That sounds great. I've pretty much had good luck while traveling and most places are very helpful. The other side is I've sit along the road for two hours and when the tow company got there they had a hook and not a flat bed. Duh.... Sounds like a good dealer you ran into. BOO

Don't think you are going to find anything in that price range in the Keys. We've stayed there for years and most of the dumps are around $150.00..... Don't know about the camping thing but the camp ground in Key West is around $100 a night I heard. This could be the off season but I doubt that anything close to Thanksgiving would be considered off season... It's really nice down there though.. Good Luck, BOO

Sunny and 67 in Chicago today. I call that BEAUTIFUL!!!! BOO

I've seen a couple of rocket launches from across the state but never one up close. Maybe this is the one I should go over closer and watch. I will be in Florida at any rate. BOO

Yep guess it's about time to put the shorts and sandals away for the winter. BOO

Doesn't everyone get to vote more than once? The trick here in Illinois is to figure out who to vote for Govenor/Inmate. It looks like a high turnout here in Illinois today. BOO

Do what you want with it. It would make a great piece to hang up on the wall. Whether it was a flag flying over the Twin Towers in New York where 2 or 3 thousand died or Viet Nam where over 50,000 perished I think it does not matter. Display it Proudly and with Respect. BOO

1984 Venture but is it a Royale
BOO replied to snow4brains's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I also owned a 84 but it was a standard. It did have all the radio's and all the things the Royale had except it had an after market Electronic Cruise Control that by the way worked much better then the stock ones do. I'm thinking if the badge on the trunk doesn't say "Royale" then it is a standard. Seems most will agree that the second gear goes bad between 25,000 and 50,000 miles. Mine had 92,000 on it when I sold it and the second gear had not been touched as far as I know. I bought the bike with less than 6,000 miles. They are great bikes. Good Luck, BOO -
Are you happy with only five gears? How bad are the vibes?
BOO replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
I always felt like the First Gens had a sweet spot about 65MPH indicated, just seems any vibration it might have settles down and every thing feels real smooth. The Second Gen seems to feel better at about 70-75 MPH and I find that I ride at that speed quite a lot. Maybe it's not vibrations but instead speeds I feel comfortable at? Don't know but I can fall asleep running down the highway. BOO -
Red Cross is pretty much the fastest way. BOO

Keep up the good work. It is really tough but if you don't give you'll be fine. I've been smoke free since Jan 1980. Probably quit 500 times before it really took. Cold Turkey for me. When I finally quit, a friend of mine offered to make me a bet that I couldn't stop smoking and the bet was $500.00. I was so sure I could not quit that I did not bet him and sure enough that was the time I was able to quit. He rubs it in every once in a while. Good Luck, BOO

Great, we will be in Florida from sometime the middle of Jan to March. this year we are also going on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale in Feb, 11 nights, Oranjestad, Aruba/ Cartagena, Colombia/ Colon, Panama/ Puerta Limon, Costa Rica/ Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Leaves the 14th of Feb. I don't really care that much about the cruises but got to keep the boss happy. At least it will be warm, BOO

Yeah me too. Number 6 in the beginning and a few of us helped decide the name and software used. Actually the first group here got a personal invitation. Ain't that special..... Never thought the site would turn out to be what it is today. Don has worked hard and it has turned out great. BOO

Sounds like fun though, BOO

While the voltage will drop some with the running lights on I'm thinking yours is dropping way to far. Not sure just how much voltage drop you will get with the running lights on. I'm thinking not more then 4 to 6 tenths, half a volt. Almost sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere or one that is corroded. If this just started after the dealer installed the lights then I could assume he did something to cause your problem. It sounds like the charging system is doing it job but when you try to draw some extra current then something breaks down. I would start with making sure the connections to the battery are clean and making good connection. Another good thing to check is the connector from the stator, these seem to cause problems. BOO
-
Well maybe the connection got a little better after it was running again. For some odd reason the postive lead on my RSV will loosen up from time to time. But back to the question. Voltage at the battery without the engine running should be about 12.6 volts plus or minus a tenth or so. 13.8 volts with the engine running 2 grand or so.... or at least above idle.... BOO

Now there's something I can agree with....:rasberry: BOO

Still think you should find something else to do on your day off.....

I really prefer the "pan drippings gravy" especially when there is "lard" involved. Other than that I like the "white gravy". Drown the sucker, Drown the sucker. No butter. BOO When I read the first post that was my exact thought. Gonna be a long winter season on this forum. BOO

That sounds like some of the conversations we have around my house. My wife will change the subject in the middle of a sentence...... Says I'm not listening.. Not sure what would make her think that. AND I don't think it's a conversation.... think more than one person gets to talk if it's a conversation. BOO

I've run the 404's and I don't think they are such a bad tire but they do wear quite a bit faster then some others. I believe they start life with a little less tread then some other tires. A guy I ride with has had the 404 WW's put on his bike every time he's had to have tires. Think he's got about 85,000 on the bike. BOO

What they are talking about is if the fluid is old and dirty looking through the site glass the if you change the fluid it might help with the friction point. Not only air would change the friction point but I believe water in the fluid would cause it to change. Worth a try. BOO

No Headlights or tail-lights
BOO replied to krp41151's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Definitely is a fuse and as I recall the fuse is under the cover just under the seat. My running/passing lights were also on the headlight fuse and the fuse blew a couple of times. I changed the the passing lights over to a relay and it cured the problem but I know there have been some issues with the wiring on the passing lights. Had my fuse blow one night, bang no headlights......exciting..... Good luck, BOO -
Well I for one am impressed. Looks good. What you did sounds like something I would do but usually the results are not as good. I'm amazed that 80 dollar sewing machine was able to do such a good job. Looks great though, BOO
