Silver, was looking for someone else the other day and found a Vision like a 12 or 13 model and was about 10K with 30k on clock I think.

Have to agree. Sounds very close to what mine started doing. I thought pump was overheating or possible vapor lock. As mine was out of warrenty I went with an electric fuel pump. Yours is under warranty. Call dealer and tell them what happened, ask them what they might do. Maybe they will just change the pump if they are familiar with these bikes. Or ask them if it happens again what they want you to do, call them or a wrecker and if they are going to cover the cost.

YUP Welcome to my world friend. Its been HOT for what seems like months. Now its starting the rainy cycle and we need it dont get me wrong. But day after day. I have not even rode to work (8mi round trip) but a couple days since our last meet and eat. Every weekend seems to be loaded with stupid projects not of my doing. Today I get the question of what would you like to do. "I dunno I aint even finished my 1st cup of coffee yet". Then comes the we need to clean the carpet in living room, wash clothes, clean the tile floor yada yada. Sooooo I have a choice??? Next 2 weekends are clogged up with family junk, then we will probably have a hurricane or something fouling up the mess. So I feel with ya brother.

Back when I was maybe 5 (I'll say prior to 1962 lol) My brother was stationed in Tampa in the USAF. He had an old BSA maybe 500cc Might have been a one lunger I forget. But he rode that thing from Tampa to Detroit. That was before they even invented interstate. LOL Duffle bag and Levis jacket. Another year I was stationed out in Oklahoma and I get a phone call on morning. It's my brother, and a couple of his work mates. They had been layed off during production change, so he thought it sounded like a good idea for a road trip. He was living in Detroit at the time. He was west of Amarillo when he called. Hey can we swing by visit a day or so. Sure no problem. He and his buddies show up and the biggest bike between the 3 was a 750 Honda 4. I fully enjoy my bells and whistles and comforts.

Found a Screw in my back tire... Change the tire or patch it?
djh3 replied to Chaharly's topic in Watering Hole
AS mentioned plug is a temp fix. I had a brand new like 1000 mile tire on my RSV and caught something to the left of center and the cut was large and in the grooves. I felt it was to close to the side wall to get a proper repair. If yours is fairly centered a well installed patch will serve well. I also carry a plug kit with me. If I would not have had it with me when I got the flat I would have had to call a wrecker $$$$. Bottom line proper patch would be acceptable to me. -
I dont dirt track my 800#+ bike so rocks in the belt not likely. Squeaks yea, adjustment keep longevity. Just like changing the gear oil. Pros and cons both ways I guess. I dont have a problem with either one, you just have to know what your getting in for. Shaft has a bit of clunk and slack like in turns when not under power, my belt dont seem to have that issue. I do find it odd the 3rd gen is not water cooled. I would have thought emissions would have driven it that way to get head temps up for emissions. I wonder how hot them cats/exhaust will get. Thats the biggie on the XCT. I have discon the O2 sensors on mine and it seems to help a bit.

I will go take a gander in tool box. Pretty sure got some of those biggins in there -
Been to busy messing around tonight to go to Victory site, but can only imagine. LOL Polaris shut down Victory bike just like this one. OMG Yamaha probably to deep into production when plug got pulled on Victory.

Let us know how you like the Voyager. I was close to that when I bought my RSV. At that time though Kawi had not yet owned up to the heat issue. They later fixed it and retro fitted the earlier bikes. Like 2011 or so. Also if the emissions stuff has been um ah modified it may help the engine heat too. The XCT Victory are that way. Take CATs out and engine temp goes down significantly. Join the Kawasaki.org forum I think it is and there are some guys that have good info.

Old inner tubes, heater hose or vaccum tubing. I think rubber works best. I had to shim up my cup holder.

WOW those have come down by $100 since I looked last time. I had a similar issue a few years back. Made a trip over 3500 miles from Canada home to Fla. A day or so later went to start bike and got click clunk, then nothing. Main fuse was corroded, the connector block right by that and cleaned the connectors at the battery, solenoid and grounds. All good after that. There is a few write ups around about cleaning your switch which is worth the effort. If that bombs and the $160+ is to pricey, shoot me a note. I make the by pass relays for the RSV and have a few guys running a complete switch by pass thru an automotive type switch if your game to fabricate a little.

I am now looking at a couple systems that are a bit less money than the FOBO. One had a TPMS like autos, but that would mean dismount tires to install. ARGH The other is $25-30 less and uses valve caps also as the sensor. But it is a China sold giz mo, so dont know how much I like that. Hard to believe the GW only has a idiot light and the theory is get off your but and you figure it out. LOL

FJ works kind of like that http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2749/4503124189_9018520744_o.jpg

My RSV had the E3 on it when I bought it. Few month in I was rounding some corners and heard this whine/roar sound. Read tire sides cupped. My new to me Victory last year when I bough it had the radial flavor E3. Same deal roar in corners. So for me 2 out of 2 was enough. On the Victory this time I found some Continental Milestones. So far so good. Whatever you get try to get a "reinforced" tire.

My bro-inlaw had avalanch things with tpms. Fine for first 5-6 years. Then at least once a year he had to get some replaced, or would have to do the hat dance thing to reset them and hope light went out. Now they are making them so you have to take it to someone that has a hand held or scan tool to reset. Because that is more user friendly.

Like I said, I have a high dollar race gauge. Racequip or intercomp I think, from when I worked on race cars. The pencil gauges I wouldnt use to check my lawn mower. I am using an accurite digital kind of like this one. I know on a bike we want something small and compact. But here is an article on the "best" gauges.

Ignition Switch Removal
djh3 replied to bongobobny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Center punch and drill out like a rivet. Then you need I think they are 4mm screws to go back in. the bottom ones are phillips. -
I can assure you the hook looking tool is correct for the RSV. There are edges on the tool that just catch the edge of the valve bucket to compress it. You then need a magnet to remove the shim.
-
Actually mechanical gauges are not that accurate unless calibrated. Drop or bang it a couple times and it can be out as much as 3-5 lbs. I have a little digital job, but getting into and under the bags on the Vic is more of a PIA then the RSV was for some reason. I have $150 race air gauge and it still has to be corrected occasionally.

I liked the Michelin Commander 2. No howl 15-20k or more for me. I also needed a tire on the budget one time for the RSV. I went with a Shinko. Also very good traction, but I traded a few thousand miles (5) later. But it showed very good wear.
