I got a little better miles out of the 777 vs the tourmaster. But the longest mileage tire I ran was a Michelin Commander 2. Over 15k. But they were pricey then and I havent looked one up for my Vic.

WE had to service the aircraft tires with nitrogen per tech data. Reason was because it was "dry" and not as subject to pressure differences. AS Ours were cargo aircraft and potentially be in say Texas in the morning and a few hours later be in Alaska, less difference is best. Racers do use it because it stays more stable and is more predictable on pressure gain thus compression rate while cornering. On a road car, my 2c not worth it. Especially since TPMS came around.

So how full is the oil level. My experience with the RSV was half way up window was all it wanted. Anything more and it would find places to blow out. Usually the air boxs fill up.

2 things to try. Reinsert tool and fidgit with it and see if you can get it to drop in. Or rotate the engine by hand and see if it sets in.

Good for you. 30+ years ago I quit. I had been sick with flu or something, had me out for about 4 days. When I felt well enough to venture to living room one day I picked up one and said its been a few days wonder if I can go a few more. Had about 3/4 of a pack and took it with me to work (I was in the USAF) I gave the rest of the pack away thru the week and that was it.

Man if its on a weekend give me a shout. WE recently moved up this way. We are just south of St Augustine. We ran down to Ormond Sunday for breakfast.

If your talking a bag to put on top of trunk, be careful. I think the rack is only recommended 10lb. Plus weight up there is bad, makes even more top heavy. When we did use it I put rain gear up there and clothes in saddle bags. Now I added a hitch a few years back and got what they call a cooler rack and put bag with clothes down there so weight is lower. With a big ole bag of clothes on the trunk lid getting in there during any stops is a PIA. This is from when I had to work for about 3 weeks and carry a bunch of work gear also.

Same here. Boss isnt going for the no plumbing, walk to the can thing anymore. And I have to say a nice shower at the end of the day with out a walk about is nice.

While modern tech has made most vehicles more reliable, it has also taken the "I'll work on it" aspect away for a lot of folks. Some of the electronics like cars have made DIY stuff impossible. Most bikes need a manufacture specific scan tool to really get the low down on whats going on. Unlike the automotive industry, government didnt think it necessary to make motorcycle manufacture all use a standard diag program, Like OBD2

So who built the fire truck? LeFrance or E One or one of those. I cant believe they built a one off emergency vehicle.

Indians new bikes are going away from the 60's styling they were trying to sell like the roadmaster. This is basicly a challenger with trunk I think. Probably more goodies. I have recently had electrical gremlins on the Vic and am considering a change in rides. Unfortunatly not much choice out there if you want a bagger. Indian (but after they stiffed us Victory guys......) well I dont think I'll share my money with them. A HD or a Wing. I'm kind of leaning towards if I have to make a change probably a HD (ugh) Does it look that different?

A few times we have went up to Daytona for Bike week and test rode new bike for kicks. A couple years back Blue Beard and I went up and got to ride the "new ventures". So today I got email from Yamaha telling of their test ride line up. Now where in it is a touring bike folks. FJR, Tenere Bolts stuff like that and oh yea crotch rockets. Sad day.

You can replace the switch, no problem. They do have anti-tamper screws holding them. But it isnt to bad of a job to R&R the switch. However then you will have one key for ignition and one for bags. Now if you can find an OEM switch, heven knows.

Trying to remember what pressures I ran. Its been several years. But I think I ran about 36-38 psi on the rear solo. About 5 to 65k is what I kind of averaged on the Shinkos on the rear.

WOW look at the size of that TV. I run the GPS on the right and the Phone on the left. But I dont usually mess with either one under way.

Rear Diff oil, should it look like this?
djh3 replied to circa1968's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did a Diff service many years ago on a Chevy. I was actually doing a fluid check and when I pulled my finger out it was like EWWE. Dropped cover and back side of cover actually had rust forming. Mud daubers had clogged up the vent -

I would suspect the vent is where your getting water in. There probably at one time a piece of foam like material in it to keep crap out like dirt. They have a tendancy to deteriorate over time and then its pretty much free flow. If it does not vent, they build pressure and will blow out the seals. If you are not showing any drips, I would say the seal is OK. Depending on how old the fluid is, it could be just old and moisture gets trapped in there over time and fluid will look like that. Run some dino gear lube for a few hundred miles or more. I think I would go maybe at least 500 and drain a little and see what some looks like drained in a solo cup or something. Once you get a good sample put some synthetic in it and let er rip. -
Looking for Lift Adapter
djh3 replied to ken c's topic in Links to Classifieds, Craigslist, Ebay, Sales, Etc.
I built one for the RSV. I still use it on the Victory with a slight addition of some spacers. I suppose you could fabricate one out of wood. -
You got to be kidding. A parts store didnt have a freakin 5 pin relay? Pop the top off the relay and see if its burned on the contacts. You could clean them up for temporary use. But Amazon will probably have out one as quick as your parts store. This parts store thing is nuts. I have a bad water pump on my wifes 5.7 Durango, pretty common car right? Parts store had to order the O rings for a water pipe that goes into the water pump.

Standard Bosch type 30/40 amp relay. Available at auto parts store. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/standard-ignition/lighting---electrical/relays/accessory-relays/accessory-relay/09b63088360c/standard-ignition-5-terminal-multi-purpose-relay/std0/ry1770/v/a/97145/automotive-suv-2011-dodge-durango?pos=0 This one is pricey, but you get the idea rite?

Navigation System Updates
djh3 replied to American's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Very few on board built in Nav systems I know of are worth a darn. I have/had connection with a Dodge dealer. My cost would be over $300 to upgrade the maps on a 2011 Durango. My connection who worked there had a 2 or 3 year old pick up and his cost was the same. I have heard similar with the Fords and Honda I think. So why doesnt any of these OEM get with Garmin or Tom Tom and make these things easier to update? Because they feel they would loose some market $$ because DIY folks would figure it out and cut them out is my guess. -
I had some custom jobs from work radios. Heck probably 10 years ago now and with the "discount" Racing Radios gave us my cost was still $130 or 150. For me the in ear monitors work well and the sound quality is pretty darn good. Better than my 150 buck ones.

Bell Mag 9 3/4 style mostly. I wear glasses also, but the bows on my sunglasses are bigger so we had to modify the ear foam to not bind the glasses up and give me a headache

I switched from standard ear buds to "in ear monitors". For a little more comfortable fit you can custom ear mold them with this stuff. An d some help off you tube with "custom in ear monitor" I think this is the video one I used
