I also have pictures, I just was waiting for a thread to be started but I don't have them down loaded yet. Mike I was thinking I would get it to someone to take to the PIP meet coming up over Labor day but maybe I could get it to you and you could get it to someone in time to get it up to PIP. Problem is I found out today I have to work Saturday and maybe Sunday so I'm not sure how soon I could get to you. Any idea's? I have pictures of the "Welcome to the state of ******" sign for TN, KY, IL, WI. It did come through Indiana but the state line is the Ohio River coming up I65 and no place for me to pull over and take a picture. BOO

Recently when I went to Asheville, NC on the way down I got about 42 to 43 MPG at about 65 MPH actual. Riding around the mountains I was getting 45 to 47 MPG. Coming home I was riding at 75 to 80 MPH actual and the MPG dropped to 36 to 38 on average. I am saying actual because that is what the GPS was reading, my speedo is about 8 percent inaccurate. BOO

I didn't stay for the tasting of the fruit of the vine and I might say some people didn't get up real early the next morning. The thing I did notice in the pictures them shorts Arthur had on..... WOW.... :stirthepot: BOO

Plan on coming down, we'll work it out somehow. I said 8 or 9 but more likely be 10 or 1030 and even if we know you're coming we figure out something so we can meet up along the way or something. Hell we may just sit around and tell lies all day. You never know. BOO

Bummer Dan. Sounds like you need a few Heinnies to get you back in shape. Sorry to hear you are not going to make it but I do understand. Bummer, BOO

In the past there haven't been anything really planned in advance so not sure what is going on or it's panned at the last minute. I would come on down and plan on being there somewhat early in case we do take off to parts unknown. 8 to 9 am should be early enough. I will have the computer with so as soon as something is planned I could post it so you know what we are up to- - - - if anything. BOO

I have owned an 84, 86, 89 and a 01. I really think the 84 was the fastest but they were all faster than the 01. But I love the 01, much more comfortable. BOO

I'll be at the Super 8 in Black Mountain by noon/mid afternoon on Thursday and there's a chance I may be there by Wednesday. Stardbog will be there sometime before me. My Phone number is in my profile. If you go over to the KOA just go in the front entrance, cross the bridge and keep left, you should see the bikes. See you there. Looking forward to riding in that area again. Great stuff. BOO

Sooooooooo, my question is "what kind of gas mileage do you get pulling the trailer"? Thanks, BOO
-
We've talked about this several times and my thoughts on this subject are, "If you can ride the bike and not worry about the plug in the tire then do it" I have no problem with plugging a tire, I wouldn't probably do it in the side wall but I don't consider any part the bike is riding on the side wall. But it's really an individual thing. The thing I don't understand "Randya" is where in the heck do you guys find all these nails? The Venture is a "touring" bike....... BOO

I have never hauled a bike around to much but I don't think it would bother me to haul the bike on the trailer your friend offered. Would have to make sure the bearings were good and well greased. BOO

Hah! Guess what I found?? Couple more pictures. BOO -
Couple of Pics of tires I have taken off the RSV. I'm pretty much a die hard Dunlap fan. The first tire is a 404, run past it time but there were no threads showing. The second is of two E3's, I would have ran this tire several more thousand miles but I was going on a several thousand mile trip and didn't want to have changed on the road. I have another picture I want to share but I can't find it at the moment. BOO

I am no expert either but I have bought a few tires during the last 40 or 50 years. Very rarely do you see a tire worn that has cord showing all the way around. Usually it's just in one spot but the rest of the tire will be well worn. Almost looks like your tire had some lumps in a few spots around the tire that wore down long before other areas. BOO

I see you have a string tied around your finger, did you forget something? Another Smart A$$ of course. I've been working in wood most of my adult life and cut many parts of my body, even nailed three fingers together a couple of years back but I gotta say, THAT'S NASTY. BOO -
Rick, Nice seeing you guys again. Very nice for you to stop and chat with us for a while on your way home. I did come home and look at the Radar and it sure didn't look good on your route. Where did you stay for the night? I'm sure you know it but your children are well mannered and extremely pleasant to be around. Hope to see you again in the near future. BOO

I also have the Rivco stand. Think it's great. Never had it scrape. Actually the mufflers scrape from time to time but I don't think the center stand has. BOO

That is indeed strange. I have never seen one of these bikes crack like that. I have put mine in some real good stress a couple of times and nothing like that happen. Not sure about the fix but it looks as if you can find something to weld it together you won't be able to notice it to much. Good luck and I'm sure you will get some other ideas here as time goes on. PCW Clutch upgrade question
BOO replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Actually on the one I did the friction point was the same with or without the half plate. Not sure why most of the people seem to have the friction as it was with the standard clutch but there are some that have it way out. As I stated in another thread mine started slipping again after about 10K miles so I completely replaced my clutch with OEM parts. The original clutch lasted for about 65K so hopefully the new will also. BOO
