Nice color. My 09 RSV was the red, but I like that cranberry color better I think. Sometimes we just want to see what else is out there. Enjoy heck as long as your riding your among friends.

Good luck. I was in a similar situation a couple years back. Company changed some inspection processes and downsized. I was out of work for about year and half. @ 57 here anyways kind of hard to find something that payed decent and I wanted to do. Like was mentioned I ended up doing something I would have never thought of before that. I would still like to get back to Motorsports, but at 61 I dont see that happening.

So can someone tell me what size of resistor? And why? I would think the grips would have some kind of controller to limit the power.

I forget what all models they use to make in KC. But now it says V-rod , which has not been a huge seller for HD and reportedly been on chopping block. The Sportster which I think they also make in another plant and a Dyna. I thought I read something back a year or so ago that they were scaling back production at that plant anyways. May have something to do with tax incentives running out too.

The pop on decell could be from the AIS "smog" system. Sometimes when blocked off they get a leak and pop, because it basically is part of the exhaust and pumps some of that wir into the intake. There are ways to disconnect it if it is not already. The driving/passing lights can take a PAR 36 bulb if incandescent (sealed beam) If its a bulb that goes into a housing its probably a H3. There are some LED bulbs that work, the same bulb goes in the Harley lights. While your poking around the passing lights find out if they wired thru a relay. That thing should rool @ 80 mph without even breathing hard.

Harley mufflers back to stock?
djh3 replied to B.E. Coyote's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My mileage went down. LOL Cause I just liked to hear it cackle on the throttle. But when driven normal no difference. I shipped a pair to a fellow in NM I think it was and it ran me about $40 from here in Fla. When I was looking for them I could find them for that or less sometimes. If you found someone local or not to far just work out a swap. I did that with the last pair I had. I liked the sound around town, but long trips for me just had to much drone. -
Has anyone read the link I posted in this thread? What or how do you read it? I read it as not required for a motorcycle. I sure as heck would call and find out. I think your reading something into , or getting the run around. "Currently, smog inspections are required for all vehicles except diesel powered vehicles 1997 year model and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs, electric, natural gas powered vehicles over 14,000 lbs, motorcycles, trailers, or gasoline powered vehicles 1975 and older."

Hmm this sounds a stupid as a screen door in a submarine. What keeps someone from just getting a side cover with the sticker for that year and presenting it. Holy crap the bike qualifies for antique tags for crips sake. Hell Id got get a PO box at the first town over the boarder and register it there. Heck send me the money to register it and paperwork and I'll let you use my address here in Fla.

I was going to chime in on the start and go thing. Wont be long and all gas powered stuff will be that way. One way to beat it is go F250. You ditch the mouse motor, the start and go thing. Bad part is cost a bit more, but I think your resale may be a bit better on the back end. OR you mentioned the company kind of traps you on 3-5 years vehicle age. Look at Off lease only.com. They have cars just off lease 1 or 2 years old for thousands less. I'm really considering it, I can pick up a F250 with under 20k miles for about 38k

I looked at some toy haulers last weekend that were that much. And they had a crapper and A/C. LOL Tampa RV show was awsome.

Yup I pegged it for a Gutzi also. Took m a minute or 2. -
This is what I found. Does my vehicle qualify for a smog exemption?Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is: Gasoline powered 1975 year model or older Diesel powered 1997 year model and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs Electric Natural gas powered with a GVWR rating of more than 14,000 lbs. Motorcycle So from what I see your in the clear. CA DMV site Look second section down.

I have been shopping 3/4 and 1 tons. The Titan has the lowest tow capacity of any of the 3/4. Dont know if that makes any difference to you or not. Not suprised the Ford won out on that link that was posted. I love my old cummins, but its a single cab and really could use a crew or super cab at minimum.
-
Looks like you can move snow with it too. Like most things, some TLC goes a long way on equipment.

Have a cousin that has a F 150 thats prob 4 or 5 years old now with the 3.5 turbo. They pull a fith wheel and have been all over with that thing and far as I know no issues. I like Fords cabs also. GMC and Chevy same truck. They roll down the same line and just put whatever decal on them. GMC think their stuff is worth more and usually outfitted a bit nicer from what I have seen. I drive currently a 96 Ram 2500 cummins. Im not but 5'6" so leg room aint a issue for me. But I like the Dodges in the half ton as you can get a small displacement deisel that get decent milage. Toyota looks just like a Ford to me now. Nissam big v8 motor truck makes gobs HP but fuel mileage is the lowest of the half tons.
-
I was working in a Dodge dealership, we got a TSB to not use fram filters on the cummins as they had come apart and caused oil pressure loss and bearing/engine failure. I had heard some bad instances before that of Fram and stopped using them years before. My go to is Wix, purolator, mobil 1 are decent also.

New Guy and Possible Defector
djh3 replied to crossbowme's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Yea some of us got no sense. I went to a Victory Tourer, Others have went to a GW or HD. WE still hang out and trade info. -
I have one of them fancy side by side with drawer under those and lower freezer Samsung. Would not buy another. It has been noisier than my old Kenmore since day one. When it drops a load of ice in the bin it sounds like an avalanche. For the big bucks it was new sure not worth it. I have not had to do any repairs, but the fancy display on the door has digits that no longer work. A little research goes a long way. I have been researching dishwashers and a couple other appliances my self.

I am now teaching in a automotive tech class, and can tell you there is NO WAY we tell guys increasing the AMP rating on a fuse is an acceptable repair for a circuit. It is supposed to be a 15a fuse, thats what those wires, connectors etc are expecting to see. When a customers vehicle is not operating correctly after the repairs ait is a "come back". It happens, but a tech dont want those to become habitual. Sounds like an inexperienced or possibly lazy guy got the job.

Barons Rear Lowering kit Travel Change
djh3 replied to grubsie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hmm makes me do thinkin. Which can hurt me. But it only stands to reason if you lower the bike on the suspension by X, the travel will be reduced. I think it is changed because you have to have the remount bracket for the rear caliper. -
I had a brand spanking new Shinko. I had like 1000 miles or less on it. Got a 3/4" or so cut right in the tread. I also thought it was to close to the sidewall for my comfort. I could have patched it, but once off I didnt like the angle and length. It happened about 20 miles from home. I had a plug kit with me and plugged it. I also think given a choice I'll patch vs plug if possible.

What??? A battery that cant hold a charge for a month?

Problematic issue. You can try navel jelly and see if that works. Clear coat will help, but the minute you put a socket on there its going to chip off the clear. Powder-coat does same thing. They do make some "no mar" type sockets that help.
