Had lunch with BlueBeard today and he mentioned that. Congrats, that area up there can be nice and laid back. Nice riding over around Chiefland and the coast.

Except Joe is closed until like 20 August. -
That is a good tire. I ran 2 on my 2nd gen. Well technically one. The first one only went like 1500 miles before it got KO'd by something. I did a road side plug and was going to dismount and patch, but didnt feel comfortable with the way the cut was. And hey for $80 bucks or so you dont feel robbed getting a new one to feel safe. They are also a reinforced tire If I'm not mistaken.

Glad all worked out. Yea my son has a Scion TC. Its on the 3rd or 4th alternator and its an 05. The car has always had a problem if it sits 3 weeks the battery will be dead as a door-nail. Toyots swapped 2 batteries under warranty. That alt is low down in front. It's a 4cy not to bad a little finagling. Like I said the Venza was a PIA, but we did a corolla or something and it was rite up front.

It finally Happened. 1st mechanical breakdown.

I'll say it was "awhile back". My records show probably end of 2014. I didnt have an exact date of when I shipped it. I did explain it was a "wired" connection not bluetooth rite? It has to be plugged into the bike. If your place is like mine, it's about 3 layers down. Glad you got back running. -
Spray ur up with some carb cleaner. See if you can get some in the small passages. Maybe give it a shot and see if it will run off just some gas or carb spray to get the vacuum flowing. My thought the other day was same as Dans. A fellow should be able to figure out how to retro fit a carb to it.

Electrical Trouble Shooting Results/Help

What I find in the Service manual is across the 3 white wires @ stator should be between .279-.341 @ 65 deg. Now when in heck your going to get 68 degree weather I dunno. Also says you should be getting 14v dc @ 5k RPM for charge. It certainly sounds like you got a bad battery or it ran long enough on the battery power and the alternator cant keep up. How old is the battery? Not 100% sure, but stator wont OHM back to battery on either lead because it has to "see voltage" to open the regulator me thinks. -
Man if I was up in your area for the summer while school was out we could have worked something out. Maybe you can find someone to work a day or 2 part time "contract" and then "the company" pays them on a 1099. None of that unemployment and work comp stuff to worry about. they pay their own taxes etc. If you dont take care of you, who will?

OMG Snyper I aint seen one of those in decades. I did have the Vista cruise I think it was on my 900 Vulcan. For what they are they work great to get your wrist a little rest period on longer trips.
-
Hmm EFI on a yard mower motor. So say what do they use for a fuel pump? Is it pumping fuel? Decent pressure.
-
On a whim, look thru the bags and trunk and see if maybe there is a key floating around in there, maybe under the carpet. Mine you had to push down on cap when you unlocked it to get it to actually unlock and let the catches disengage.
-
Mine has velcro on it you wrap around the grip. But still does same thing. I love mine, its been on 3 bikes now. Even with a cruise its nice. You can just rest the heel of your hand on it and not grip so hard. Some guys will run them on the left side also.

You should be OK. It may run ruff for a little bit relearning and resetting. I have no idea where the alternator is located. They put they wherever they fit best before the engine goes in. We had a buick suv of some sort and we had to disconnect 2 motor mounts to get tilt in engine to clear a frame rail.
-
Sounds like an Alt. Sometimes they will make more noise when the volt reg go bad. I guess its the drag on it or something. Just before school let out we had one of the teachers bring in a Toyota suv. We checked it out the first day and charged up her battery so she could drive home. Next day she brought it back for us to change the alt (flat rate was like 3.5 hours) When she brought it back it had a loud whurr. Depending on how old battery is it may have taxed it. You'll find out this winter first cold snap. Probably what went on is it ran as long as voltage was above the required minimum. Then as voltage drops the PCM needs consistent voltage and when it starts to vary It freaks out and starts shutting down non-essential stuff. Radio, a/c fans lights start to blink, dash can flash all sorts of stuff.

I am leaning that way if I replace my old lap top I'm using right now. It has XP on it. Kind of slow and clunky. But hey its like 12 years old or something.

2018 Star Venture Owners Manual
djh3 replied to Du-Rron's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Why in the blue blazes would anyone design an engine now days without fully hyd valve train?? That there is just plain stupid. And add insult to injury 15k on the adjustment? Thats gonna end up being a yearly deal for most. Tires, well a lot of that is how an individual rides. Some of the Victory guys get no miles while others get 8k or more. I dont get the premium gas either. Compression ratios have ben low for years so why lately bikes need hi test I dunno. My Victory is suposed to run 91 but Im lucky to remember and put mis grade. -
I can give you a bit of experience info here on a V-Twin air cooled. My 900 Vulcan although a smaller displacement was water cooled, but no lowers. The lowers like on the RSV and Victory trap heat and only way to get it out is make air flow past it. The RSV does a good job, I never really got the heat I get from the XCT. Guys with the big Ijuns say the same thing. The lowers trap the heat. Now I have vents, but it just does not seem to evacuate the heat good. Better off taking them off the bike in summer is what I hear.

Some of this kind of stuff is just silly. If your a bad guy and want to come into the US to do harm, do you really think they are going to cross at a boarder? There are 10's of thousands of miles of unprotected board to just drive across. Heck its done daily down south. They were doing a Passport Card also that was going to be good for flying in/out of Canada and the cruiseship routes. I guess if you were in and out in a few days or something. I quit traveling for work so it didnt matter anymore.
-
OK I'll pack that in the memory banks to forget later. LOL I should remember this kind of stuff. I expect my students too.
-
OK just incase I'm reading this wrong or something. You are connecting to negative cable discon from battery and then test light to negative terminal on battery rite?
-
Couple different ways to go about this. If only using a test light hook it up inline with either battery lead. IE clip to battery negative and the point tight with cable end so light is in line. Turn key on and see if light is on, turn key off and light should go out. Bad part about this way is the entire draw has to run thru the poor test light and if its a large one it will fry the light. Amp meter is best way, but still need to remove fuse for carb heat as it is a mother of a electrical hog at times. Shouldnt be on as hot as it is, but ya never know. I dont know i maybe a burned up/failed voltage regulator could cause a battery drain like this. I know we use to have problems with internal regulators on cars with a regulator go bad and drain battery.

Rear Tire Safe or not.

When I saw the sidewall I thought maybe a few miles. When I saw the rest of it. NO WAY -
Polaris aint looking so stupid now are they? LOL They dumped Victory which was all big bikes, no sporty models per say all bagers for the most part sans the judge and couple others. They basically cut their losses and went with Indian. They have the scout to come in as their "entry level" bike like a sporty. I read an article a few days back that stated 2 of the highest selling bikes in the US were the Bolts and Kawasaki 900 Vulcan I think they still call it. You see the 20 somethings on the break your back sport bikes, but as they grow up they like something more comfy and go with the Bolt/Sportster/900 Kawa Now will any of those folks fill in where we exit and buy a touring bike? I dunno, as was stated they like this auto drive, Bluetooth, all the conveniences of home stuff. And exposed to the elements is probably not their bag. HD has been saturating the market with ez loans and lots of bikes for several years. It was bound to catch up.

Them ol boxer motors are about as reliable as they come. My brother had a 900 of some sort back in heck 70? It was an ex-miami police bike and had 60k or more on it when he got it. He rode it another 5 or 6 years and put another 60k+ on it. Bounce on by the Beemer site and see what them guy say they are getting. But if I recall the bikes of that vintage are about like the Venture. Many miles and many smiles.
