I don't know about Yamaha but J C Whitney still had some after market stuff in 2003 or so. I can't remember just what pieces were a available but BikeBandit had some stuff up until about 2 or 3 years ago. But I would have to agree I would not be happy to buy a new bike and find out there was no chrome available from the factory. BOO

Since this is not a common problem to both lamps I would check all the terminals/connections from the relay to the lamp. I don't recall how the lamps are connected to the wiring but I believe they are screwed to the lamp, if not then I would check the plug real good as well as any other plugs you have on the wires AND any terminal connections. (read crimp on types) Good Luck, BOO

I don't have a map displayed on my signature but I have ridden to all the ones I claim except Hawaii where I rented a bike and Morocco in North Africa where I had a Lambretta scooter (does that count?) Does to me. I've hardly been west of the Mississippi but I intend to take care of some more states this summer. BOO

Replacing Sparkplug Wires
BOO replied to Color01's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You are so proud of your work that you double post. Good Job.:rotfl: Little hint though, if you do it right the first time then it only takes half the time to finish the job. Don't even ask me how I know that!!! I actually have some better than that but I wouldn't dare tell them. BOO -
The gadget hooked to both terminals looks to be a Capacitor in shrink wrap. Would probably be for some kind of noise control. I have no idea about the blue wire but it probably hooked up an accessory that the PO might have installed. Been a while since I've had a first gen so I don't remember but I know that Cap was not original equipment. BOO

Looks like the Steelers are about to make a game of it. BOO

Just when you thought you had heard everything then someone comes up with something like that. Good One.:rotfl::rotfl: First time I had heard that one. BOO

One of the guys mentioned not to put the whole gallon of oil in. This is pretty important, the manual says 4 quarts but the bike only will need about 3 and 1/2 quarts. Site glass on the right side of the engine, half way between the marks while holding the bike straight up should be fine. Good Luck, BOO

I agree that the dealers are to high in price but if they are not a big volume dealer they just don't seem to make it. The other side is the place with the jacket at 40% off is still higher then what you bought it on the web. It seems the web is taking over the sales on accessories so in a few years you won't be able to look at anything in person, have to buy it by picture or see it being used by someone else. I got to tell you also I know the local dealer, where he lives and something about him and his family. He is not living in a multi million dollars home and driving $500,000 cars. He's been around for some 40 years. I'm not bad mouthing you guys for buying on the web I'm just making a few comments. I also buy most of what I need on the web. BOO

Yep soldering is the best That was the biggest problem with the 6 volt systems on the old BSA's and Triumph's etc. 6 volt system and then have a little voltage drop across the mechanical connections, next thing you know you're dead along the road. Some of the connectors are pretty good though especially if you squeeze a little dielectric on it. BOO

Here is my "wish" Ravens ----------Steelers Steelers -----------------------Patriots Jets ----------Patriots Patriots -------------------------------Bears Packers ----------Falcons Falcons ------------------------Bears Sea Hawks ----------Bears Bears But I have a feeling the Super Bowl will be Patriots and the Packers.. Had to bite my tongue to say that. Good Bears, BOO

I have bought several items from China and it usually takes a couple of weeks but a few times it's been up to four weeks. Good Luck, BOO

I loaded a Honda dual use bike 350 cc into a Uhaul one time. That wood floor is slick and I ended up hitting the bulkhead of the truck pretty hard. No damage but definitely had the heart rate up. I love watching people load Snowmobiles and especially Boats. I could spend an afternoon watching the Boaters trying to get their boats on or off their trailer. BOO

Front Brake Master Cylinder
BOO replied to BigBear's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
How can you possibly talk about 78 degs and riding when I'm talking about 8 degs. Now that just plain sucks. We'll be heading down that way in a week or two. We stay in the Fort Myers area but I expect to be in Melbourne for a couple of days visiting friends sometime February. No bike though so that also sucks. Enjoy the winter if 78 degs is winter, BOO -
Front Brake Master Cylinder

Just a little side note here. Last summer I had some issues with the rear brake. I took it apart to see what was happening, turned out the housing was pitted so I had to replace the whole master cylinder. It wasn't sticking it was leaking. BOO Another note that has nothing to do with this thread. I have the Temperature in my signature and at this moment it says it's 19 deg F when it's actually 8 deg F.... I know I know, more information then you really needed........ BOO -
Front Brake Master Cylinder
BOO replied to BigBear's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine has been sticky every since I've owned it. I use the front brake a lot and about every time I have to stop so things get a little hairy at times and makes be look like a dork. ((no comments from the peanut gallery)) My bike is not under warranty so I would be interested in the fix so I could fix mine. May take it apart this winter sometime to see what's going on. BOO
