I put my 1/2 disc back in after about 2 weeks as I didn't like the feel of the clutch. I left the new spring in. It's been about a year now and the clutch is slipping again. I am going to reinstall the full disc to see if that stops the slipping. I wish now I had put the Barnett (Sp) clutch spring in instead. I probably should have just bought a new set of disc and spring from Yamaha and been good for about 65,000 miles. Ain't hind sight wonderful...... BOO

Maybe the threads are already screwed up (crossed threaded) and that's why you can't get the screw out. I really like the allen heads because they are so easy to get out. Maybe you had the wrong size wrench, maybe sae instead of metric. I know I know this isn't helping to get the screw out. If you can't get the screw out with the easy outs then you probably will need to drill and re tap the hole. Sometimes you are better off and faster to just go that route once it obvious the screw ain't coming out. Also a little heat helps sometimes but don't burn the chrome. BOO

I know I'm asking for trouble here but I just couldn't resist. You want to give "Minisoda" another shot there Squid? I should talk, I am the world's worst at spelling. BOO

I see the helmet on the rear of the bike. Maybe that's how he got that way. Definately different but neat. BOO

We really love Savanna, lots to see around there. Don't know about the riding, as I recall bike riding is not all that great there. The River front is neat and like Mini said be careful down in that area on the bike. I went down one of the ramps while I was there and thought I was going swimming bike and all but I didn't. Tybee Island is a neat ride. There's an old fort there also. And best of all is the food. Great Seafood and lots of restaurants. Have fun. BOO

Rivco is a great company. If you are close enough to drive over there they will install while you wait at no charge. I hope they are still doing that anyway... BOO

Most of the time I change my own tires and I use a C clamp and it works fine. Also I've found if you have a old steel 30 gal barrel it makes a good platform to work on. May not be a 30 gal but you get the idea. Really helps to have a second set of hands when you are taking the tire off the rim and putting it back on. I have even balanced my own tires but I've found a guy that has a machine that will do it for cheap. Good luck and have some bandaids close by....... BOO

Like what has been said, "don't go for cheap". I've had several helmets through the years and most were a little pricey. I wore a full face Bell for years, really liked it especially when I was riding bikes with no windshields. My most favorite probably is the Shoei 3/4 helmet, I wore that thing until it began to rattle around on my head--or was my head rattling around--- Last two helmets have been 3/4 Arai, really like the Arai also but it took a little to break in. I think the bottom line is to find one you are comfortable in and fits "your" head good. BOO

At least it's within reach! BOO

To change back you are going to need the pegs, shifter and probably linkage and a brake pedal. And maybe the brake linkage. I can't really remember but I did the same as you are doing several years ago. I believe thats all you will need. BOO

I have never had any clothing or anything get wet in the trunk and I have been in some pretty serious rain. I did have some loose "Tums" rolling around in the trunk that got under the mat and sure enough during a rain event I had a white substance leaking out the drain hole and falling all over the tops of the bags. What a mess in the trunk but still nothing got wet inside the truck so the channels in the bottom much be channeling water from somewhere to the drains. BOO

I'm glad I'm not coming to maintenance day, I knew there was a reason. Actually I thought that conserving tp like that was a bike military secret that was only taught in survival school. Now that the secret is out the tp manufactures will all be going out of business. Crappy thread....... BOO

That's probably why no one uses them. OLD SCHOOL.... Go figure... BOO

Well got the bike back together. Had the parts on Wednesday but had that silly deadline with the tax man. Apparently everything is working just fine. I hope I never have to do that again. Only comment I will make other then it was a pain in the you know what is, there was a lot of black stuff in the reservoir as well as some water. Quite a bit of water on the top side of the rubber gasket. By the way someone mentioned that the system was not a closed system but it appears to me that it is. The rubber gasket on the reservoir is sort of a bellows so it is able to collapse into the reservoir when there is a leak or when you are bleeding the system. Maybe. BOO

BOO replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the pictures. I pretty much knew what they looked like as I have seen the same parts from other bikes but never any of the ventures. Very interesting, BOO -
Not sure that counts ifn no one saw you............ BOO

Hey Bud what you say about me or else I won't let you sync my carbs when I see you... There's not much fluid in the system to start with but if you flush it gone it will all come out... Boy oh boy, tough family..... Don't be telling no secrets...... I don't think it ever gets that hot. But yeah the water causes corrosion for sure... I don't think it leaves the system on it's own but I agree I don't think the slave would ever get that hot. BOO The bottom line on my problem is there was probably water in the system and it caused rust on some of the metal parts within the slave cylinder. Then the rust was rubbed off the steel and was floating around in the slave, scratching the heck out of the rubber seals causing it to leak out the bottom of the bike. Hope that makes sense. BOO

Of course this should have been in the Second Gen Tech talk but applies to all. Feel free to move it. BOO
