  1. A Victory XCT, no bills left over after Christmas. Oh and ISIS to wipe themselves off the face of the earth and leave us folks alone.
  2. Open the http://www.homedepot.com site to exterior lighting. Pick something purty out and wha la
  3. Thanks to our WW2 vets. My dad and father in-law included. Now I have to say when I first read the headline, I thought it was something someone said about these ISIS @#$turds
  4. You know Steve, with our winter folks down here I was really surprised they were not busier. I could eat one of those shaved prime rib flatbread again.
  5. Aint it the truth. Enjoy your moments now. Any of you all stationed in the TX, Ok, Col area in mid 70 thru 80's. Ever hears the song Love with end? How about Baby Blue. Do you know who wrote them and what bad he played in? LOL its kind of a hoot for us USAF guys.
  6. I'll stick to motorcycle related stuff. Otherwise will probably run out of band width or whatever. I had been riding off road dirt bikes for awhile off and on for a couple years then had a break. While at a friends house he had a yamaha dt 125 maybe and a Bultaco something. We go blasting off down a path, him on the yamaha and me on the Bultaco. Had to make a left hander kind of hard so I grabbed some rear brakes. Well I thought it was going to brakes. At that time the Bultacos were one of them bike the dang pedals were opposite of what I had been riding, so I got me the next lower gear very very quickly. Shortly there after I was picking my butt off the ground. Last time I think I rode anything with the reversed pedal deal. Dang Italians.......
  7. I was looking for a motor for a fellow on a different forum the other nite. When I saw the engine he needed and it was like 1300 I was surprised for sure. For that kind of money you can buy a complete bike almost for him.
  8. Many years ago when I worked in an independent auto shop, we had a car that sometimes run fine then stop. Sometimes many miles sometimes 5 min. After weeks of troubleshooting and guessing we found it purely by accident. Neighbor hood kid had dropped a golf ball in the tank. Fuel would get to a certain level, ball would float to pickup and block it. Car dies, suction lost ball drops and picks up fuel again and away we go. One of the dangdest things I ever saw. Once unleaded fuel cam around you didnt have to worry about that anymore.
  9. Jeff, you need to tell him about the separate triggering of the HID system. I may have the diagram you sent me for the switch with the warning light. Or you could give him the set up finally ended up using off the brake light.
  10. PM Bob Myers- he is the guru on the Bluetooth-cb gizmos stuff. He was telling me back a couple months ago how to make the cb and uhf radios and something else all work thru Sena blue tooth. WAY more info than I needed.
  11. First 2 things we tell our auto tech students on electrical issues. FIRST-check ALL connections. Power and grounds. Then for any starting/charging system issues you need a fully charged battery. If your bike battery is old, maybe you can use a car battery and run bike and see if it charges correctly before running out and throwing $100 at a battery. 4yr is pretty good on a bike battery unless it is a gel.
  12. Some of the "unemployment" numbers being down is skewed to say the least. Numbers are provided from the unemployment agency/department or whatever of the states. Once benefits run out or someone just quits "reporting in" at said department they just write them off thinking they are working. Truth is the folks just gave up. A few years back my wife was in this situation. Eventually you get fed up with applying for a job that should pay 10-12 bucks an hour and all they want to pay is minimum wage, but you have to have a associates degree to get that. But back to the plugs. Really they designed the head goofy. You cant use a standard plug in it, so your stuck with this made to fail plug. Probably they dont use any kind of anti-seize on them on assembly. With the longer service intervals, even on "regular" type plugs this presents problems. As virtually everything has aluminum heads now, and all spark plugs are steel. So dissimilar metals will corrode and more or less weld themselves together. Some A-S will help with that. I had to do the plugs on our 02 Durango 4.7 I had one plug that had made itself one with the head. I started to take it out and all the ceramic came out, but the "nut part and threads" were still in head. Hmm now what Bat Man? So I had to find an E-Z out that I could get to work. Once it came out the threads were not great. So then I had to use a thread chaser to clean that mess up. One of them 40 min jobs that took all day.
  13. Well this should add some fodder. Just read on Yahoo news the GM is going to start selling some sort of Chinese built SUV here in the states. REALLY Our guberment bailed them out, now they are going to sell some totally foreign car here under the premise of being "American" car company?
  14. Might be worth a try Steve, if someone just cant get a good feel. I would say maybe just enough fluid in reservoir to cover bottom and you should be OK. So potentially you would need 2 syringes. One for the new fluid your pushing in, and one to empty the reservoir.
  15. I have a electric fuel pump out of something. So I just hook it up and suck the fuel out. I have sucked down my fair share of fuel thru a hose. So the fuel pump is now my option.
  16. There are some places that make what they call "highway bar close outs" or something like that for open highway bars. Actually the lowers can be a PIA. In the summer they dont vent and get HOT. They are god in wet, but your knees still get soaked as all the water is now forced between the fairing and leg lowers. At least the lowers on the Victory Cross Country have vents in them that work.
  17. When I was in USAF they went thru a time when flight crews doing air drop mission on cargo aircraft like C-130 and C-141 (which I was assigned to) wore some sort of a composite helmet with visor, sun shield etc. Fancy bugger anyways sounds kind of like yours. We didnt wear them on regular missions, just airdrops. So as a precursor to this story of helmets. When I was doing my flight physical and they did all the poking and prodding etc, they also take you finger, hand and foot prints. Wondering why I asked how come. They tech doing the work said "so when you crash we having something to go by to put pieces with parts. Ohhhh So back to the question of why we had to wear helmets only on air drop missions? I Dunno, because chances of a helmet helping with a fall from 10,000 feet @ say 300 mph? Not much.
  18. LOL man sure made me laugh. I liked the part at the beginning about not caring about stupid people. Lewis black is a guy that can crack me up too.
  19. Try to find something with "slim ballast". Usually a little better quality outfit. Easier to hid also, although on the RSV not a big deal.
  20. Puc, even though I try to "preview" a route I have built and uploaded on the GPS. More often time then not its still an amazing "holy crap where does that road go" or "how did I get here?" LOL Unlike you I dont cherish 2 trackin on the 2nd gen. I have not been on a dirt bike in oh...35yr or somtin and shure as heck dont want to on this behemoth. Now I do use the google maps thing to check out the roads and kind of see what the scenery is going to look like. that way if it dont look interesting I can develop a plan B.
  21. My theory is that Leslie or KD tools actually engineered the plugs. That way they could sell some special tools and make money.
  22. WE just bouhgt 2 new Bell Mag 9 with the Sena mounts built in. They have to drop down sun shield in addition to the clear face shield. We had the previous model and they were getting like 7 years old and padding getting flat so figured time to replace. Cowpuc-I'm sure I can look around for you man and find like a pack of 10 stickers that say "DOT" That should be less painful.
  23. Clamp has a single bolt in center. So you can move clamp around bar to sort of aim direction, then point light and tighten the center bolt. With the lowers on the bike I have to be careful on how far in they are pointed as I dont want them rubbing the fairings. I thought about making a bracket to mount them to the forks at one point.
  24. I can say Rick products are good in my use. I had to replace the stator on my 07 Vulcan. Its a weak spot with them as well. Every guy I talked to on boards used a Ricks when theirs went out. All have had flawless performance.
  25. Gary, the load on the small looking wires is what concerned me. They look pretty puny on the RSV 2nd Gen. maybe 16ga. I really liked my 80/100 bulb but the wiring had me concerned so I went HID. Now looking back I think a fellow could wire one of those up and mybe use a relay and be OK. I dont think the "heat" per say would be an issue unless its an all plastic housing/reflector.
