  1. They tried several years back to "recreate" a Woodstock for the modern generation at I think it was Grissom AFB that had been closed. From what I remember it went pretty bad, fights, drugs and general disorder. Phhis the modern generation.
  2. I have run a set of the "carbon fiber" pads I think they call them. At first it felt funny, I didnt pay much attention to that they were primarily a pad used on sport bikes. What that meant was they had to have heat to work to full capacity. So one up in around unless using a lot of brake they took a little warming up so not a lot of grab initially.
  3. Man I cant remember the fellows name, but he is on this forum. He was heads up on the BT Sena rig needed to transmit to wireless headsets. I have the Sena SMH10. We got them when we still had the RSV. I think looking back I had just about as good sound and function with the wired RSV equipment. I built a jack that plugged in with the headset so I can run ear buds/custom molded.
  4. Danged if I can remember what we use to do for ignition points when they use to get that "saw tooth" burn pattern.
  5. Only rear tire I have got 10k out of has been the Michelin Commander 2. I had over 5k on the Shinko when I traded it and it looked like it would go at least another 3 or so. Tire pressures is key.
  6. I hate to be a fly in the ointment. But is the ID of the old pipe larger than the fittings you have to glue on the joints? There are companies that have like a plastic sleeve they put inside the pipe and inflate it or something and it ends up doing the same thing you are trying to do, line the old pipe. Some cities are doing it with their old sewers etc because they dont want to dig up miles of streets.
  7. Lowering the forks in the triple tree is not easy for a novice. So dont know your experience level, but take your time. My biggest scare was splitting the fairing when I was doing mine. I had never done this before and had read some horror stories. Take your time and refer back if you get lost. Be sure to get accurate measurement how much of the shock is on top of triple tree. Otherwise they are in un-even and could create an odd handling issue. I had a digital caliper I used.
  8. Yea I dont get the whole shoe thing. "I need a pair for this and a different for that yada" How many can ya wear @ one time? WE go on a trip I take the pair on my feet. The wife wears boots of some sort on bike @ my request, then has to have flip flops for "gas breaks" and usually another pair for when we get wherever. Geeze
  9. Wraps are defiantly becoming the "new custom paint". AS you mention you can go back or change up in a year or so if you change equipment. Check out this fellows site. He is currently doing stuff for Victory, but he is independent and looking to expand his business. Vicwrapz OH and the side bonus is it helps protect the surface from road debris.
  10. Well Jeff enlightened you on the HID thing and how to turn it on with a relay etc. He helped me out with my 2nd gen and gave me a wire diagram with a toggle switch and a blinking LED so I would see the blinking light and turn it on. Worked perfect. On the 2nd gen I had plenty room to mount the electrics. If your 1st gen run the same bulb as the 2nd an H4, they do make a 80/100 bulb that is not hard to find and makes a wale of a difference. I did wire mine up off a relay and a larger power wire so as to no tax the OEM headlight wires. I ran the same system on my Vulcan 900. So now move on to the Victory. It has separate bulbs for high and low. Since it does this I hooked the headlight modulator back up on the high beam. I am running the Sylvania Ultra super whatever bulb. They are H 11 bulbs I think. So on the low beam I wired in HID, to quote a friend WOWZER let there be light. But here is one thing I never thankfully encountered with the RSV. New Years day the wife and I took a ride over to my Brother In-Laws about 80 miles one way. WE left there about 8 pm so was dark. I got to the end of their street and remembered "oh yea the bright is on from daytime" so I flipped it off. Wholy darkness Bat Man !!! Cycled the switch thinking maybe the relay didnt excite, same thing DARK. Dang the low beam HID had burned out. Luckily I have LED driving lights on the crash bars to help, but had to run high beam all the way 80 miles home. Now had that been the RSV I would have been trying to change out the bulb in the driveway to get home.
  11. Bucfan, I'm guessing your dealership would be Sky Powersports Lakeland over on Kathline. I can tell you from my experience with my now out of production Victory, those guys have been nothing but first rate with me. I hvae not had a lot of service done there, but they have always been up front and helpful. I trust them to do what they say they will.
  12. That picture must be from "down under"
  13. I am a do it myself guy. Mainly because I dont like spending money on things I can do. And more than once here lately I have read threads of folks taking bikes to dealers and not getting the service they are paying for. usually it is the more labor intense stuff like valve adjustments ( a RSV 2nd gen fellow) a steering head bearing replacement (victory) and a swing arm bearing replacement. So my thoughts are do what you can. Document it if its under warranty. If you have a computer set up a file and scan receipts and take pictures like if you do bigger jobs like the valves with a time stamp.
  14. Man sorry to hear about anyone having a close call like this. As has been mentioned more then a couple times the insurance company will probably write it off if you had full coverage on it. But the first person/place you need to get after for compensation is the cager that ran you off the road. A salvage title anything is worth pennies on the dollar. You will be lucky if you can get liability on it if repaired. Most of all you say your OK.
  15. I knew on the BBQ tanks some kind of date thing kicked in a few years back. I took a tank to get filled and they said no way. So I guess thats why the Blue Rino things are everywhere now.
  16. OK I may be a bit dense. But when I look at the parts breakdown of the valve train, it appears it is a hyd push rod on a hyd lifter. So far as I can see, there aint no way to "adjust" the valves. Unless they are using them adjustable tubes like a certain motor company.
  17. Man I'm just to plain I guess. Just a Black Jack or I did discover Jack Daniels honey a couple years back that is nice once in awhile.
  18. @Flyinfool I have a bunch of big like 280- 290 and 300+ shims. If you grind them down to the more usable sizes (I think what the 260 range) would they loose the temper?
  19. Those shims are still used today in bikes. The V-Max uses them several Hondas and suzikis. So if a dealer says they dont have them in stock, they are s#itting someone if they do a service check.
  20. Going to try to put on my calendar. Will have to see how monetary things work out here in mean time. Need to check with a couple other Fla folks and maybe run up together.
  21. LOL Like a cassette deck is a "technological gadget"
  22. You know, one of the nice things about a used vehicle is..... You dont fret over the first scratch or ding as much. Nice looking scoot. And I think your right on the GW thing. I think its a better looking machine then the equivalent years GW.
  23. My jack has a twist handle. Still its a precarious dance when lowering.
  24. Are the new ones 5 pin like the old ones? Or 7 pin like the HD?
  25. Under left side cover is the main fuse, next to it is the solenoid. Jumper it with a screw driver and see if it runs. The TD were not known for having a lot of switch issues like the RSV. Because most didnt run heated gear and a lot of extras like on the RSV's. But it could be the switch none the less.
