Second Gens run from 99 to 2014. Way to much info available here to try and list it again. Look for rear shock leakin or pogo stick effect. They are known to go bad. Replacement thru Hagon for around $500 and about an hours work. Clutch whine on some models in 4th and 5th gear @ cruise speeds.

Pretty scoot. Like that candy lookin paint job. As for a tape deck, I may have a cassette deck in a dusty box in the garage.

The sound is just horrible no matter where. That was something else I researched. The Speed Pro has an external mic plug (2.5mm) So I have a 3.5mm computer mic I was fooling with for a project I didnt use. So I stopped by Radio Shack today and got a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. If I mount a mic either in my helmet I could narrate or just tape it or something by the speaker for radio sound. That was my first video I ever put together. I now have an edit program and sound editor so I could actually mute the sound of the wind.

South Ga? Depends on where as they have evacuated most of the coastal areas. Traffic here in Fla on some of the major routes are crazy with traffic.

11 oclock news on now. Saying the storm is expected to be a bit more east than forecast about 8. Which is good as will keep winds more off shore. I got things picked up around yard so done about all I can do. They say we should expect 50-70 mph winds here where I am.

Only like 3 places it can leak. 1-the seal for the drain plug 2-the inboard axle seal where it has the gear for the drive hub 3-on the driveshaft yoke side. My first place to suspect is the drain plug seal. Is there evidence of a leak close to the wheel by the diff? Then might be the drive seal. IF its the yoke seal I think it would be dripping forward of the diff by the motor.

The larger the bit you drill out to, the better results in my experience. Because it has lees mass to make the threads grip. If you have some left handed bits they are kind of nice as sometimes they will back themselves out as your drilling. Good bits are a must. No horrible freight jobs

Had the 230 on my RSV prior to trading. It was a good wearing tire I had about 5k or so on it when I traded. Wear looked fine. I may try the radial shinkos that fit my XCT

KRETZ, I got the Speed Pro. Kind of like the Air Pro with up grades I guess. I can connect to phone, aim and away we go. I like you didnt have a specific need, but for $80 what the hey. My camera came with a big suction cup mount. I mount it on the front fairing and tried it. So far I like that point best.

I am heading up Sat kind of that way. Not riding the Dragon until they fine and stop big rigs from being on there. Thats another story. But on the site I found this is the only patch listed. I will try to watch this thread and see if someone else is going that way.

I may have a monkey wrench thrown in any plans I had to ride up. My daughter in-law got a job offer in St Augustine/Jacksonville area. And with the way they have been packing the last week here at current house, its looking more and more like we are going to have to help them move that weekend. I'd rather ride.

Probably not. Too many pockets being lined. I cant count how many stories I have read about how it is just not a positive operation. More fuel is used to produce it than is saved basically. Because all we here in the states use to make the alcohol is corn. Other country's like Brazil I think it is use not only corn, but the stalks, husks and about anything else that will ferment. Then is becomes a viable option. Glad some voices were heard on this. Not only is it bad for all bikes, almost anything made prior to about 2010 unless it specifically says eco fuel or green fuel or whatever the heck they call them. The pcm/engine mgmt system can compensate for the crummy gas.

Hope your doin OK. So is it tunable via Bluetooth? -
Your a couple months off. Its not April 1st. Still well over 90. Leave next weekend for NC Mountains so I sure hope it is cooling off up there. Probably swing back down thru Daytona the following Sunday after we leave Savannah.

If something happens between say between June 22 and Aug 15th or so I would like to see about making it. Thats when I am off from teaching. I found a ride to Alaska I would like to do, but a little research and I'd be about $3k in on that deal.

Yea I have done that in the past. But I was looking more fore the map that showed our route ad weather along it. Rather than me having to put in 4 or 5 places along my route to figure out what weather was going to be. I knew it was to good of a thing to keep going. LOL
-
Hey guys, so we are trying to get ready for this trip. I use to have about 3 different sites you could poke in your info where your going from-to dates and it would give you a forecast along your route. Now it seems they have all discontinued this. Weather channel dont have it anymore, Wunderground, or intellicast. What the heck are you folks using? It is nice to plug in info and at least have a half way guess of what to take a week or so out to get things ready to pack. Not wait till day of to pack.

Starting to get itchy. Our trip to NC is getting much closer. Whoo hoo about a week out. Sure hope it is cooler in the Cashiers, Highlands area when we go. Looking forward to some cooler weather (I hope)

So why would a GW seat not fit the FB6? You said you had a comfy seat on your GW right?
-
Shoot, until I started reading I thought it was an FB6. V-4 water cooled, fairing etc. You sure its not a 3rd gen Venture? I think it looks unique. Certainly not the run of the mill cruiser. How are the reviews on forums etc? I knew they mad a 750 or something in that CTX format or whatever it is.

Here are a couple thoughts my co-hart instructor at class (automotive technology) and I have had. Anyone notice there are no more 5 year auto batteries? Remember the "Die Hard" battery commercials about how long they lasted? Even a 3yr battery is hard to find, most are 2yr now. Reason? With what info he came back with from a conference this last summer, lead acid type batteries are on their way out. AGM type are the way of the future, or gel types. So I would see if maybe there is a "dual charge" type available if you plan on keeping it forever like I do. Or the other option is, just get one to carry you thru for say 5yr or so and not invest a bunch of cash. I still have my tried and true 2/8 amp "Die Hard" little battery charger my wife got me some 40 yr ago now probably. Here is one I just looked up that will cover you for a very long time. About $84. Way above my allowance, but I don't know what your budgetary commissioner will allow. Or if you have a Horrible Freight close by this one is $30

I turned to TYRE (the PC program) because I was just about to blow my brains out trying to figure out Base Camp and Map source for Garmin. OH y p imblrn that stuff. The Tyre stuff makes sense, you can drag and drop the route and add stops. EZ once you fool around with it.

Here is a link to the TYRE APP for phones etc.
