  1. The popping is more than likely associated with the AIS valve. It is a valve that is "supposed" to inject clean air to dilute the exhaust emissions. Mine would pop more on decell then acceleration. I swapped out the OEM mufflers on my 2013 Victory and now I get an occasional pop on up shifts. No such AIS valve on these bikes so I dunno I just live with it. Neither bike is/was that noticeable to me. Some have removed and plugged the lines for the AIS valve. But to completely remove the thing I understand is a pretty large job.
  2. So been a long time since I had that part of bike apart. Is the solenoid for the RSV "special" I'm sure Yamaha thinks it is. So could you use a good old Ford type solenoid?
  3. Yea same here on seperate room for bike. Thats why you have to go big enough that the garage area is actually a separate room. I think around 35ft get that separation depending on what manufacturer. So like this is a 35' with a slide. For us would be nice because if kids came they can actually have their own room.
  4. I do have a work around of using a generic auto switch to replace the Yamaha OEM switch. It takes a bit of engineering, but works better than just a toggle switch like I originally made.
  5. After last week I think it was HD had a massive recall, again. Took a gander at some older info and HD had close to like 300,000 bikes or more in last year for issues. So if you were one of them guys you might be pissed at them too. I might buy an Indian, but I'm not a big fan of that huge front fender. I like then new Chieftan classic I think they call it. But no trunk on that model. There is almost always someone that is sour about one thing or another. So the video that was posted they guy was pissed. So check out the fellow had just get back from a long tour on a new Indian.
  6. My by pass relay is plug and play. Ignition switch it's self ONLY lets power get to the next leg of journey, the switch on handlebars to then make solenoid engage to then power starter. So if it is hung to run starter it has to be somewhere else in my book.
  7. Hers my best guess. Either the starter solenoid is stuck "on" or possibly the Button on the handle bars is shorted. The ignition switch "allows" voltage to be passed around to what ever circuit needs it. But does not "make" the starter actually engage. So probably what you need to do is OHM out the starter side with the battery disconnected. See if it OHMs out across the solenoid, if it does without any voltage then it is shorted
  8. Ken, first check your connections to battery, also the ground cables. Battery voltage. Do headlight come on? In ACC I think all that might work is radio. If you tuen key on and ALL connections are good then need to look a bit deeper. If you do have the Aux lights they really need to be wired thru a relay. Also I make a relay that by passes the large current thru a relay instead of it all running thru the switch. The contacts in the switch are not hefty enough to really carry all the power needed thru it. But lets check the basics first before we get to jumping to something else. If you need a hand let me know, I'm about an hour and half over in Sebring. Shoot me a PM and I'k get you a phone #
  9. I keep looking at toy haulers. Best of both worlds, extra beds and seating in back area and room to take the bike if you want. Indoor plumbin too.
  10. Take plastic off, bend back in place and have it tack welded back together. Repaint and good to go.
  11. I loved the 130 on the front, really helped quicken and for me stabilize the bike. Never had it feel like it was following ridges or ruts. Even expansion bridges didnt have me nervous. The Avons had reports of separation around rim area. Sometimes tread pattern just lends itself to certain tendencies. I try not to by motorcycle tires that dont have treads that overlap center of tire to let water out. I did not care for the the E-3 pattern as the center had a tendency to feel funny in wet conditions.
  12. Of the 1/2 ton trucks, for some reason the Toyota and Nissan get the worst gas mileage. Dunno why, but engine is bigger than the 4.6 Ford and the Chevy. But they are quite a bit off from the others. Me think the Nissan is the worst. They are a nice truck, heck anything newer than my 96 Dodge is nice. LOL I keep looking @ 2011 and newer F 250's, but I just cant justify it right now.
  13. I had run all 3 of the Rotellas. I personally like the T6. But I have run the T4 in the bike and also the wifes Durango. I have also run it in my V-Twin. I also run the slightly long oil filters that fit. More area means more filtering and more miles between changes if you wish.
  14. The starter solenoid is behind the left passenger floor board. The 30a main fuse also. So while checking connections look there. Also a way to get around the button if thats the issue would be, turn key on and jumper across the solenoid and see if it will start. If not and you get the pop or clunk then nothing your probably looking at main cables.
  15. Yea there granny are a lot like the race gearbox I worked on. My best intuition says shift drum, or selector. Drum may not be getting full rotation, or cam/dog is not catching. Could transfer over to selector fork//shaft
  16. Paid my fair share on that road while stationed in Altus. If I remember rite, that's the section from OKC to Tulsa.
  17. Small changes like those personalize our machines. Looks good, and there is some cool rattle can colors out there now. I like the "metal" look stuff. They have it in a silver, black, bronze and a few others,
  18. Yup not a lot here, but a place to stay. But price is rite. No problems on way up. Got gas in valdosta and made it to just north of Macon on 441
  19. Saphire NC. Its in the Ga, NC, SC corner. Dunno where we are going to day trip to yet. Got to get past the hole Ga problem first. We had a similar thing happen to us back in 07-08. We stopped up at a look out point in the park. Sky's looked pretty ugly, so we decided to head to Gatlinburg. I didnt make the main road from parking lot and started to rain. 20 min later I think I saw ducks going by in life jackets. Got to Gatlinburg and was going to stop by some place and get out of rain and a bite. No parking anywhere, its all pay to park and blocks from main road. Stooped at a traffic light and water ran over tops of my boots. We turned around and went back to Maggie and Waynesville to get some grab and go and went back to room and ate.
  20. You are correct Don. The hang up that got them was they (dealers) were doing the non-cat mufflers as a "dealer installed" accessories. Not saying they cant do the head pipes, but it's not a "dealer authorized and warrantied" add on.
  21. Up 75 to Macon, then over to I think its 441 there and north to Madison. My range is about 180 to stay safe and leave a little for error. Basically my low fuel light comes on them. And being I'm on a fuel injected bike no reserve. So light on look for gas. I figure if I can fill @ Valdosta I should make it north of Macon and should be no problem from there.
  22. Well this Hurricane didnt do us any favors for our trip. WE are supposed to leave Saturday AM to head up to NC for a week. Plans tentatively are I 75 north out of Fla up to Macon. Then US 441 north. But the way this storm is supposed to go, I'm not sure stations will have gas or even power along the way from Valdosta to Macon. Anyone know of a way to check the status on any of this before we leave? Would the state DOT site have any info?
  23. Irma did us in, and we are close to a hundred miles inland. I think it was a strong 2 or 3 when it got to us. Same thing here on the debris. Took almost 4 months before contractors got all the crap hauled off.
  24. Thats kind of where Harley got in trouble with EPA. They had cats in mufflers and were selling mufflers over the counter before an owner even put tags on bike. Thus doing away with emissions. Chances are if the mufflers have cats, you got what you got. Unless you modify them your self. I have not taken a good look at the OEM yet. On the Victory Cross bikes they are round and just the rite size to put a glass pack type muffler inside.
  25. HID can not be used with a modulator. LED take a different modulator than the old school for halogens. Check out KRISS or any of the folks that have modulators for headlights.
