Leaving Sat AM to visit a friend in Highlands NC area for a week. We have not been in like 3 years, we cant wait.
-
PHEW It exited just south of Daytona I think. But we got a lot of rain and constant wind for a day and half. Finally has slowed down wind wise and the rain has slacked off as of 8 pm EST.
-
LOL Thats usually how it goes for us past few years. Its almost as warm there as here in Fla. Then we leave and next day shazamm its fall.
-
It is a slow mover. It has rained here since about 5 AM and so far about 3 inches. But we are supposed to get up to 24"
-
Hey I resemble that remark. We will be heading up the week of 8th. We stay east of Highlands with a friend.
-
Gainesville should be OK. Its going to turn a little more early and East. Kind of towards to Daytona. And my house. LOL
-
I'm still around. Still making a few of these a year. I think I have got back to those who have contacted me.
-
I think what you could be looking for is my plug N play by pass ignition harness. It redirects the power thru a relay instead of across all the contacts in the switch.

Wow nice turn out. Where did it start. I am still doing pre-trip maintenance on mine.

2005 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe
djh3 replied to JonathanELC's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You can usually pick up a pair of OEM Harley mufflers (with no cat) for about $50 or less. Some have said local HD shops will almost give them away. For me, I didnt mind them around town, but on the long highway trips they were to loud for me. -
M61A1MECH can make you up a lightbar for the back. He built me one for my RSV, also my Victory. And he has done them for GW too.

Its a bit pricey for me. But maybe this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Z6PBRBG/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?pf_rd_p=3481f441-61ac-4028-9c1a-7f9ce8ec50c5&pf_rd_r=A1B853CAZV31V4DEMAHF&pd_rd_wg=tIRIk&pd_rd_w=zvZ5X&content-id=amzn1.sym.3481f441-61ac-4028-9c1a-7f9ce8ec50c5&pd_rd_r=10260d25-4018-499e-8670-7b551fce7550&s=automotive&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNVFFMjYyMTVJRUFNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzA5Mjk5MzdXSVpRSTFYRk1ZSyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTcwMjUxMkFSNFRNUE4xQ1U5RSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbF90aGVtYXRpYyZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1

LOL Puc. Sounds like my brother many years back. I was stationed in Southwest OK working grave shift. I get a call about 3 in the afternoon from my brother. Him and a buddy are out our way as they got layed off in Detroit at the time, so had free time to ride. Came by visited for a day or so and back on the scoot. One of my favorite shows back in the day was "Then came Bronson"

Hit and miss on pain. But last 7-10 days have had back pain and been wearing a back brace, (one of them elastic adjustable jobs by ACE) to work. Surprisingly it has worked well on the bike. My back rest sits a bit to far back and I slouch on the bike. But with the brace it has a pad on it that takes up the space and it fits well and makes me sit more up right. I'm not a big believer in the copper fit thing but hey, for the price I have seen them they could be a choice.

8mm and 5/16 seem to go same way. But its an awesome idea.

It was hard for me to grasp why they went Air Cooled vs water cooled. Harley and Indian both have had to add or build water cooling to their bikes to meet emissions. Higher head temps to bur gasses. So it puzzled me why Yamaha didnt stay with an engine they new would be easier to meet emissions with. I am riding a V-Twin Victory, mainly because the heavy feeling weight of the RSV. Here in Fla with the temps we have had is miserable. I was having some issues with my bike and was seriously a trade. I was looking toward BMW touring bike. What I have noticed is they're seems to be a lot of interest in the ADV market. Being vertically challenged it can be a challenge to find a bike I can touch ground with.

Have a "new" set of take offs. I was going to pull the heat shields and paint them with VHT, then put shields back on. I try to think about doing it and say "ah heck skip it" While FI "could" run lean more times then not the ECM will not let it run lean enough to hurt itself. It is a single wire O2 so if disconnect them it will fatten up the mix a tick and not set lights. I ran it that while a few years back to see if I could get it to run a bit cooler. I couldnt tell any difference.

That looks nice. Kind of like a stretch limo

2010 Yamaha Venture Lowering

So you will have to look. But I think its a 130 front tire I went to that also helped with handling -
Royal Star Venture S 2012

The 130 (I think it is) front tire helps the bike be a bit more nimble. I also lowered the forks in the triple tree to help with getting the bike a bit lower for me to touch ground. AS mentioned the bikes CG is high, but once rolling, I doubt you can find a nicer riding bike. -
Mike Rowe is one of my favorite guys to refer to back when I was teaching the last few years. I was assistant instructor in automotive technology. I have watched some of his interviews on You Tube and they are great.

Well cant be a lean carb as bike is FI. I have located a set of used OEM pipes and I am going to VHT paint them and whap wrap is on them is coming off. I dont think it hurt anything, but I'm not going to chance it. Mostly it is falling apart anyways. I hope the coating will help a little with paint. The "crossover" on the Cross Country contains the catalytic converter, and I have been tempted to take it out, but over the years I have come to figure out they are designed with that and if you take it out bad things can happen. And I dont want to go the fuel controller route and have to manually tune things.

I have a 13 Cross country tour. I went from the RSV to it because of demo rides. The nimble handling and lower feeling CG pushed me. But when the pulled the rug out from under Vic owners it left a bad taste in my mouth. I have rode a couple of the Indians for fun. I dont know as I would buy one for fear next month they will have had their fun with motorcycles and focus on side by sides or snow mobiles or something else.

So my Victory has had some popping on deceleration for awhile now. I have been thru months of troubleshooting another problem I got fixed, and part of it started with an IAC valve. So a couple days ago I stopped at the store and when I mounted up to come home being it is only a couple blocks or so I skipped the ear plugs. I noticed what sounded like the old exhaust noise from the small blocks when the doughnuts blew out. Looked around and here is what I found.

WE taught our son driving around the neighborhood before he had a learners. Once he had a little seat time and got his learners, then I worked with him a little on a stick. It wasnt pretty, but he got it. But being few cars are made with a stick anymore thats not a deal.
