I know, make it a toll road. Dollar a tire. Then truckers will look for a different way around.
-
Yea we see how well the signs work. I guess you dont have to actually read to get a CDL. Just match shapes or something. Thing is the couple times I have been on there I always see police. So why dont they fine the heck out of these guys. Word would get around "dont go that way"

So, what kind of heavy accent? One of them Yankee's or Cajun type?

Glad you made it off there alive. My last two attempted trips almost killed me. The last in particular. A HUGE Semi from the north bound met me in MY lane at first curve after the Deals Gap restaurant. Ran me off the road, never stopped or cared if I went off the side a couple hundred feet and died. Until they forbid large trucks, semi's and for that matter fifth wheels from this road I will not ride it. One side has signs "recommending large trucks not use" but nothing stops them. This looks familiar http://dcclassiccycles.dynamitedave.com/trips/dragon2012/dragon5.JPG http://tailofthedragon.com/wp/wp-content/gallery/trucks-on-the-dragon/Truck61011-1.jpg

New radio/intercom cable
djh3 replied to Big Auggie's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK may have a fix for you. Does the cable have say an inch or slack beyond where you say if you kink it to make work? If so I have some of the 5 pin connectors that will work with the radio system. Are/can you solder and repair? Just cut the bad spot out of the cable, solder on the new leads and your ready to go. The wires are very small and I will say tough to solder at times. -

So which piece has the issue? The round part or the square box thing? Does the square thing look to be screwed together or glued? If its screwed together may be able to repair wires inside. -
Hmm now what did I do with that recipet fer my oil I got a couple weeks back? Maybe its still in the bag? My luck no.

Undecided. May read up on one. But I think I'm done buying bikes. My XCT is less weight, lower CG and handles better for me. So unless they do something revolutionary probably not. I likes my 40+ mpg Fuel Injection.

Yup once in a blue moon I get one from supposedly pay pal about updating info. I will normally go sign in to my account from a separate page, and see if there is in fact a message about updating anything. Some of these jokers even if you click on the link and then you think "wait a dang minute here" They already go some bug installed rite then to track some info.

Lawsuits will be a flyin. I can see if HD gets busted for seeing or making this stuff its going to roll down hill. If I'm HD and get whacked for aftermarket stuff being illegal, I'm suing any company or feds that allow someone else say Dyna jet to make the same parts I just got fined for. Tons of the Victory guys are running, cam advance gears, timing controllers and aftermarket pipes/exhaust. So is Vance and Hines next on the extinction list? Cobra? I think the suits from HD beat this thing down and it all goes away quietly. As has been mentioned if they go after the motorcycle market, do you really think the truck aftermarket is far behind? Actually to me its kind of funny. My 96 Cummins makes better power stock than one that is like 5-6 yr newer.

If you post some pics, maybe we can hel pyou out here. If it is simply the 5 pin connector, I have some new ones that can be soldered on to repair the wires. -
I prefer frugal or cost effective. Nothing seems to ever come easy to me, so it sure aint going out easy.

Probably to sad and close to true. These knuckle heads in big business to me seem to go about things bass akwards at times.

+1 on double checking setting and buttons. When you go to looking for the USB blue-tooth dongles, make sure it will xmit and receive. If your needing to like connect to you cell phone for a hot spot or the like. Most of them will receive like a signal from your phone but dont work the other way.

Well dont know how much your gift card is for, but you do know the HD stands for "hundred dollars" right? The SENA smh 10 are about $200 for a pair most places. -
Best bet, check their web site and see if it has any information about that. I'm on Verizon and if I read it right I get signal and can text, but voice calls and data have to be "turned on" so to speak. It's like 10 bucks to activate plus whatever the calls cost per minute. You may have to call their help line for info.

My closest Yamaha dealer was over 45 min one way. My Victory dealer is an hour and 20 one way. Needless to say I need options. Wix, Purolator bac when they fit, Mobil 1 or Bosch filters. I pretty much stay with Rotella T6, Mobil 1 in the 10w40 or V-twin 20-50

I have to say the XCT has the same kind of heat issues like SilverT said. I have not removed the CATs yet but it is in my thinking to maybe do that. although I just read a story the other night about Hd getting fined by the govt for producing "off highway" use pipes etc for their bikes. The wife and I went for a ride most of the day yesterday here in Fla. Temps in mid 90's. Only time was getting bad was slow traffic times. Dont get me wrong it was hot all of the time, but the legs were not bad until you got hung in traffic for 10 min or so. The Voyager has some major heat issues too. but holy crap guys we are straddling engines bigger than my first VW had.

I think this is the best come back I have seen yet. LOL Everytime I see this thread or one like it I have to check the date. They all read the same basicly. "Yamaha reps say its in the works" yada yada. Or I have to check and see if its April 1st.

Yes the Purolator filter were redesigned. Now they dont work. I switched to WIX now that I have an O'reilly close by. Here is the thread on the filter problem.

If the puncture is in the tread area, a plug can be applied. I have run a couple thousands of miles. Is it preferred? Probably not, depends on size of hole I suppose. As far as a tube, no problem. But here is the deal. If you dont patch the hole in the tire from puncture, it can/will pinch the tube and you could have a flat all over again. Once again if the hole is in the center part of carcass it is repairable, not sidewall. Plus putting a tube in a tire is a huge PIA. Thats one of the reasons I got away from the Vulcan 900. Spoke wheels and tubes.

Electronics charging question
djh3 replied to Mad Dog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is a couple observations I had with my RSV. One of my phones (LG) was picky as heck on 12v chargers. My old Galaxy s2 or 3 (I forget) not so much. Most aftermarket even the cheapo Big Lots ones worked fine with it. My new S7 seems to be the same way. So you may want to make sure its a "name brand" charger. The USB scoche cig adapter and USB micro cord didnt seem to be such a hot set up neither, the USB side would walk out. Also my plug on the RSV was constantly getting a fine corrosion on the outer part (ground) the plug contacts. I would use some scotch brite and then a little dielectric grease. But still every 3-4 weeks at times I would have to clean it up.
