  1. Several months ago I heard they were going to announce in October
  2. A couple of more tips. Watch for the spacer when you pull out the upper rear bolt. They like to roll away and hide. Another is to take the bolts out of the saddlebag. I have left them lay in the bottom of the bag and there are many places for them to hide if you tip the bag or lay it down when you take it off. one more, the left bag may have a cable for the audio system going through a rubber grommet on the front portion of the back. Pull it out before you unbolt the bag.
  3. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?72631-Repacking-the-Swing-Arm-Bearings It's been awhile since I had mine apart but did you review this?
  4. Sounds like you have a rich fuel mixture. I would sync the carbs first.
  5. I think I had them in my boat back in the mid '70's. 150hp Merc
  6. My '07 had the same amount of whine as in the video above. I took it to the dealer just before the five year warranty expired. They replaced the basket with the "I" version although I did not confirm. The whine may have been somewhat better but I was accustomed to it and it never really bothered me for 40,000+ miles. Loud pipes and full face helmet may have helped. Or maybe knowing it had straight cut gears and thus I convinced myself it was stronger.???. Anyway, I feel the advantages of the bike outweighed the unusual harmless whine. New bike doesn't whine, yet, anyway
  7. Raising the rear or lowering the front is for improved handling on this bike
  8. I had Baron Nasty Boyz 4-2-4 on my '07 Many people told me they sounded like a small block Chev V-8. I have a used set for sale is you are interested.
  9. A bit of clarification: You can raise the rear end slightly for the same result if you can handle the extra height at the seat.
  10. Ed, Glad to hear you made it through travels safe. Did our quick parking lot repair in St Charles to your passing light bar hold up for the balance of your trip?
  11. Carl, has anyone checked all three rims to see if they are true?
  12. I used RTV sealant on the screws around ABS. All of the screws in the bags and trunk are likely to come loose
  13. You could always tow a trailer. I noticed CarbonOne added a hitch to his Slingshot
  14. I would suggest duct tape for 85MPH:cool10:
  15. I like the way M61AMECH built his taller. If you build it the correct height it should be wedged in there tight enough stay. I have used rubber corks from the hardware store in similar situations but I am not sure even their largest would be tall enough. I suppose you could fasten them together. Maybe use the automotive coil spring spacers?
  16. I've been looking for a way to do that with my Baggershield. Thanks!
  17. VideoAZ, I was looking at your pictures, particularly where you have the tape measure in the view and this may be a dumb question but... Are looking to put the rubber damper between the bars and the fairing? The damper should be between the top of the triple tree and the fairing. M61AMECH's picture is the best of those supplied in this thread to show what it should like. He has extended his, of course. If you are already looking at that route, sorry to have stepped in.
  18. Yes, saw one going down the road in Peoria, Illinois. Same color
  19. Looks good, Tom. thanks for sharing
  20. If the needle valve hangs up and fuel flows into the cylinder it could result in catastrophic engine failure. If the piston is down in its stroke with fuel in the cylinder when you crank the engine the piston travel cannot compress the fuel and you will have, at the least, a bent rod. I have had hydrostatic lock but I was fortunate the cylinder with the fuel had the piston at its uppermost travel. So in my case when hit the starter button the starter engaged but the engine was locked up. I pulled the spark plugs, cranked it over to blow the fuel out, changed the oil, flushed the float bowls, and was good to go. A tiny fleck of dirt can do this and you don't have any warning or any symptoms of any kind. I now turn the fuel off as a habit every time I turn the engine off
  21. If you have it torn down that far you may want to consider going the rest of the way to the bearings to clean and repack them with new grease
  22. Bob, we use the Uclear brand of communicators. We use iPhone for phone, Uclear intercom, and iPhone for music and GPS. The tool I am missing is the CB. Does your product allow CB to be added to my system?
  23. @Mad Dog, if you use the Mr Gasket pump you will need to be sure to turn the fuel off at the fuel tank petcock when you turn the bike off. This pump does not have the built in shut off valve to prevent fuel from potentially filling your cylinders with fuel resulting hydrostatic lock
  24. My RSTD had the factory positionable tips. They were more of a slash cut. I replaced those mufflers with Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boys. They, too, had slash cut tips that can be rotated to any position. Both of these are options as they will fit the Venture. I still have the Baron mufflers in the shop and plan to use them again. It interested send a PM.
  25. After ignoring it, my curiosity got the best of me and I had to check it out. Only took a few seconds but entertained me for a few. I guess I must be as bored as you!
