  1. the spring tension is a bit tricky to adjust. I think they call it "preload" For the most part you really dont need to adjust it much I dont think. The screw does limit the hydraulic fluid flow for compression.
  2. Usually if there is an HOV lane, there will be a sign close by that will say motorcycles are OK. I will use the HOV lanes in Orlando if I'm up that way. I have also used them in several other states and so far (fingers crossed) not got hassled about it.
  3. You probably had a surface charge, enough to start it and maybe then it josseled the plates and--wa-laa no connection. Just glad you got it figured out.
  4. The Hagon is adjustable. Just not air adjustable. It has compression adjustment. I mount them so the allen screw that adjusts that is accessible from the ri side. That way when on side stand you can get at it a little easier. Yea not as easy as pumping air in it, but.......
  5. Well yes if you have a housing they will go in. Thats what I had. I swapped out the PAR 36 lamps for some ADJURE light like these. I found them for about $30 bucks or something. I ran the H-3 bulbs for awhile, but as they are Halogen and 35w or something they are a juice sucker. Then I swapped the H-3 bulbs over to some LED something like these. Also ran an HID headlight. Yammer Dan I think has a way of wiring it up so first time you hit the brake it allows the headlight to start, so you dont have to wire it up on a switch separate. Remember to, all this power has to run thru the ignition switch. Which on these bikes can cause issues down the road. Unless you run a ignition by-pass relay. I know its a selfless plug, but hey I dont want the guy to have a switch failure either. Here is a short clip explanation.
  6. The wife and I made the trip down from Savannah Sunday on I 95. Savannah had a lot of broken limbs and stuff, but actual building damage I couldnt see much. Closer we got to Jacksonville you could definatly see more big wind damage. Trees knocked over and broken. The news reports showed parts of A1A gone!!! Storm surge must have been killer. While in Savannah one night we were on the river walk and the ship docked there was way high. Next day @ low tide it had to be almost 5-6 ft lower.
  7. Most stores only check battery with a "conductance" test. It will tell you if the battery has a dead short, but thats about it. Broken plates or something it may show if they happen to be "open" at the time. Most electronic ignition systems (auto , bike what have you) need a "base line voltage" or minimum voltage to operate. The ECU has to have say 11.5 volts to "turn the brain on" to even "see" the ignition coils etc. So low voltage is a big deal on modern vehicle operation.
  8. OK so whats the status on this? Kids moved last week while we were out of town. So I may have the weekend open to ride, After getting home Sun we rode 1757 miles last week. Bet the wife aint real anxious to get back on.
  9. Silvr, I think i ran press up to 1lb under sidewall max. Rear shock @ 52psi. We are 2 up and loaded. When I saw the recomended shock press I had to look 3 times to make sure my glasses were on rite.
  10. So my 96 Dodge could run antique tags? Man Fla screwed me. They changed up the laws several years back.
  11. I dont remember the stator/alternator specs off top of my head. But the 2 driving lites @ 35w ea is 70w. Then add the 80/100w headlight I think your talking about and your up around 150w plus on just front lights. The battery is just a storage box for electricity. If it dont have the voltage to support the ecu, fuel pump, radio, lights etc it has to come from somewhere right? So say the stator is rated @ 100w if your sucking more than that its workin overtime to just keep up.
  12. Don when you get it off for grins check the date code. That sure looks like it seperated due to age. I liked the Michelin also. Had a Shinko 777 I think on rear when traded. It was good imop. But I only got 5k on it before trade. Oh and by the way, my XCT has E3 radials on it currently. Dont know if oem as bike has 27k now. But they howl like a dog in corners now like my old tires on the RSV. Just that tread pattern I guess.
  13. 2010 were some of the ones that needed the retro fit for fans to cool rider. It wasnt actually a recall per-say. Owner still had to pay something I think. If you do much traveling look @ bags too. I think they are smaller than rsv.
  14. Marine is a little more durable. But typically not as good output for same $$. I have had stereos on last 3 bikes, none have the radios been good above 45 or so. I now have sena on helmets. Before that I just wired in a plug for ear buds. I would go with automotive, they dont get that wet anyways. And for the money in 3yr or so you could replace if need be.
  15. Carful on the lighting. While it is tempting to move up to the higher output NAPA headligh or Sylvania I think it is bp 2110 or something. The stator and wiring dont fair well. Some go to HID to work around this. I went to LED replacement bulbs for H1 housings.
  16. No dampner adjustment per say on RSV/TD. Only air which would certainly change bump/compression. The valving in the shock would be the same I suspect. It looks as though your weight would be similar, maybe a tick more believe it or not. Could be a matter of bushings, oil age or a few other things.
  17. Might be a little out of the way. Try Deland and a couple surrounding areas.
  18. Have to agree on farkle and price boost not being there. If you look @ like Kelly Blue Book or NADA you can kind of see what MAY ad a few $$. But not allways. When I was looking up trade value to trade mine about all I could get that showed a boost was driver backrest and driving lights. The pegs, different windshields etc just dont add anything. The bikes came dressed out so well new just hard to add value. A private buyer will see added values as it is things he would like to add. Rest assured the dealer would be sure to point out the extras.
  19. Be sure to call ahead and make sure where you are staying is still open. Some places got hit really bad by hurricane last week. Flooded out. We are supposed to go to Savannah Friday and am hoping all is OK for our couple days there.
  20. I liked the OEM's for touring. The Harley touring mufflers are decent. Usually you can find a pair for around 40 bucks or so. I have heard that some HD dealers will let a pair go for next to nothing.

We are supozed to spend a couple days in Savannah Fri and Sat coming up. But last we heard they dont have power and looked like a lot of damage. River street was flooded etc. So have contacted our host for the place we have rented to see what the status is. If its a no go, and with 95 being shut down over that way we may have to look at alternate route home from our NC trip. Trip up was windy all the way out of Florida.
  22. Second Gens run from 99 to 2014. Way to much info available here to try and list it again. Look for rear shock leakin or pogo stick effect. They are known to go bad. Replacement thru Hagon for around $500 and about an hours work. Clutch whine on some models in 4th and 5th gear @ cruise speeds.
  23. Pretty scoot. Like that candy lookin paint job. As for a tape deck, I may have a cassette deck in a dusty box in the garage.
  24. The sound is just horrible no matter where. That was something else I researched. The Speed Pro has an external mic plug (2.5mm) So I have a 3.5mm computer mic I was fooling with for a project I didnt use. So I stopped by Radio Shack today and got a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. If I mount a mic either in my helmet I could narrate or just tape it or something by the speaker for radio sound. That was my first video I ever put together. I now have an edit program and sound editor so I could actually mute the sound of the wind.
  25. South Ga? Depends on where as they have evacuated most of the coastal areas. Traffic here in Fla on some of the major routes are crazy with traffic.
