ABATE of Georgia has been talking about this for months now. The NHTSA got a 70,000 dollar federal grant to do the "safety" stops. There were 2 that day. One on I-95 and one on I-75. The grant is enough money for 6 stops in 2011. These consisted of 2 of the 6 stops. There were no citations written as one of the checkpoints got shut down due to weather. Go here and look around. There is a ride to the Capitol to protest these stops on the 23rd. http://www.abatega.org/ Education is the key.

First I need to say that I had the clutch slippage issue in 4th and 5th. Also on a slight uphill grade, I could not hold 5th gear at 50 mph. It would shudder and buck causing to me to downshift. I orderes his clutch spring upgrade. WOW! This thing should be listed under performance upgrades! I feel like I have more power than before. I can even hold 5th gear on the same grade and accelerate! It is almost like a brand new bike. If you haven't done this yet, do it! Best purchase I've made yet! Just for giggles, Mine is a 97 RSTC with 63,XXX on the odometer. Second owner and was prob not taken care of to well by the PO. Thanks Skydoc_17!

I rarely post as I search all the time! Since I've joined, I have had help syncing my carbs, learned where to get a backrest (Utopia) just ordered, Found out about the slight clutch slippage and ordered Skydoc_17's upgrade kit and just had fun. Thanks for being such an easy going site.

If anybody is going through Georgia, be mindful that as of March 3rd, Ga will more than likely start doing Motorcycle only "safety" stops. Please make sure all your paperwork, ins, helmets etc are in good working order. A.B.A.T.E of Georgia will try to post locations as they come available. Posted to their website. They are asking that all people take pics and videos during stops and send to ABATE. Just FYI

I have been on Jeep Forums for quite a time. I wheel a Grand Wagoneer. Henc my screen name there was GaWag. Ga = Georgia where I'm from Wag = Wagoneer what I wheel I got equally creative here. GaStar Ga = again where I'm at Star = Royal Star or Star motorcycles. I would not want to be Mr Krabs. He is stingy and money hungry. I have 9 yr old twin girls. Very familiar Sponge Bob.

New guy needs some carb help
GaStar replied to GaStar's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I did the plasti dip trick. Wow did it work like a charm! The only problem is that o found that the 2 leftside carbs are leaking. Searching for rebuild kits. The other problem is that I found that the 2 right side spark plug boots were not all the way seated. They are now. Of course now I have a slight hesitation in the throttle off idle. I looked through the manual and didn't see a lean/rich adjustment, only carbsync instructions. Any ideas? Thanks for all the help guys! -
New guy needs some carb help

Didn't think they were leaking. Wouldn't be running so well of course. I gotcha there. I am going to do the Saddle Sore 1000 in November and I don't want to be far from the house and develop a leak. Know what I mean? Trying to be pre-emptive on this. I appreciate the input. They just look really bad. -
For some reason at a redlight I looked down at the side of my engine. I noticed that the carb joints were pulsating with the engine. Fine right? There are huge cracks in the boots. Looked bad. Looks like 55 and 70 for left and right times 2 = 250 bucks. Ouch. Of course I don't want to be left on the side of the road either. I know how to find vehicle junkyards but haven't seen many bike yards. Anybody know where I can get some? I scanned ebay and didn't see any. Also might be a good time to upgrade my 97 RSTC to the 32mm Venture carbs. Anyone have a source on those either? I do plan to be a contributing member, may payup tomorrow. (no work tomorrow gonn abe home all day) I am in Gainesville, ga. Thanks very much.
