Anyone have experience with these stators?

Am I missunderstanding this. Your gonna pack this with you for a trip "just in case". Man you must carry a whole bunch more tools than I ever do. -
Throttle Position Sensor

My 89 GT Mustang would "cycle" at idle. TPS was a little off and adjustment was all used up. The mount has slightly elongated holes. I used a small rat tail file and made the slots a tick longs and it was enough to get it in the window. Otherwise you'll have to change it. -
Bike maintaining day for me!

Sidewall of tire shouldnt make any difference. But you sure dont want it on any tread area. We are going over to the air show @ MacDill Saturday. -
Yea and you have to remember they have a straight cut and slash cut end. Different part numbers, and I have no idea which what number is for what style. I liked the slash cut on my RSV, because they looked different from the OEM mufflers.

If I remember right, to me the horn work sort of azz backwards. It has power all the time and the switch connects the ground. So relay has to be wired so ground is making thru relay. Are you grounding the horn body itself?

65538-09 & 65846-10A Part # for 09 later FLH mufflers. 06 had cats unless it was a Calif bike. Then as early as 04 I think could have cats. After 07 they put the cat in head pipes because everybody was just buying muffler and installing them right off showroom floor.

Here's my take on the tire bead wear that someone was asking about....
djh3 replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
First set of wheels on my 900 I used beads. Those were tube tires. What a PIA to get the beads in that valve area. So when I got tubeless tires I just pour them in the tire and seat it up. That whole trying to get in the valve core thing is crazy. Plus add in it has a 90 deg on it and it is dang near impossible. Got a TPM ready to install and a new Shinko 777. But the monitor will not thread on the valve stems I have. Guess they are a off size. So I ordered the T-valve from FOB so I can add air without pulling the cap thing off. I guess they are on a slow boat from Malaysia. -
The Indians just dont do nuttin for me. I dont really care for all the chrome. dont like the frilly things off the bags, seat floorboards etc. I get the nostalgia thing but it aint my bag. If the bags would have been bigger in a Vision I would have one of those in the garage. I like the styling of the Gen3. Partially because it breaks away from the "old school" HD type template. but they is way outa my price league so I'll just keep riding the XCT.

Just about any low pressure fuel pump will work. I used a Mr Gasket. Here is a write up on what I did. There are some other 5-7 psi pumps I forget what the flow needs to be like 5 gph or something, it aint much. but size becomes an issue with some so I went with this one.

Yup that would work to. Being your changing out anyways. I usually can reuse the beads a couple times before I think I have lost enough to matter. -
WHY air cooled....
djh3 replied to Mad Dog's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Some HD folks have went this route. Love Jugs cooling -
Man $31 bucks for points? Get a pointless pump to replace.

Well even if you bought the newest super zoomy model for this year and paid the almost 1k they want for it. Next year it will be old tech. So as long as the 590 has what you think is good, thats all that matters. Shoot I'm running an old 765T that was a refurb job.

WHY air cooled....
djh3 replied to Mad Dog's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Well to be truthful, Harley only cools the Cyl head. From some of the info I have read the cooling of the head helps them get the combustion where they want it. Victory had it pretty dang good. Mine is hot when its 90+ out if you get hung up and stand still. Last year on a trip north the wife and I got stuck in a jam up on I 75. It was a lot of heat off the engine for sure, but when we got rolling 5 min later or so no worse than anything else I have rode I suppose. I hear some reports of the Indian being hot and heat radiating. But the Kawasaki Voyager is all water cooled (jackeded cylinders) and folks b!tc# about the heat on those. I mean heck the old VW's were air/oil cooled and ran great. -
I have a pair of those that are on the second bike. I pulled them from the RSV when I traded it off. I pieced mine together off e-bay. There are some knock offs available. But I went with the "real" ones. Well about 2 years on the RSV and I noticed the chrome peeling on the front. Of course that dont get any better with time. So when I swapped to the Vic I took them apart and used an abrasive pad to get the loose junk off I could and painted them a black chrome looking. Now the chinese clamps I bought to use chrome looks great. Go figure. Just not impressed with the high cost of the Kuryakin and the por quality a year or so.

Easy to get beads out. I use the vacuum. Got one of those shark jobs. Break bead, tilt bead and suck them up. Can holds them no beads on floor. I gave up trying to get them buggers thru the valve core hole also. I just seat the bead, break down one side and pour them in. Then it is fairly easy to seat just one bead. -
So decided on a TPMS that had a separate display. Here is why. The APP thing while convenient for some, my phone aint always out in site what pressures are what, and if it did start to alarm why? Pressure under? Or over? Still a cap read type deal but I have read bunches of threads on these things now and for the most part any failure has been the battery in xmitter go bad. So display is about 1.5" square, should be easy to tuck away. Now to my problem. Last tire change on the Victory I put some 90 degree valve stems in. The dang thread for the cap is completely different from a standard schrader valve so the sensors will no go on. I tried regular valve caps when I first got them and no go, I though something wrong with them so I just went to the ones that came with valves. So now I am going to have to change the valve stems to make all this work. Shoot the T-type vavle stems I had to get were almost as much as the TPMS.

Ya know funny they dont post signs goin into that foreign country about the use of white helmets. They have signs about other traffic laws. Besides who needs a drivers licence. They have on the news here weekly about people in wrecks and they aint got no stinking licence.
-
So now after a few years, the area where I grab it to put on and off are kind of dirty from hand oils and dirt. Rumor has it California a white half helmet is illegal if not frowned upon by the law man.

Spot/flood LEd's on the RSV. Where to mount?
djh3 replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Easy enough to make a bracket and mount by calipers. Mine had small clamps and were mounted off crash bars by highway pegs. -
Yea the tube type tire where a suck point. But I bet now a pair of the cast alum can be had fairly cheap. I did change the stator, it is a fairly easy job. Ricks makes a good replacement. You would think by now Kawasaki would have sorted that out.
