaper Garmins because I am cheap and I don't usually buy things that function as two or three different tools. Maybe it's because the garmin I have is cheap but it sure "recalculates" slow and the detail is much less than a real cheap unit I've had for several years. I like the larger screen but that's about it. .02 BOO

I'd say 4 or 5 miles is pretty darn good for the CB's now of days. There is so much garbage on the air you're lucky to get that far. And AM mode for communicating is a terrible mode so as you can see everything is against you. The CB's are good for a group ride to keep everyone informed and together but that's about it. BOO

Someone set it up and I'll try and be there. I'm not much help but I sure got a lot of opinions...... BOO

Just take it to your local dealer and you should have no problem with the warranty. I bought my bike in Tennessee and live in Illinois. I did register it but it was 3 months or more after the fact and there was no problem. They did gig me for $25 to do it but I understand they are not suppose to even charge for changing the registration. BOO

I'm thinking some people just age better than others...... BOO

Oh, Oh, well, I see, Motorcycles....humm.... Yeah well I have ridden motorcycles longer than most of you been alive and a lot of them were real junkers, oil leaks, gas leaks and grinding gears and bearings. I figure I am sitting on top a 100HP more or less engine with a five speed tyranny, drive shaft and rear end. Seems like it should make some noise. I wear a helmet so I don't hear it to much so I just ignore it and enjoy the ride.... BOO

Got mine when I was about 21 years old and had it every since. It's tends to get worse at times but usually not to loud and I am able to deal with it. I don't turn the volume of the radio up because that seems to make it louder. I've never tried the "I" basket but candy and flowers seem to make it less bothersome. BOO

I have a couple of GPS. I have a MIO 220 which I really like, the screen is a bit small but these things are now in the 80 to 90 dollar range. I also have a Garmin nuvi 255, screen is much bigger but there are some things that are not as convenient as the MIO. Neither is waterproof, like Craig I just put a baggy over it and a rubber band. I forgot I also have a couple of older Garmin Street pilots which are pretty neat in their own way but the new stuff is much better. The Garmin 255 has picture display but no blue tooth or MP3. The MIO 220 has nothing but the gps but you can hack into them and change a lot of things for custom viewing. Whatever you get don't rely on it to much or you will get into trouble. Make sure you have it attached to the bike securely, I lost one of the MIO's couple of years ago on the super slab. Good Luck, BOO

Scary movie.... It always seems to be less scary for me to just ride but then again maybe I'm not traveling as fast as they are. Got to love that V4, great sounding engine. Beautiful views. BOO

I also noticed the dates also, sort of funny. I would like to go to that show sometime but we spend the month of February in Florida so I'm not usually around during that time. I may have to just stay up north one of these years just to go to the show. NOT! BOO
