Let me know when you are going to do this, I might ride over and at least watch. I should probably do this one day, I have 81K miles on the bike and I don't know if it has ever been checked but it runs so good I hate to mess with it. BOO

2001 RSV Windshield
BOO replied to johnbroughman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I think our windshields have an outer layer of film covering the plastic and therefore the scratches cannot be buffed out. And some of the chemical cleaners will turn the film yellow. I also know of a couple of instances were someone used a high pressure washer and actually blew the film off the windshield. Be easy with the windshield and do not use the sponge washers at the gas stations, they have all kinds of bugs and small stones stuck in them. BOO -
Victory Vision (If you think the RSV Clutch Basket whine is annoying....)
BOO replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
That was the best laugh I've had in a long time. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That's a funny gal.:banana::banana: BOO -
What's with the clutch?
BOO replied to darthandy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah that's how it starts, just order the stronger spring and you will be good to go. BOO -
Another wives tale, you do not "speed up" when you lay a bike down, you slow down slower. BOO

George, I don't believe I have got less than 40 MPG since I adjusted the floats last summer. I haven't run any 2 or 3,000 mile trips this year but I have done a couple of 400 mile one way trips on the interstate and I rarely run less than 70 to 75 actual. Running around locally I get 43 to 45 very consistently. All the local gas in 10% ethanol but I don't think I lose more than about 1 or 2 MPG. Mostly one up and no wagon. BOO

Hummm the Tech says it's the Tank overflow? Why because it smells of gas? Hummmm. I go with the guys here, first thought would be the oil level. Just because you never noticed it before I would still check the oil level, this bike is pretty touch about the oil level. And it could have been the carb overflow as well for many reasons. BOO

Looks like things were getting a little strange..... BOO

Well I'll put in my 2 cents. I don't care for the classifieds the way they are now. Much to much clutter on the page. I think there is to much "stuff" here the way it is with all the "stickies" etc going on on the page. But of course I can always work around whatever is here. BOO

How about the rear swing arm (is that what its called?) Anyway it's the frame part that lets the rear wheel move up and down over bumps. If this bushing is worn the bike feels like it is a snake going down the highway and the 89 should have a zerk fitting on it. May not be what you are feeling but this happen on a 86 I had years ago. Good Luck, BOO

Yeah ECK and I opened mine 4 or 5 years ago in Eureka Springs with a broom handle. Ruined the broom handle but got the bag open. One of my boots was jammed into the locking mechanism and won't allow the latch to trip. Maybe ECK still have the broom handle. Good Luck and be Gentle, BOO

The first Eureka Springs was a great time and a lot of people. Should we forget the Canadian sliding down the highway? BOO

Fuel cock and shifting ?'s
BOO replied to Venture Rob's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I never turn the fuel cock off except if I am trailering it. Trailered once in the five years I have owned it. I leave the fuel cock in the "on" or "run" position (whatever it says) and don't turn it to "reserve" until the engine starts to die. Just the habit I have got into. On most of the bikes I've owned I have left the fuel cock on "reserve". BOO -
I mostly get 43-44 MPG so I easily go to 200 miles on a tank. NOW if I run over 75 MPH the miles per gallon go way down. I also mostly run on reserve. I have seen some claims of up to 50 MPG but I can't say I have ever ridden with anyone that got that kind of gas mileage. If you can't make it to 200 miles running 40 MPH you need some adjustments. Brake Pad Question Which Side is Which?
BOO replied to etcswjoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I bet they are from two different sets of brake pads. Probably one side wore down on a set and he saved the good one. (Twice). Interesting, BOO -
I usually buy from SW Moto but I just bought a new front E3 from Jake Wilson. Old habits are hard to break, can't get away from the Dunlops. As long as they keep getting me home I'll keep buying them. Did about 900 miles last weekend on a slick 491 and never gave it a thought. (Well maybe a little while I was riding in the rain) 75 MPH and 42+ MPG. BOO

There was a guy close by that I had ridden with a few times and he built one for a Harley he had. I have no information about how he did it and his wife divorced him shortly after but I have seen her ride it and it seemed fine. Good luck BOO
