Must be old BSA/Triumph. Shifter brake swapped.

I can say, my CD player never made a long distance trip. It eats to much room up. So I ran a Y plug to aux in and my phone and used Pandora for a long time. On the Victory it has a connection for the Ipod and handlebar controls. Now that I have learned sort of how to load music and use it, I like it. RAM X mount your phone/Ipod and you should be pretty good to go.

So, Jester how goes the electrical SNAFU??

Uninsured cost me more than the rest of the 100/300 policy just about when I had the RSV. With as many illegals as we have hear, I wouldn't drive anything with out uninsured. They buy a 30 day policy, buy a tag and cancel ins.

I mounted one of these on my Victory Cross Country. This rack is pretty close to same size. Somewhere he has actual size listed , if not I'll measure mine for ya. Also Matzu sells a rack for the Yamaha trunk.

Bell Mag 9 Helmet. Anybody using one? If so do you like it?
djh3 replied to Midnight's topic in Watering Hole
I bought 2 of them last October from J&P. I didnt want red, but for some reason those were $99 and the others were more, so red it is. Actually got the Mag9 made for SENA SMH 10 bluetooth rigs which I had bought a month or so before that. Previous helmets were Mag 8. Now I dont know if its because my Mag 8 was well broken in or the 9 is made tighter, but it defiantly is a tighter fit IMOP. I can not wear my fit over sunglasses or my Costa's in that hat. But the flip side is you have the drop down sun-shield. I do not think it is any noiser than the Mag 8 or probably any other 3/4 I have worn. It's not as noisy as my 1/2, does that help? They and other helmet manufactures boast about vents, airflow etc. HOGWASH I dont feel no air moving around any helmet with that much coverage. Best I can do is wear a heat out helmet hat (or whatever they call it skull cap) from cycle gear. I would buy another as I have had good service out of my Bell helmets. I would maybe go a size larger. I dunno like I said earlier the fit is a bit tight. I keep waiting for it to "wear in". Still on sale @ J&P $90 now for red. -
OH MAN you talk about fouling up the works. OR worse yet let them punch it in and give them to odd part of change. Say you Micky D's is 8.67. Hand them a dime and .03 with you $10. The wheels will just about come off with the smoke pouring out their ears.

You could post it up on E-bay and see what it brings. Do a local pickup, or buyer arranges shipping after payment. It is a niche bike, kind of like the HD First Responder model CVO jobs. Its nice looking and all, but it wouldnt be for me.

A couple of well placed alignment marks on bolt heads would probably tell you ift hey at least took the valve cover off. Easy part is the shims in and out. All the external @#%$ is whats a PIA.
-
Give a check of the bolts that go thru the hiem joints also. Maybe give them a shot of brake kleen and then lube up.

Small black ones they had were in fact "ipod simple" The one I think he is talking about is the 3rd party job the guy from Spain or France was making. Honestly if you can find the Ipod rig thats probably the way to go. I looked all over e-bay and a couple places and couldnt find one of them anywhere. Use to find them off and on.

I worked on my driveway extension last week. I have concrete, but it is a bit narrow when you get my pick up and the wifes Durango on it. So I put down some timbers and that weed barrier stuff and rock. That was maybe 5 years ago. Oh yea first time I did it like 8-10 bags at a time those little .3 cu ft jobs I think is what they go. So by now the timbers are rotted and missing etc. So it was a week long project to repair things. So I needed more gravel because 5yr of driving on it has packed it down and it needs more. So I got one of those 1100lb bags of 3/4 gravel from Home Depot. Got it home and spread it all out by hand, then had to go back and get another because one was not enough. So over a ton of gravel by hand with shovel. I feel your pain man.

I know down here for me its been the heat. If you have not got outside stuff done by about 11-12 you are soooo hot. Even @ 9 am I walk out in garage and look at what I want to do and 5 minutes later sweat is running down your back. Its the start it up part thats hard. Once I'm out there and hot who cares.

I would say I am above average on the skill set. Been making my living one way or another thru mechanical ability. But when it came to this just I was really apprehensive about digging in. Biggest thing is there is about 8 hours of getting it ready to take apart to do an hours or so job. Tank has to come off, right side front leg fairing, drain coolant system, remove air box. there are some lines and hoses on top that have to be either removed or relocated during operation. Then you can actually get to the valve covers. LOL I had no idea how the leg fairing stuff came apart so I really took my time researching and trying to figure out how it all went together. The hold up on this deal is once you get to inspecting things if you have just the tool, to adjust you need shims to swap out. Well if you have to order them that's going to take a couple days shipping. there are a couple kits floating around members have to "loan" with shims on a replace what you use rule. Skydoc has valve cover gasket kit and the other odd bits that really need to be replaced when you do this. Same shims are used on FJ1200, a Honda cbr900 or something Triumph lots of bikes so they are not hard to find. It is knowing which ones you need when you got it torn down. I dont know what your "comfort or skill level" is but I would say an average guy if he takes his time and follows directions can accomplish this. Dont get in a RUSH. Check everything 2 or 3 times when measuring to make sure you get the same reading say 2 out of 3 times. I'm anial I would check and get reading across motor, rotate thru once or twice, then take readings again across engine. I did this like 4 or 5 times and used the readings I got consistently. So next time you have a bit of free time and its to hot to ride, to wet to ride or you just have insomnia here is a write up on the procedure.

Time to get the ohm meter out and start checking wires I think.

I'm behind the times and cheap. My S&T is like 09. It does not make GPX files only EST which are some sort of secret Microsoft code thing. I did do some investigation and either the 2011 version and I know the 2014 version will export GPX. But I d/l a trial today of the 2013 but it is only good 14 days, and they still want like $80 bucks or something for this program. -
A fellow over on the Delphi boards has something going on he needs to remove the left saddle bag. So it has an MP3 player thing or something wired up via the CD cable. Well only way to get bag off it cut wire harness. The end that use to go to CD player has a big square plug now.

Glad your good to go.

I would put some tubes in them. When you dismount one side to get tube in, as long as there is not a crack all the way thru the tire that would pinch the tube I'd say your good. We had some sort of old Cadet on my uncles place tires were sad shape. 12 or 13 inch jobs, but they wanted a lot of coin at the time for them. We went to Western Auto (remember them) and got a couple small car tires that were close and called it good. Might have even been snow treads I dont remember.

If your off roading again some tomorrow, if you lube it up find a zip lock or maybe even a wal mart bag and cover the piviot point to keep trash out of it. You wil want to make sure you keep it off the pipes for sure.

Re: Cleaning and Bleeding Brakes
djh3 replied to usnavyvet72's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use brake Kleen and a tooth brush around the pistons when changing pads. You dont want to nick up the pistons as they may not seal right. Just looked up a listing on e-bay for another fellow for a seal kit and it was like $27. -
Tranfering Microsoft Streets & Trips froutes to Garmin GPS
djh3 replied to M61A1MECH's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Steve Base Camp was confusing as !@#$%. I bet I read half dozen sites with tricks to make routes. Mapsource wasnt much better. I discovered TYRE. Its free and easy to use to me. Works kind of like S&T. What I like about S&T is you can put in you want to ride for X hours and take a break for say 20 min. You can figure in how far a tank of gas is and it will tell you about where youll have to stop. Then it figures it all out and gives you how long your day will be. TYRE on the other hand just gives you how long in hours not accounting for stops. But it imports easy as make route, connect device, select import tab and boom its there. -
From what I have learned yes. If they fit the FLHT (touring HD) bikes your good.
