  1. On my bikes that didnt have bags. I would put the papers in a zip lock bag, and store in the same area as the tool pouch. Usually that was under the seat or inside the side cover or wherever. But it is out of fairly easy reach
  2. I dont order one until I'm ready to change. I open it up, let the beads spread a little if need be and check date codes right away. I got a tie once that the freakin beads were touching. I had to put a couple wood blocks in to spread it a little. Or I would have never got it to seat.
  3. I too would be looking towards the thermostat. If fan is comming on, it really should drop temp quickly.
  4. I use to have a flat bed utility trailer. To secure it I threw a chain through a spoke in the wheel and have a couple links of chain welded to the frame by the wheel and locked chain to it.
  5. Well they look like the only option. My XCT has some leather flap type deals that do the same thing. Keep from roasting the nuts.
  6. My son and I are going to the Global Rally Cross race at the speedway this weekend again Steve. LOL Last year we cooked. I will get with you next week maybe and see if we can meet up. Bikerjohn, you all have a safe trip. Hope the weather holds out for ya.
  7. We use to have some guys run straight alcohol in their stock cars. Their clam was the alcohol made more HP and ran cooler than gas. I dunno, maybe they did but they burned almost twice as much fuel per race too. You really have to jet them things up to run and live as Jeff noted.
  8. I have a leather jacket with quilted liner. Cant tell you the last time I wore it, or needed to here in Fla. I also have a first gear I think textile jacket with a liner. Its a dang warm unit, have not worn it much either. I have a Tourmaster Air jacket and use a freeze out liner for cold. When I bought the jacket it did not have a liner with it. But I use this and it came from Cycle Gear. There is one not to far from you in Tucson I think. Its worth a trip to check out what they have. The mesh you can pull the liner out and they are comfortable as long as your moving.
  9. The Federals are Chinese also. A few years back the 600 racing legends race cars switched from BFG to a Federal.
  10. Yup!!! The XCT is the same. General rule I was told to start with was no more than about 2/3 on right side open, left side dont seem to be as fussy. Join a Indian forum or 2. Here is one that is part of a Victory site.
  11. Humm Did some searching and cant find any difinative info on where it is made. I would stay away from a Chinese made tire. Some take a lot of weight to balance, are made oval or have misaligned belts. So your looking for a BFG, look for a Michelin in same size. Same company, different price points. Toyo is a decent tire also.
  12. Makes me absolulty SICK !!! Sick with envy. "Hope you had as nice a time as it looks.
  13. Back in the days of leaded fuel, yes the mixture of 50-50 or so would bump the actual octane. I would mix Av gas and regular leaded and get higher octane than just the 110 low lead av gas. Now days av gas would be nice, but it is expensive and "legally" to run it on the highway is verboten. No road tax is paid on it. So one thing that I usually think of about the time I am fueling up with something other than regular. So the bloke before me used regular, I am paying for a higher grade from the time the pump starts pumping. So how much regular am I getting before I get the good stuff? I mean shoot there must be half gallon in the hose and pump of regular. Puc- I had cars with the dash pot and later the anti-diesel solenoid, which worked better imop. But the easiest way was to just leave it in gear, kill the switch and let clutch out. That definalty killed the motor.
  14. So... Maybe thats why them Harley guys have all them tattoos?
  15. I used one like this. I installed new line from pump and installed filter up where a fellow can see it to inspect, and easier to change. I mounted it like rite at back of the tank and frame by mount bolt area.
  16. My bike had a dealer installed passing light when I got it. I went in to add a relay and found the glass fuse holder (really a glass fuse???) melted and just about to loose contact. Somewhere here on the site there is some pictures of it. Also wires run down at the bottom "hinge point" of the forks. There are stops there for side to side, it is close tolerance and wires get pinched easy if not tied and routed correctly. I could tell you how I know this, but you might be board. lol

    Godspeed Ian

I have caught a few of the races here on late night TV. They did announce one night a sidecar racer had passed away. Sorry for your loos of a friend. I have lost some friends in the world of auto racing here in the states. Some have hit me a lot harder than others for some reason.
  18. Congrats. I have read a few posts on heat issues much like the XCT Victory I have. It takes a bit to figure out some heat management with the leg vents. Dont know if the Indians have those or not. One would think wide open would cool you more, but it actually causes more heat to get back to me.
  19. I mostly ran regular in the RSV. Occasionally in the mountains I would run some premium. The Victory calls for 91 I think but mostly I run regular back and forth to work. I think with the FI and electronic ignition it can adjust to it much better then the carbs. But basically if the engine is designed for a specific octane it will run best on it and you tossing $$ away. Save those pennies for ice cream.
  20. So do they draw 40w? If so you need to check your wire size going to your passing light to be sure its large enough. The 35w standard bulbs draw a pretty big load.
  21. Over the last year to year and half I have heard some bad reports on Avon tires cracking around the rim/bead area. Not that old of tires either. One fellow mounted his up and about a month later was checking bike out prior to raod trip and tire was splitting around rim.
  22. Far as I remember, the "headlight" dont come out. It is a built into the frame kind of deal. To change the "lens" part you have to separate it somehow. Some have done it and it work, some have had to find a new headlight because they dont have enough to make work.
  23. Looks to be a RAM mount. Thats what I have minus the charger part there. It holds phone secure, is easy to get phone in and out. I have a u bolt type clamp onto the handle bars. How does this one mount?
  24. If its lost, it dont cost the shipper. USPS or whom ever losses it pays. So seller aint out nothing. Now it could be the seller feels its a viable option due to cost because we are cheap skates. If you have an option for "free" vs say $8.00 which do you choose?
  25. EZ fix on the pet cock. I fixed a couple. I actually oval-ed the pipe piece a tick, used some fuel safe RTV and tapped in with a hard plastic hammer. Wood would also work fine. As for the fuel filter there is a couple fixs for that. There is a listing on this site for a fram and wix and couple other replacement filters. I added a piece of fuel line and put a clear filter that has a replaceable element in it from autozone.
