  1. so for grins I had to look up a conversion chart, as the old system 3.00x16 sure dont give you many hits. The new size or what we use now comes up with a 120/80x16. Morcycle super store has a Shinko 712 for $51. Speed H (130mph doubt you need that) a 551lb load.
  2. Now I think I read somewhere that if you remove the chrome strips on the front of the 2nd gen fairing the water rolls off better also. Face it, ridin in the rain just sucks.
  3. Some of our concerns are same as we have. The boss is afraid parking th bike in the living/dining are will cause fumes etc. I can agree with that. Outback is one of the ones (bumper pull) that has the front cargo area. But the steepness of the ramp in and worse yet out is a concern for unloading, so I have pretty much stayed looking at rear cargo jobs. Unless you are just dead set against a bumper pull, your E 350 should be good to go on most bumper pulls. You have to get up to about 28' I think to get into ones that have the wall between cargo and living areas. Here is a 36' that has separate cargo. Man I know there is more because I found them the other day. Danged If I can now though.
  4. When lowering the forks, make sure you are not hitting the bottom of the fairing. Also you may want to scope out which way you need to turn the schrader valves to be able to service air. I think when I added the risers I had to take the cables out of the "holders" on the handlebars to allow some slack. Heck I may have even rerouted them at the time as I had the fork thing going on too and had room to gain some slack in them.
  5. One of the guys on a Victory site I'm one was out on a weekend trip I think he said with guys on HD. One morning they came out to load up and his was the only bike with an oil puddle under it. Turns out one of the Harley guy thought it would be cute to put some bacon grease under his to make it look like it was leaking. Only RSV I have seen have oil under it and not be the over fill issue are the ones with a blown rear shock.
  6. I ran into a problem like that a couple years back. The day was nothing but rain in the forecast and we had to make tracks. I stopped at a Wally World and got a small shower squeegee. Aint the perfect scenario, but hey it worked. I just put the squeegee between me and the tank bag and pressed on. I just never got around to cutting down or buying a new shorter shield. I was leaning towards the Cee Baily's

    New Rider er

I think the best mine felt stability wise was lowering by 3/4" (should have went the full 1") and the 130/90 front tire. I went with Michelin commander 2 but other make them in that size.
  8. Take it to an upholstery shop and get recovered.
  9. We used plexus in the air force on our windshields. I have used it on bike windshields and its the same stuff they sell to deglaze yellowing headlights.
  10. A week or so ago around 1100 pm or so it was after news went off anyways. I was on my desk top and the internet went out. I just went to bed and gave up. Next day I couldn't get my xfinity gateway/router thing to get a consistent connection to all my PC's. I had bought my own router a week or 2 before all this. So on the phone for probably an hour with them and them doing this and that from their end and finally success. But now we notice the signal strength is not what it was prior to the xfinity "update". Its almost like they sabotaged my wireless signal so I will go back to renting their router.
  11. Depends on why you want to sell. I really liked my RSV, but I just finally got to the point I didnt feel confident in my skills @ slower speeds. I just went to a bike I had ridden a few times on test rides that felt more balanced and low enough I could get my feet down if need be. Good luck on the sale. There is plenty of bikes out there for sale.
  12. Link pops up as virus possible. But if your putting a 900lb bike in the back of a 1/2 ton your already close to load limit.
  13. Base camp and map source both did nothing but make me go to the liquor cabinet. I use TYRE Much easier to use. It uses google maps and when your GPS is connected it will load it on to your GPS.
  14. I dunno, I kinda like the ole Chevy or whatever it is. There is a fellow up Orlando way that shows up to some car shows that has one like that and has a straight axle gasser loaded on it. I want to say like a 56 Vicky
  15. Yea for sure if I went bumper pull I wouldnt even think about pulling one without an equilzer hitch. I probably should have had one on that single axle 14 footer.
  16. love my Cummins. Bought it when I had mu 14' and legends race car. the car and equip was probably 2200 cant even guess what the trailer weighed. Originally I had a 1/2 ton 318 short box to pull it. At highway speeds sometimes it was like heardin cats. That trailer seemed to push the truck around. So traded for current one. Single axle trailer so I'm sure that didnt help. But this truck has pulled even a 24' with an extra 12" roof height packed to the gills with my kids furnature and the back of the truck stuffed too. No problemo. The fellow I got this truck from lived in Wisc and pulled a 5th wheel, it has air bags on the rear axle too. Tires wil make a difference, currently they are not up to spec for towing up to range. I dont pull a trailer now and when I had to get tires year and half a go I didnt go load range E. chances are this truck wont be what I would pull the rig with as the boss thinks we need something bigger cab wise. I'm sure she think we need to take the 80 lb bernese mountain dog with us, sheesh I thought it was vacation? Found a nice 1 ton dually with like 92k and a stick to boot for under 22k. That still hurts.
  17. OK Folks might be wrong section here but didnt really go in the "bike trailer" section neither. We have been entertaining the thought of maybe getting a camper. To me the only thing that makes sense is a Toy Hauler. One thing that the boss dont like about the smaller bumper pull jobs is most of them you park the bike in the kitchen or living room. Outback makes a couple and you park in the bed room, they side load door. But some have said those are pretty steep ramps and I would have to concur from pics. So the bedrooms on the bumper pulls some of them look um well cramped to get into bed. So I'm thinking 5th wheel. Now starts my issues. I have an old 96 3/4 stick Cummins straight cab, so far I aint found nothing I can pull. But the boss dont think it would be a good enough truck to set out cross country in. I beg to differ, but ..... So looking at some info on the trailers I'm poking around. Dutchman makes Voltage and a Voltage V series (a bit less $$) and also Triton which is significantly less. Not that we can afford new any ways. So take a 36' Triton it shows a dry weight of about 11,500 and cargo carry of 4900. So using old math skill (none of that common core crap) thats a total rig max weight of 16,400. Trailer bike clothes gas food water etc. So I go to looking for towing capacities, this is where my confusion begins. I look my truck up and the door sticker says 8800 lb, look in the owners manual and it says 20,000 total truck, trailer everything. round figures the truck weight about 5200 or something. I cant find it now. But the info I have been finding the tow capacity for the 3/4 and 1 ton is the same. So how do these folks get by using 1/2 ton trucks to pull some of these big 5th wheels? Am I figuring things wrong?
  18. I just hope we have a country he has to come back to. Shhes The way things have been going lately.....
  19. My son dont ride, but we do get to spend some time together. Just a week or so ago we both went to the local go kart track. The old guy still has it. LOL At least for a couple sessions anyways. It good to challenge them I think. Good times
  20. Changing circumstances for me. My job of 15yr with good pay and benefits went away. Then out of work for almost 2 years. SO now the part time job has no vacation time and 30 hours a week from late Aug to mid June. So not much going on during summer, its FREAKIN A HOT. Not many events going on that are reasonably close. I would have rode up to Wisconsin for that deal, but didnt know if I could get a kitchen pass, and I got nobody to ride with on long distances anymore. Funds are a bit on the watchful side to as my work is only part time now. So yea I guess life is dealing me a hand thats hard to play for now.
  21. I would have to throw the BS flag. Now it may work as a temp stop leak with the sugar and all, but as I ask my students if your stopping up a hole in the radiator, do ya think it might be clogging up tubes in the radiator? I will say that a month or so ago I had a radiator start leaking again. I went ahead and replaced the cap and hoses as all were 2002 vintage. I just put distilled water in it and some water wetter type product. I figure I will run it all summer and see how it does. However I dont think it adds any freeze protection, so if I think I'm leaving Fla this winter I'll have to do something.
  22. First thanks for your service. Hey we can all understand I think having many irons in the fire. So if you can keep the studies up and your job going, your doing better than I ever did. %8 days and a wake up aint bad, thats the down hill slide for sure. Check back when you get stateside.
  23. Yea mine served well for what it was. Heck we even pulled it behind a Firebird we had for awhile. It was a fair design for what it was a trailer to put camp gear and clothes in. Knowing what I do now I would probably make it wider and lower, even if you had to make the lid opening bigger, you could make a pole to go under the lid when layed back to support it for a stove or what have you.
  24. Are you talking about something like this? I can tell you I had a 900 Vulcan I put a fairing on, and had issues with 3 car type stereo's I tried. First was a pioneer marine band with CD changer and a remote box that plugged in. The cord was like 6ft long so I had shorten that up to start. The dimensions listed for radio it should fit. Well yea kind of. It had a big heat sink on the back that lacked a 1/4" of fitting into the radio hole because the fairing was sloped. So I just filed off the edge until it fit. Got it all installed, used velcro to attach the control to either the handlebar or I could move a couple zip ties and attach to spedo housing in center of tank. All this engneering for it to work about 2 weeks. Shook something loose inside case (I later fixed it and its in my old truck now.) But because I had filed off the tip of the heat sink, no warranty. So now whats a guy to do. I looked aroun locally and found one listed at Wally World for "ATV" Hmm thats should be rugged right? First one lasted a week, second maybe 2 both went back to store. So looking on e-bay for options I decided on a small compact radio like this. I ditched the el-crapo speakers as I had some Sont Explodes in the bike. This radio would not run them very loud though so I ended up getting a small amp. I built a face plate so it all fit into the standard radio hole. I used ear buds more than the speakers as over about 45 or so it just gets to much distorted. Evne my RSV and Vic are like that much over 45 or so and the wind washes out the music. So I see now there are some much nicer small compact units on e-bay, looky here. this was my Vulcan set up. Hard to see but look under the bag you can see units side by side. Here is a pic with the car radio. Couldn't play CD because door would no open due to handlebar interference. LOL I forgot about that.
  25. Silicone works, usually nail polish will also. Shoot you could probably use elmer's glue. You just need something that s going to "semi" gum up the threads so the bolts dont just work themselves out.
