  1. For anyone wanting to get away from the boom mic or any mic, you could switch to the Uclear brand communicators. Bought a set this winter and just installed and it works great. The mic pickups are built into the speakers
  2. With Slowroll's extender it does drop the bar down and out so there is no need to touch the bar's mounting bolts when splitting the fairing. Had mine off a few times and it is very clear of it. I did have to add a longer rubber bumper to each my lower deflectors so they are contacting the fork. I've read on here that if you don't the supporting metal will fatigue and they will break off. I replaced one of the plexiglass attaching bolts with a longer (stainless) bolt and glued a rubber bumper from the hardware store to the end.
  3. I use only Plexus
  4. Here's a link to several options and sources for aftermarket pumps. The aircraft style you asked about is listed here and it, unlike the Mr Gasket, has the check valve. I used the Mr a Gasket because it was in stock at a local auto parts store and the other wasn't. Plus I always turn off my fuel when turn off the bike so hydro lock wasn't a concern http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?38549-Parts-Alternatives
  5. I used Mr Gasket on my last bike for 30,000+ miles with no problems. Would probably try replacing the points first, now if I had one quit
  6. I guy in our office rides a 2013 and he does not have the safety switch. I caught him taking off from one of our fuel stops last year with it down. Not sure of the model but it is one of the touring models
  7. Here's a good place to study up on helmets. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm
  8. Congrats Mike! Here's to 25 more!
  9. if that doesn't work you may have to try some Sea Foam
  10. if your '97 is the same as the 2005 and newer RSTD you could use Baron Nasty Boyz 4-2-4. I had them on my '07 and they were loud. There is a removable baffle that you can unpack or vary the amount of packing.
  11. I've had a couple swing arms off. I can't see why the fender would interfere

It's been over 20 years but when I was there they had tours through the auto baron's homes. Dodge Brothers, Henry Ford, another Ford, and Fischer (of Fischer Bodies) are the ones I recall. Pretty cool
  13. 2012? Should be under warranty??
  14. By no means to defend the dealer but I turn off the fuel every time I shut off the bike, without exception. Just a habit I have had on every bike I've owned since I had a hydro lock on one
  15. were you westbound on the belt line through Madison around 2:30 this afternoon? I was eastbound and saw a red RSTD with a trailer heading west
  16. Pull off the left passenger foot board and the plastic cover behind it. The starter solenoid and fuse are located there. Even if that's not your problem it would be a good idea to clean the connections and coat with dielectric grease. Highly likely to have corrosion due to location
  17. I installed the same Custom Dynamics LED that was in my 2007 into my 2012. I wouldn't think your 2013 would be any different
  18. http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/oemcatalogs/productsearch/star_accessories These are the Yamaha deflectors. Just put them on my bike
  19. 2007 did for sure and I think they still had them through 2010
  20. Cruiser, what model year are they from?
  21. Adding RK mufflers to mine now. I was given a set off an '07 model. The right one had the cat converter and the left is sometimes referred to as a "dummy" because very little exhaust passes through it on the Harley. An ebay search turned up a new left muffler so I am using two left RK mufflers. I have made up the rear support brackets and am waiting for the front chrome clamps to arrive. Since the front clamp will determine how far the mufflers slide on I have to wait to drill the final hole in each rear support bracket. Hope to have it done next week.
  22. Similar to the wood burning tool, I use a soldering iron with a paddle tip and black zip ties for filler. Small wire such as paper clips cut into small pieces can be imbedded into the softened plastic to add some strength in crack repair if needed
