  1. The rears take some engineering too. Looks good.
  2. Good reason I have the headlight modulator. If I can get them to look twice because its something they are not use to seeing it draws thier attention to me instead of their d#@! phone.
  3. Yup now if I can find the info and post. OH BOY OH BOY http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/audio_cable.jpg This what your looking for friend? There was a couple of document located on www.ventures.org about making your own intercom.
  4. Seems that link is more for buying to me. anyways did a yahoo search. http://www.championshonda.com/service_request.asp http://www.spaceportcycles.com/
  5. I did see a throttle body spacer I think for the 4.7 dodge a fellow made that he said helped him out. True or BS I dont know. His spacer was like the ones you buy, but he cut swirls in it so it sort of acted like the miller vortex bottles I guess. I can see the theroy but does it work for real? Beats me. Sounds good though dont it. Heres another idea, clamp a magnet that has a cut out in it to both sides of your fuel line. It will magneticly realign the properties and the fuel will mix better.
  6. The 9 was a good bike for me to get back into the sport on. After about 4yr of "touring" on it I had enough. Back on the air intake swirler thingy's. I think the ones I'm thinking of they called "turtles" or something like that. Shoot they look what we use to have on airplane wings called a vortex generator. Actually probably one of the best air "mods" I've seen is the guy took the big black plastic things off and got some K&N chrome clamp on filters and put them on. It elminated the restrictive part and added some bling. but yet was subdued somewhat.
  7. I also had a Barrons on my 900 Kawi. I had just put in a K&N OEM replacement filter. I left on a trip up to my buddy's house in Chralotte. I got off the expressway @ his off ramp and when I was trying to accelerate from the light the bike seemed to really labor and didnt have much power and made alot of noise from the air filter area. I looked down when I had a chance and the silly chrome OEM cover was gone. Guess the vibration of the 600 miles took it toll. Well went back and looked for it but no good, never found it. I called some local Kawai delaers and none in stock. One had a used bike in the showroom and I offered to buy it off that bike and they could order one to replace it. "Oh no cant do that someone might buy that bike tomorrow". Yea right. Well luckly another friend in Charlotte just traded his 900 off for a Stratoliner and had taken his Barron BAK off and tried to sell it to me like 2 weeks before so I rang him up and bought it. It ran OK, maybe better power sure didnt notice any difference in MPG but it got me going. I am not decided if I want to change out the air filters on the RSV to K&N's or not. Sure aint a cheap investment. Something like over $100. Not looking to gain HP or anything, just like the idea of cleanable. Shoot I think the OEM filters for this rig are near $60 or better.
  8. I think somewhere in the hundred or so posts I've read about clutch "whine" changing the basket fixs the whine for some but not all. I dont know when in the basket would stop it. Looks like the basket for the most part is "suspended" by the clutches and steels. Beats me.
  9. Thats one thing I would like to be able to "bring over" from my Kawai. The clutch on that one had an adjustment of where the throw was. With this bike it is uncomfortable for me. Its hard to explain. I allways have had my finger closest to my thumb around the grip and then pull the clutch with the other three. I find it hard to do on this hyd set up. I'm trying to learn though. So with the disk being thicker really all we are doing is reducing the distance between the disks so it "fakes" out the spring tension sort of. Kind of like what we use to do on the old posi-track rearends. We added shims under the springs to tighten them up. that way they grabbed harder, then you started breaking axles and wheels. So then you beffed up...........
  10. Check e-bay, I got some off there from a Goldwing joint for under $100, I think somewhere around $90
  11. OK sorry guess I missed a link to an article. All I saw was the link for barrons parts and then the link for the thicker parts deal. Guess I'll go check out the parts diagram to see how it all works. I thought it was a spring and diaphram set up.
  12. As of now we are planning on going over from Central Fl (US 27) for bike week on the 17th. Waiting to see if some friends from Sarasota are interested in riding up with us, so departure time is unknown as of now. Usually go over taking back roads and then spend a few hours looking around and leave over there say 4ish or so.
  13. Maybe that was 21K Canadian back then.
  14. Do they (yamaha) call it something different? What I saw in the link Cougar had was a metal friction plate and (thicker) and a thicker friction disc. Is the two pieces being thicker what causes it to have more clamp power? I didnt see any "spring" in the pictures he had posted.
  15. I sort of think that with the way the EPA and all has got involved in milage on everything, if it helped MPG the factory would be installing some sort of gizmo to boost milage. since they dont, not likley it helps. Just my thoughts.
  16. Aharbi: swing by your local autozone. They have a code reader and can tell you what the code is. I got a ck eng light on on the wifes Durango thats been on for 2yr or more. Its a purge tank issue. Could be a $15 solinoid valve or anywhere in the 58' of vacum hoses that run from the tank to the purge tank to the valve and on and on. It dont affect performance so I aint fixing it. I'm suprised the light still comes on, I would have bet it burned out by now.
  17. I had bought at the recomendation of the fairing manufacture of the faring I put on my Kawi 900. One slight problemo. Where the radio sat in the fairing (it was made for a HD) was impossible to lift the cover because of the handle bars and risers on the Kawi. As it turned out the "car" type radio didnt stay long on the bike anyways, but thats another story. Anyways its like new, I did spray paint it silver from white.
  18. Hmm I dunno. Looks suspeciously like those "turbo boost or turbo flow" things they were selling a few years back that you put in your air hose for your cage. Dont know as they did anything. However I do recal seeing something in the last few months that actually goes like right at the intake port and epoxy's in to redirect air and break it ou or something. I think the idea here is to swirl the air to speed it up and mix better.
  19. I got one of them covers in my garage in like new condition if someone wants it.
  20. Is it to much to assume that your not into doing the work yourself? If willing to do it there is a member willing to loan his tools and shims out to complete the job. All he asks is you pay the shipping and buy the gaskets from him I think.
  21. Well wife and I took bike for a nice ride yesterday to see her dad. So when I got home it had 8640 on the clock. So taking into account that it should have had a service @ 600 & 4000 miles that should put me @ 8600 for the nex required service right? Well thats the way the math when I was in school works out anywho. So I had 2 qt of Mobil 1 20w50 on hand and I had bought a gal of Rotella T6 the other day. I figured I'm heading into summer down here in Fl soon and the temps get up so I mixed it 50/50. I also used the purolator gold filter (PL14610)and the one one that is longer by like 1/2" or so. I found that if you use the longer filter it takes right at 4qt to get the level up. It under the top mark and dang close to where it was prior to the change. So I think I'm OK there. I got to thinking about the diff oil. The owners manual dont say anything about changing the diff oil for quite awhile yet. But I got to looking and I had a qt of Valvoline 75w90 syn gear oil, so I figured what the heck I was already dirty why not. Oil from diff looked OK just dark, no smeel or anything. No bright bits or what not. Engine oil out to me looked like it could have went another 4K pretty easy.
  22. Thanks fellas.
  23. I was looking at some other bikes (HD) awile back and of course they had special editions and something like 105yr aniversary edition etc. Why you would signafy 105yr not 100 I dont know. Anyways Since the G2 started in 99 was there any designation or "special" model in 2009? Like 10 aniv edition. I had a FOX body mustang GT that was like 25th aniv I think.
  24. I have talked to a few folks on the road with them and all seemed happy. The MPG is an issue from what I have read low 30's I think, however it does come in an automatic version I think. I got a buddy in Wisconson says his biggest problem with owning one after he test rode one was it reminded him of riding a snowmachine all the time. Do they have a "real" throttle or is it the trigger thing. That allways killed me on a snowmobile.
  25. I'm kind of thinking if it works for say 10-12 yrs why not put a plug back on it? And do you all think if maybe you put a piece of heat shirink over the connector would it help preserve it some?
