Oil leak and smoking???
vzuden replied to Wesley G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Over full with oil, as this appears to be, will accumulate in the air intakes under the tank. When the bike is on the side stand the oil will drip out on the left rear corner, down the side of the carb, and continue down the side of the engine and exhaust. Need to pull the intake plastic pieces and clean. Not sure if that is the case here but with oil level that far overfilled it is likely. -
Sat in one this past weekend in a dealer showroom and it's not for me. Feels like a car and seems to take up about as much room as a car. I have a two seat convertible already with a heater and top if I need them.

This is about the pump with a check valve instead of using the MR Gasket pump. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/second-generation-venture-tech-talk/80318-fuel-pump.html?highlight=FUEL+PUMP you can always just replace the points too
-
Sounds exactly how mine did when it failed. If not under warranty check this site for posts about replacing the points and save some money

I have used Cabon Ones bracket and wire harness and highly recommend them. The harness comes with the required relay

And... The body side moldings are straight front to rear while the '56 takes a curve downward. I have a '55 Belair 2 dr hardtop. And a '25, '34, and a couple of '62's but that's a whole nuther story

I have a little firsthand experience with traveling state to state and different laws. In the state of Wisconsin license plates are not required for small, non commercial trailers. However Illinois requires the license plates regardless of where you are from. My son with a Wisconsin registered truck towing a trailer with no license plates hit a deer soon after crossing the state line of illinois. State police showed up and his truck was drivable but he couldn't continue because he was threatened with the trailer and the two motorcycles in it being impounded. After phone calls to his uncle, owner of the trailer, and me, in Illinois and owner of the bikes, he was allowed to proceed with a warning. We think the officer was just being a jerk to a 25 year old.

Does your replacement fuel pump have a check valve to prevent fuel from draining through it? If not one will need to remember to turn off the petcock at the tank to prevent hydrostatic lock and potential serious engine damage

Question: does coolant steam off when it is exposed / not under pressure? Am I seeing the radiator "burning off" the spilled fluid? Coolant will leave a film that will give off steam as it dries. It helps to hose off the area of a spill with clean water and then blow off most of the water with an air hose. May still have a little steam but it doesn't last long

Filled my truck yesterday at $2.48/gal. in central Illinois.Wished it had been closer to empty.

No they do not. It is removable but easily reinstalled if sitting in the seat. In fact, it is a bit of trick to,install when off the bike. There is a bracket attached to the rear fender to receive the tail of the backrest. Since it is rather deep down between the back of the rider's seat and the front of the pillion seat it is little hard to find. Doable just not in a couple of seconds. I ended up just leaving it in place all the time.

Anyone remember the Auranthetic bikes called CHARGERS ?

Enjoying your write up. Any chance you could work around the decal leaving it there? Mask it carefully, sand, paint the color, unmask, and clear coat over everything? -
I used the white connector under the seat by tinning two wires with solder and jamming them into the empty connector. Plugged that connector into the one connected to the bike and it has held for a few thousand miles. I used this to feed ignition on power to my passing lamp relay

I mow every week with a '48 Farmall C with a 60" Woods belly mower. Woods mower is early '60's. Runs great and no breakdowns.

I have a late '90's model Wheel Horse (bought new) and it has been a great little garden tractor. Primarily mow with it but have a snow blade and rototiller I bought with it. Only problems with it have been related to the location of the battery. It is under the hood and right behind the dash so the electrical connections require lots of maintenance. I have to replace the fuse panel due to the fuses corroding, getting hot, and melting the plastic. After I became aware of it I now stay ahead of the issue. Great and rugged little tractor.
