Anyone have experience with these LED replacements
djh3 replied to Midnight's topic in Watering Hole
Dont think those PAR 36 bulbs will do you any good. Flood design so only going to show up say 15 ft. Also the color is only 42 so thats pretty dim on spectrum. On the headlight, what I have read and seen you need one that you can "adjust" the beam around so it fits your reflector best. Like most things, you get what you pay for. The Truck Light jobs do the best. But you have to refinance to afford them. ID is probably best for headlight I have seen so far. -
Here is a couple thoughts. As mentioned those bikes are notorious for one pad wearing more then the other. Swap at each oil change is good practice. Now the brake pads are a bonded type. Which means the material is sort of glued to the backing plate. Now if it get worn way down the material can get dislodged and then its metal to metal. Also the pucks are only supposed to go out so far. If all the material is gone off the backing plate, it could be just far enough the seals get out of the range they are in the bore and wa-la, leaky leaky I had my brakes fade out on me 2 up going down a mountain road. They got overheated and had not been bled in a while and must have boiled the fluid. SO a word to you would be to flush all the hydraulics every year. A few bucks and maybe an hour is worth it.

Once again I say. There should be NO life preservers @ the gene pool. If your gonna be stupid, ya gotta be tough.

Need Some Advice From Florida Members, Especially Tampa Area
djh3 replied to bongobobny's topic in Watering Hole
That area should be fine. We go over to Brandon occasionally and that whole area around there is not bad. A couple exits down is a large mall on the opposite side of I 4. If you go down Faulkenburg there is a Bass Pro shop. On 60 there by I 4 there are tons of restaurants depending on what you want. You can jump on the Selmon expressway (toll road) and it will take you to the port. We have never been out of that port, most of those cruises only go to Mexico and back. -
Drawing a blank. Unless you have a u-pull it salvage yard near by. You might be able to go search out a coin caddy or something out of a console of a car. My other thought was Radio Shack has what they call "project box" in different sizes for electronic project. With a dremel tool you could cut out one side and mount switches or something in it. Maybe try a hobby lobby or something if you got one of those. Look on e-bay for some digital amp meter or something and you would still have room for phone or mp3 player

Probably if they see you every week or 2 and you got lots of stuff they get suspicious and add the tariff. If its once in awhile, it probably more of a PIA than its worth for them.

Yea on the motorcycle side of replacement parts we are pretty well stuck. With the exception of a few bikes, we are stuck with OEM replacement stuff. And when that is exhausted....... well charge what you can get I guess. But come on 11% off a used part? Heck you can get a better deal on new stuff. I found the same dongle NEW on Amazon for $120 shipped. Oh well it aint your fault, sorry for going off the handle. LOL

WOW I went and took a peak at some of their Victory parts. They must price them from the Polaris parts listing. I looked at a bluetooth dongle they had. Their price $159 brand spanking new from Victory? $179, not much of a break for used in my book. Also a rear Dunlap E3 tire @ $179 I think it was. Shoot a new one from Motorcycle Super Store it close to that.

Yea I know some of the stuff for you all get prices jacked up pretty good. I had a buddy up there I raced online with. He needed some PC parts. Parts to him was going to be like $50 or something, He bought them had them shipped to me. Then I mailed them to him from here and it still saved him like 15 bucks. Just stupid sometimes. If you were close to the border and it was worth your time you should just pop over and pick it up and take back.

Here is a link to you tube page with some videos of the place more recently.

$40 a gallon for oil???? Wholy crap a barrel of oil is under a hundred bucks aint it? How come a $22 bottle of oil is almost twice? Ever think about ordering online?

So I have a question for these dumb @ss $15 an hour clowns. If a burger is say $6 (no fries and drink) now, and the cost for labor is 8 bucks an hour. How much do they think the owners will have to charge for the burger if labor doubles in cost? On the flip side, I make between 10-11 bucks an hour for 30 hours a week as an educator at the local college. So if Micky D's is gonna pay $15 an hour, how much will my pay go up? It has to or else I'm goin job hunting.

I'm not sure with the RSV/TD ECM. But the FJ 1200 I use to race (the engines are used in 600 racing legends cars) the "old" oem black box rev limiters were @ about 11k. What happened in fact was the limiter was 11k, but if you banged off it several times the next time it was a bit lower say by 2-300. They would drop as much as 900 rpm or so. 40 plus mph seems a bit much, but I guess it keeps the cob webs out. I didnt have a tach on my RSV so I have no idea what I shifted at, but I can tell you I wasnt banging off the chip.

horns driving me nuts!!!
djh3 replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
EZ enough to make a bracket and mount where the right side horn went. If you dont want to wire it up, I think its carbon one make a kit. I mounted my Stebel up front where the hidden horn is and just left the cover piece off. -
So it has to be baked too hub? I just bet the wife wont like that.

Yea read that also about using a different powder than the HF stuff. Guys said uneven coverage with the HF stuff, so a fellow tried some "better quality" powder and got much better results.

I have been a big fan of the "hammered" look paint. I was thinking about a project or something the other day and thought powder coating would be the way to go. But to take it to a shop well the closest for me is over 2 hours away. I know Harbor Freight use to have a powder coat gun or something. Has anyone used one and if so how did it work? Most of the reviews on their site say its OK.

Check the reviews against models of helmets. If I remember right the open face ones are possibly the ones with issues. I have a Bell Mag 9 with SENA smh10. It could use better speakers as sometimes its hard to hear music. Also if I leave the mic's on "open" the wind noise kills my ears. So I have ours set to push to talk.

A write up I saw did sa whatever that manufacture was (Toyota or Nisan I Think) was leaning the electric actuator route. To me that makes more sense also.

Shoot I had camless engines way back in the late 60's early 70's. They were called 2 strokes. LOL

Which computer? " Your computer you use". Hmm Funny it works fine. "You have a hidden virus on it and microsoft needs to fix it" Oh yea well wich computer and what version of windows? Crickets!! Hello! Which computer? I have 2 desk tops, 2 lap tops and 2 tablets so can you tell me which one has the issue? Crickets, then dial tone. I would love to be smart enough to have a virus loaded on a lap top, let them connect to it and zap them with it.

To many of these "flip" type shows around provoke idiots into ideas of large cash profits. Houses, cars bikes antique picking etc. A fellow like you or I appreciate a less than market price for what we know would be a decent vehicle. As mentioned there are folks just looking to buy rock bottom, maybe a paint job or some stickers and turn a profit of $1000 bucks by investing a couple hundred. Put your price on it. If someone meets it fine, if not is it costing you anything to keep it?
