  1. Hard to see a motorcycle, especially when your nose is in your cell phone.
  2. I can sort of feel for ya as a brother tech. Sometimes we get our mitts in somewhere the really should t be. When I was in the USAF I was out on the flight line in winter. Cold around 20's, I had to safety wire (lock wire) some heat shield around an exhaust duct. Well couldnt do it with gloves on so had to go bare handed. Had a piece wrapped and went to grab it to lock pliers on and gave the twist pliers a couple pulls. Went to reach down to grab dikes to cut off and my hand was wired thru the web by your thumb to the duct. Never felt it til later that day when my hand warmed up. Not as bad as loosing a tip for sure. Hope it heals up fast for ya.
  3. Also a new electrical problem brewing. (red things)
  4. Wouldnt be the first time they manufactured parts off shore. Anyone remember the AMF days?
  5. Probably not. I would also think that thing could induce a wobble at some speeds. If it was you highway speed that would suck.
  6. On my PC I have folders by subjects for the most part. Then I have a "download" folder which is where my phone pics go. But that is a hot mess. All the pics on the phone have like a 8 digit code for a name. So you have to go in and change that.
  7. Looks like a belt splice. Where the belts in the carcass are overlapped-joined
  8. I have had to put the wind sock things on every miv I have had. Really cant say I have noticed the difference whit any of the things I have tried. A piece of like 1/2" heat shrink with a hole cut in it over the mic probably works as well as the ones I bought a guy "guaranteed" me would solve the woosh. LOL
  9. Sure looks sporty'er than the ole Mini trail 70 I rode some on at my friends.
  10. I think the "switch" is a sealed unit. So no cleaning. Just my guess. Secondly, if its a voltage drop below a threshold, what if you had a battery charger or jumpers on it from a good battery. Wouldn't that eliminate the voltage drop?
  11. Man I wish school would have been out a week earlier.
  12. Sorry about that. I try hard though.
  13. Probably not the bike to start with. You would have better luck stating with a tour deluxe. As mentioned lots of electronics in the fairing. Radio, intercom, CB, plus tons of wiring for lights and some other things. Then the leg fairing have more goodies in them like relays and fuses for things and cruise control electronics. But its your dime. If you wanted a stripper bike should have maybe looked at a stratoliner.
  14. Reliable scoot for the most part. Some had a whine that reportedly is from the clutch basket. The ones that I have dealt with were ones that had towed trailers. There is a fix for it also. I wouldnt say its a common as the fuel pump quitting.
  15. Oh my thats ugly. Now I aint the greatest electrician by any stretch of the imagination. But I have come a long way. No more scotch locks allowed in any of my wires.
  16. So if it is triked, and you all have determined the tip switch is not required/needed. Why not if the resistor allows it to run, just clip wires and solder it in or make connectors that plug in and use it instead of the bad switch?
  17. Well I'm glad it worked out for you. Especially as close to the centerline as you were in that one spot. I have rode it a couple times. But this pic is what I remember from my last time up there. First corner heading north from Deals Gap. Pic is not me, but same situation. NO room for error. http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/attachments/fz6/122788d1178583261-deals-gap-pics-killboy-don_truck.jpg
  18. I ran a pair on my 900 Vulcan. They seemed fine. But maybe because it was a lighter bike or something.
  19. I have tried to leave ours in the voice activation. But the background noise seems to keep them active all the time. So I have them set up push to talk. Otherwise the music wont play. I had same issue on the J&M on the RSV, I had to put mic mutes in with a button. That and someone dont understand about having the mic close to their mouth to cut back on side noise.
  20. Hmm It reads a map like my Wife.
  21. Ooops I failed to realize the OP was in the land of our northern neighbors. Seems all petro chemicals are expensive up there.
  22. Hmm Far as I have experienced there is like a long and a short. Pretty sure the shorts will work in either, but longs only fit in longs. Just run by the local tire store or dealership. If they aint got a passel full you can have for nothing I'd be surprised. We always had a bunch by the tire machine.
  23. Well for a helmet they have this option. But I have a Mag 9 and it takes a bracket that is specificaly for the mag 9 and it does not stick out like it would on a regular helmet. This may be one of the write ups I looked over. https://www.theridingobsession.com/wiring-speakers-headphones/ I may have something else on the other PC also.
  24. I would recommend scanning or making copies of your receipts. Most are thermo paper and 6 weeks or so down the road you cant read them. Shell Rotella T6 fully synthetic oil with a JASMO rating and about $20 a gallon. My second choice is Mobil 1 T40 is the 10w40. I had use the V Twin 20w50 in the RSV also in summer when I was going to make a long distance trip. I still use the Rotella in the V-Twin Victory. No need for $12+ quart oil in my world.
  25. Dont remember exactly where I hung it off of. But it was lower right hand side under floorboard.
